He doesn't rush me and takes the time to do a thorough consultation. The only reason I am not giving five stars is because of how difficult it is to get through to this office on the phones. It can sometimes take over an hour of waiting. They do offer a call back service but if you miss that then you have to start all over again. Given how busy they are and how many doctors they have, they should really employ more people for the phones. It's often quicker to drive there and speak to the front desk than it is to call in.

Unfortunately, the practice is tied to Sarasota Memorial, which no longer accepts my UnitedHealthcare plan. I've had difficulties with both organizations and find them overly corporate. I personally prefer Doctors Hospital. That's my choice, informed in part by my own medical background and training. Two years later, the tumor reappeared at the lumpectomy site. Because I had had radiation, a mastectomy was required. When I had asked her about the benefits of a mastectomy vs lumpectomy, she retorted,"Why would you want to look like a flat-chested boy?". Eventually, it became metastatic and I ended up with 2 mastectomies. I'm glad to learn that she retired so she can't harm anyone else.

The care she (and Meg) gave my sister, the extra love and patience for a special needs person, was beyond compare. They worked with us, her caregivers, long distance family, an ailing father and me. The wear and tear on oncologists is tremendous and Dr Silver was a stalwart champion for my entire family. I shed tears when she retired three years into my treatment, and although I know I am in good hands with Dr Lunin, my heart wants Dr Silver and Meg...who were my family.
