I had a Groupon for two sessions in the floatation tank…read more I've floated before at a different place and it was an okay experience. I was able to book my 1st session on the website and when I got to the facility, the guy at the front desk gave me the rundown on how the tank works and what to do to have a more pleasant experience. I showered before I got into the tank and then stepped into the tank and laid down. They had a device kind of like a floatie that you can put around your head to lift the head which helps to align your neck. This helped tremendously as opposed to my last experience. The last time I floated, I didn't feel relaxed all the way because my head drooped to far into the water. Don't get me wrong, it still floated but...something just wasn't right. One other thing that helped with this experience was the earplugs. They helped to block out the sound as well as keep water out of my ear canals. It was completely silent. Once the lid goes down and the lights go out, you really do feel like you're floating in darkness. I think some people say it's like what people may think it was like to be in the womb. The water in the floatation tank has the salinity to make your entire body float. So you can relax your muscles and body because it's totally supported by the water. Weird, right? The water is also the same temperature as your own body temperature so it's easier to relax and not get cold. After 60 minutes or however long you're booked for the water starts flowing around you and the lights come on to bring you back to the living world...lol. You get out the tank and shower off. Even through all this, I still don't think floatation is for me. Maybe if I did it more often I could learn to really relax in there but I just had a hard time really just letting go. I got bored after 30-45 minutes and got antsy waiting for my time to exhaust. I could have just got out then but I paid for a 60 minute Groupon so I was going to stay in for 60 minutes even if I was just swimming around and doing laps for the last 15 minutes. Haha! Another reason I started to get uncomfortable was that I was getting hot. The water is at or around 98.6 F but my body temperature is usually around 96-97F regularly. I was sweating in the water. I could feel the sweat on my forehead as well. Plus, the salt in the water dehydrates you a little. It would be nice to have some water afterwards. So I suggest bringing a bottle of water. My Groupon was for two floats but I didn't go back. Nothing against the business, I just wasn't feeling it. You might have a different experience though. All you really need is a bathing suit for this experience. The guy at the front desk said that many people float in the nude. They provide everything else, towels, soaps, earplugs, etc.

Float your boat, I mean...your BODY at Chill Therapy…read more I came here on the whim of a friend looking for relaxation. Luckily, Groupon was having a special. So, here I go into a floatation experience at 9am in the morning. I was greeted by Tom who was pleasant and helpful as I frantically roll in 10 mins late. No worries, Tom puts the Chill in Chill Therapy. After I sign my 1st born away for the disclaimers, Im off to float! The rules are explained plain and simple and now into the pod! Yes, a pod of salt of water. When you first get in, the water feels different, almost thicker and softer. The temperature is slightly warm and very comfortable. Once you settle in and and allow yourself to float, now it's time to relax every muscle in your body and release. Releasing and quieting the mind is more challenging than the floating. You think thoughts like, "Is this what it was like with I was in the womb?" After you get over the fetal regression moment, you start to give into the relaxation and almost slip into a light sleep or meditation. It's rather pleasant and restorative. But what if I drown Quin?! Don't worry, the viscosity of the water ensures that you float appropriately and your body stays in place. After an hour of floating, you awaken and began to feel like it's time to move your muscles. Coming back to reality, you start moving and will notice that your muscles and body feels lighter and more fluid. As an added bonus, you feel less stressed and may even notice a better nights rest at the end of the day. . I definitely recommend this as an experience to try. Feedback: I do think the option of a nice guided meditation walk through would be a great experience builder for those who don't mediate at all.
