I have a few doctors with FPG, and they're ok. I switched to their pulmonologist/sleep apnea center to keep my doctors together, but the customer service at the sleep apnea/pulmonologist is horrible. you can leave a message but you never get a call back. Never have they called me in response to an inquiry. I've had to stop in there while on other doctor appointments. Stay far away from this office. my other doctors are good and the staff is on the ball. They only get one star because I can't leave zero stars. read more

I saw Dr. Sutera for my annual physical examination. Once there they informed me I should have had the blood work ahead of time. No one mentioned this when I made the appointment and I specifically mentioned I had a physical. They sent me for blood work and there were several items out of normal range. I called the office and asked to discuss the results with Dr Sutera to see what he recommended as next steps. I called back several times and never got a call back. After multiple attempts to talk to someone besides the people answering calls, I was told that I would have to make another appointment to discuss the results. He was indecisive about what to recommend. Probably the most hostile, unfriendly, least helpful medical office I've ever visited. It starts with the receptionist, continues with the nurse. Then it gets worse when the PA or NP sees you. Finally, the the doctor comes in, seems bored by what you're telling him, and then responds with nothing -- no recommendations what steps to take on your own, no prescriptions, no referral, no labs. Nothing. His only instruction was to make a follow-up appointment six-months later. I'm seriously considering just cancelling the next appointment. read more

I'm terrified right now because this office hasn't called me back and it's my fault if I die in the next couple daysv For letting them put me in her anesthesia. The prep they put me on is horrible for me. I've left messages and talked to people and hoping will get back to me before I go under anesthesia. This all pertains to a bill I am being sent for a service date which I wasn't even seen on. They have easily the worst administrative office of all time. I have left 3 voicemails and sent 1 email and finally just received a call back. The first call was made nearly 3 months ago. I was fortunate to miss their call, so I am expecting another 3 month lead time to get a call back. The doctors are fine, though if you are seen at Sarasota Memorial I'd ask to deal with a doc from outside FPG if possible just because of their admin office. I am being generous with a 1-star review so you are welcome for that FPG. I look forward to a debt collection agency buying this 'debt' at 4 cents on the dollar. This applies to the office of Dr Fredriksson. I wish there was a zero star option. I have no idea if Dr. Fredriksson is a good doctor or not as I was never able to be seen by him. My journey starts a year ago when I was referred to this office by my primary doctor. I called and scheduled for an appointment the day after I saw my GP. I was told that the next available new patient appointment was in 3 months - so I took that date. One week prior to my appointment, the office called me and told me that the doctor wouldn't be in the office for my appointment so I needed to reschedule. Instead of trying to get me an appointment relatively quickly, I was told I had to wait the 3+ months for the next "new" patient appointment. So I booked that one. When I showed up on that day (now 6 months after my original call), I was told that the doctor wasn't in so I was going to be seen by the physician's assistant. I saw the PA and he gave me a preliminary exam and told me I should really be seen by Dr. Fredriksson (duh). So, I schedule an appointment with the doctor. Due to my travel schedule and the doctor's schedule, the next appointment was 5 months later. I schedule early in the morning (8:30am) specifically to minimize the time in the waiting room. My third appointment day rolls around, I show up a little early and check in. Yes, the doctor was in the office. However, I wait for 30 minutes and I am still not called to go back to the exam room. I ask the front desk how much longer and I am told that "I am next." 15 minutes later, I am still in the waiting room. At that point, I decide to leave. I ask to speak to the manager to relay my experience with their office and instead of receiving my feedback, the manager tried to justify my overall experiences and further tells me that waiting 45 minutes is "typical". Again, no idea on the quality of the doctor, I would only go to this office if you don't mind being treated like you have no value. read more

I received an unexpected bill after 8 months of my visit which I was released free of charge. When I questioned the billing office, the woman was so rude telling me since you signed the payment agreement, it does not matter when we bill you and why you got billed, you have to pay!!! i will never be going to first physicians again, the staff are completely confused and not efficient when taking a call, but also, Dr Azuero made me fight all day for him to send me a lab (for what he THOUGHT I had but did not want to test for, for some odd reason) when I finally took the paper to quest they told me he did not in fact put any test code on the paper for what I requested. Therefore could not have the test done after all that fighting. I had to end up going to urgent care and spending more money because they simply could not do their job at first physicians. I would not reccomend going to them or you will likely have horrible added unnecessary stress on top of your illness Instead of actual help and care. The management team at First Physicians at SMH is the worst I have ever dealt with. Any call takes 15 to 30 minutes to get to talk to someone, and I have on the last occasion had to call 5 times to receive the required response, and that only after threatening to go in person and create a furor. I have been with this group since 2020. No more. Avoid this practice. The billing department is as arrogant as they are incompetent. A routine annual physical in Sept 2024 which was paid a 2nd time on Jan 28, 2025, still hasn't been credited. No e-mail. No text. No calls. Just a letter threatening collections. I did get to speak with Sydney (imagine Berta from 2 & half men) and Mary Lou (imagine Elmer Fudd's daughter), and provided them with the confirmation number, but nothing has been done. The office also NEVER answers their phone- and if they do call you back, you get lip service and attitude, but no follow through. Took MONTHS to get an appt but I needed a consult before I could be booked for a procedure. - I booked a tele-health appt for 11:20AM for that consult. The nurse called me to get preliminary info at 11:15 and told me the doctor would call me for my 11:20 appt. I waited 40 minutes for the call. AWFUL I called MID FEB for neurology appt. I asked where they are in their appointment book so I would know whether or not I was going to wait. I was told they WOULD NOT discuss anything with me without a faxed referral from my primary. I don't need a referral to go to a doctor. But I asked Why? "Because that's how we do things" it took ONE MONTH for my referral" to Get into their system" March 14 I am told the first appointment is mid August. MID AUGUST!! I have lost a month of my life at a time when I am ill. I need a neurologist and this is why I called her. Mid August? 3.5 weeks to get an intake appointment for hypertension meds. Wanted to enroll my 14 yo. They don't take children, though the name has family in it. Intake went poorly due to the doctor wanting to deal with the hypertension because he is god. Will not be returning to this group ever. I have been going here since 1999. I have seen the nurse practitioners and various doctors but my favorite is Dr. Kevin Dunn. He listened to my request to get off the diuretic and get on another BP med. He suggested a calcium channel blocker. The other doctor I saw ignored my request! I am glad that Dr. Dunn is now my doctor. He's very interesting to speak with and informative too! They have a special rate on appointments and labs for people who do not have health insurance. They are also open on Saturdays as a walk in center...for the practice's patients only! read more

REVENUE(i.e. money) is the main focus of this operation. Owned by Sarasota Memorial Hospital which has the same focus according to a nurse who retired from there. I never saw a doctor in my 2 yrs. of being a patient, only a nurse, even after specifically asking for my PCP. Not a place I'd ever recommend. None of which talked about coming anytime earlier for the appointment, none of them told me to bring any kind of paperwork (which with no email or voicemail I didn't realize I had to do it ahead of time). I can't begin to describe the awful care I have received from numerous providers associated with First Physicians Group. They are hard to get a hold of, the front desk staff is rude, and the CARE is deplorable. If the doctors that I saw are representative of the quality of all doctors, I fear for the future of medicine in this country. I thought that my GI would be my saving grace, but then I was disappointed. They send you to the hospital for "convenience" and then I was saddled with a large bill from the hospital that my insurance wouldn't cover (normally bloodwork is ALWAYS covered, but they did not warn me that they were coding it as a specialist appointment and that it would be very expensive. Even more frustrating, they didn't even follow up on my bloodwork until over a month later. These doctors should all be ashamed of themselves. It is obvious they don't truly care about their patients. This is a terrible facility. Do yourself a favor and go ANYWHERE else. read more
