Downright trash. I've been here multiple times over the years, but since the ownership change, it's been terrible. I took my kids in for a late lunch a while back and we all ate off the buffet. It was all dried out and looked horrible. I told my kids to try a few things which was a mistake. We all sat in the booth with dried up food, half gagging. It was horrible. We got up and left. Fu star is great if you don't give a damn about people with celiac disease or gluten intolerance. I've been here more times they I can count, and it was a great place to get cheap food when I was younger. I've seen chef's go in and out of the bathroom twice and not wash their hands (both had been using the stall). It's still got some good lo mein and sweet and sour chicken though. Cleanliness-wise it's on the average to low side of the scale. But still a reliable cheap Chinese food option. read more

My family walked in and was turned away that they were closed. We went into dollar tree and when we came out and they were still open.and serving costumers. Worst experience ever!! Placed order and paid online just like I have in the past. When I went to pick up the food, I waited 10 minutes, then I was told the restaurant was under new ownership and they don't use the website anymore. I was instructed to call my bank to get my money back and then call to place my order. Fu Star is what I would call a standard Chinese buffet. Extremely limited salad bar, no sushi, and no hibachi. Has "carry out" boxes for people who don't want to eat in the restaurant. Decent amount of seating with more room in the back, not a huge restaurant. Serves mostly standard Chinese buffet items including Chicken with Broccoli, Lo mein, etc. I like the Pork with Mushrooms, Chicken with Green Peppers, and the Egg Rolls are delicious. Seems to have more vegetables then previous posts have mentioned. Serves Coca-Cola products. Has a nice dessert selection. Food was very good but almost cold. Got there around 2 o'clock. However, I was given the option to have it heated and/or make me fresh dish. I had it heated and it was delicious. They also made me some fresh pepper steak. Delicious also. Staff was very nice and accommodating. There was one thing that highly disturbed me though. A man came in with no shirt and just a leather vest on. I was shocked that they let him stay without putting a shirt on. Not appealing at all but rather definitely put a curb on one's appetite. Fu star has gotten steadily better since we first moved to the area. The customer service people now speak very good English, and very friendly. I am writing this review during the pandemic when they are offering only take-out service, and sometimes have only one person cooking. Sometimes, in their enthusiasm, they underestimate the wait times, but this could easily be solved by a system that texts you when your order is ready. In many ways, the food has been better when we order it off the menu vs when we used the buffet. The Tian chicken I bought was full flavored and subtle. read more

I think they're very expensive. When there was a buffet (pre-Covid) The price was actually reasonable. Now that everything is takeout it adds up very quickly to being close to $70 to feed a family of four it's just way too much! Not to mention sometimes their food is either hit or miss. What a nice surprise. Stumbled upon it on a gas stop. I first noticed how clean it is. The staff is polite, attentive but not hovering. The buffet offered plenty of options. Everything I sampled was delicious. I recommend the dumplings as well as the curry chicken. The salmon was cooked perfectly, moist and flaky. Nice selection for dessert as well. The best part? I recommend ordering it to go because its always fresh and hot and also they have more to choose and pick from then the buffet. This was a typical Chinese buffet. Nothing really fantastic, nor horrible about it. The food was fresh at 7:30 at night, so that was a plus. They had bourbon chicken but called it Chicken Teriyaki and their General Tso chicken was chewy and sweet opposed to crisp and spicy. . Have eaten here many times. It is a must place for us to go when ever in Danville. Have never noticed any mold or unclean bathrooms. This is much better than the buffett in Buckhorn in my opinion. Not a large selection but the food is great. Hope to make it to Danville again soon. read more

We decided to try this Chinese buffet, since the original buffet we were going to lost power due to a military blimp incident. The food was mediocre, and the rice was over cooked. The best item at this buffet was the ice cream because it was not made there. Now moving on to lunch vs dinner prices.. We arrived around 3pm and it was posted lunch ended at 3:30, so $6.75 per adult, there were two of us, $3.95 for age 3-12, which we had one 3 yr old with us and a 1 yr olđ. When we received our bill we were charged for the dinner pricing; which was $9.95 per adult and $5.95 for the 3 yr old. When we asked why we were charged for dinner pricing we were told that lunch was over at 3pm, to which their sign was wrong. They did not correct their error. Not a large buffet but I have never found anything I did not like. I really enjoy their spring rolls as they are the closet I have found to the way my aunt made them. The prices are really reasonable and the service is good. It can be very busy at times but they usually manage to keep their selections stocked.
