From one manager to the next, this place did not survive. The wait staff is as friendly as ever, but the food is deplorable. The sweet and sour sauce was NEITHER, which...I mean it's just red glop at that point. The rice may as well have been fried rice for how dry it was. The bbq chicken sticks were just dry, red colored chicken that maybe someone sat next to a hoisin sauce jar, none of it made it on the chicken, though. Tasteless. And to top it off, we both have loose stomachs the day after. So...wow, 40 bucks then, huh? And why was it hotter than blazes in there?! Too cheap for basic AC? I mean even with regulation HVAC that should have at least made it so it wasn't as humid as a July day in early April. There is a 0% chance that kitchen is following the rules. I'm all for second chances but there is a consistently poor level of sanitation and food quality at this place, while prices keep going up. And while I can forgive bland, tasteless food, getting me sick? Now that requires an answer. It's time for a call to the health inspector. read more

Gourmet Buffet for some reason gets a lot of negative reviews, but I can honestly say I've never had a bad experience here. It's located in the Buckhorn Plaza between Walmart and Lowe's. They have a significant amount of seating for even a buffet, but takeout is also available. Stations include western food, a salad bar, Chinese food items, fried items, and two desert areas. The center station has Sushi and it's acceptable, but it's not a Sushi bar being freshly made like many buffets now offer. If dining here for dinner, they will often have a table setup for various seafood items. At least during lunch, I have not seen the hibachi area used in some time. Items that stand out include the Lo mein, which is better than at a lot of buffets I've dined at, and the Chicken and Broccoli is also quite good. Desert station has both fresh and canned fruits, puddings, cookies, and serve ice-cream. Beverages are Pepsi products. Overall, for the selection and price, Gourmet Buffet is a great option that I feel is underappreciated in our area. read more

The food wasn't bad for the price however you can tell that this place wasn't very upscale. A lot of the food looked very old and they did not bring out fresh food often. It was later in the day, but they still could've brought out at least a few trays that were new before the kitchen closed. I went there today and I will say that it will be my last time going there. I went there at 3:15 on a Tuesday. The woman who seated me said that it is now dinner time and if that's OK with me because it is more money. I said sure not a problem. However, none of the dinner food came out for at least 20 more minutes. So I was stuck with the lunch food. Eventually, some of the dinner food came out, which basically was disgusting. The muscles had a very strange taste to them. The other food is just OK. It is expensive for not having sushi nor hibachi. Things have gone downhill over the last couple years. This used to be a staple when I was in college. Now it's mediocre at best.. Their lo mein was yellow, as if there was no soy sauce added, which also meant no flavor. There were no hot vegetables at all. The fried rice tasted like white rice, no flavor either. They had no dessert or sushi selection. We decided to not even stay 10 minutes... I asked the server about speaking to the manager, but he ran to his little office next to the register and stayed there until we left. Super fail, Gourmet Buffet.....you did me wrong this time! I like to think I have an iron stomach, I've been told this by many people throughout the years. I can mix milk and OJ in my stomach like it ain't no thing while others stare in amazement. I may know of just one other time in my life I actually had "food poisoning". Doh, they got me and got me good..... STAY AWAY FROM THE COLD CLAMS, I REPEAT....DON'T TOUCH THEM!! The are located next to the king crab legs, clams still in the half shell, on ice. I vomited the entire next day and I'm 95% certain they were the culprit. Ugh, never ever ever again. If I had never gotten sick, I would have likely given the restaurant 3 stars as I've been many other times with no issues. But now I'm leery about ever returning, at least I'll stay away from the cold seafood next time. I'm a fan of the faux sushi here, I'm a fan of the king crab legs, I'm a fan of the pick your own items for a stir fry, all have been great. But you don't get off easy when you're serving food that can get your customers ill. The pizza is gross, on a Chinese buffet? Blech. So you can eat here and you probably won't die. Was it good? No. Was it aweful? Also no. Some things were somewhat good while other things were just bad. For example the sushi was just like prepackaged store bought sushi. The egg drop soup was the worst I have ever had, imagine boiled water with egg strands in it, and no seasoning. Yuck. They did have a lot of American items if that is your thing. The salad bar had pasta salad, another noodle salad, broccoli salad. They were not exactly good or what you would find at an American BBQ but most were at least edible. Overall I would eat here again, but only if there were no other options. Went there last evening, haven't been there for a while so decided to give it another shot to see if it was any better. With the exception of the egg rolls, everything was room temperature and old/overcooked. Honey chicken was hard as a rock, kung pao chicken was the same. When we got there the room was dirty and most the food that I had to eat was kinda cold. The sushi wasn't the best and their wasn't many varieties of sushi. Most of the food didn't seam fresh at all either. The dessert wasn't fresh made either. Lastly, they had in the area to show the turtles off and the water looked dirty and really needed to be cleaned. This is one of the best chinese buffets I've been to, simply because of their fantastic, fresh hibachi grill. Made to order with some of my favorites like rice noodles, bamboo, and shrimp. Pick from several sauces and you have a meal. Good soups and traditional chinese american dishes. Vinegar chicken stood out for me as a favorite. Decent enough sushi that I always had some. Night time brings more elaborate choices like frogs legs and king crab. One of the funniest things about the waitresses is their american name tags. I'm guessing "Candy" is not a name they were born with. Host can be mean, yelling at us when he thinks we did not pay. "Who had the tea!!" I was very pleasantly surprised! The food was excellent and there were many, many choices for someone who does not like egg rolls and chow mein. This one does fall short, but not as bad as most. This place is cleaner than most and has a decent variety of food. As with most Chinese Buffets, there are only a few options for vegetarians. The hibachi line can get painfully long!! Sushi, which should be made fresh in small batches can be seen sitting out there for hours. Ok, where do I start...you seriously called this a Buffet!!! We came here on a way to a vacation and happened to stop in for some food. Man, what a mistake. My daughter ate the noodles and her stomach hurt like it never had hurt before! The selection was terrible. Chicken and bricolli, and fried rice were the only things one can eat. And it wasn't too good. I stood in the buffet aisles and contemplate a long time as to what I can eat since there's nothing to choose from. Where do I even start...the service here is HORRIBLE. A group of friends and I went last night, we were of course nice to our waitress, and she was extremely rude and practically pushed us out the door. She took our plates away when we were CLEARLY still eating. She came to our table 5 minutes after giving us our checks and told us we need to pay now, so she forcefully waited until we all took our money out. Then we told her to keep the change (the coins because we were going to tip her on our cards and it would of been a hassle counting all the change) so she then ROUGHLY GRABBED MY HAND and put the change in it and said leave!!!!! We went to 4.8 rating Knoebels Amusement park, we stoped by this place for dinner before we check in another 4.8 rating Comfort Suites next door. We totally disappointed. My son and I and another customer went to use the restroom, only one was available, we were politely let the other go first, then an employee went right in and pee over the place. The other employee got out the other toilet, left the same mess. I and that customer looked at each other and walked away. I took my son back to the table, before I opened my month, my husband right away said, "Don't tell me the lady's room is digusting too? We came back from Knoebels where thousands of people but every single restroom we used was clean, I can't before this." We couldn't stop wondering how they prepared their food. I have very mixed feelings about this Chinese restaurant. 1. Variety of food is good. If you want American OR Chinese, they probably have it. 2. The manager/owner is very blunt and could not care less if there was a problem. 3. My husband had a bad experience once, and instead of really making it right, they took 10% of his MEAL only. Drink was NOT Included, not were our meals. Took a very long time to go back after this one ! 4. Waitresses have NO concept of English and do not understand a word you say. They also all have "fake" names. 5. Food is usually hot, which is a bonus for me. 6. Ice cream is actually ice Milk (very icy and nasty tasting) All in all, we have mostly always had good service, and good food. This is the best buffet close to Bloomsburg or Berwick, so that keeps people coming back. Worst chinese food I`ve ever had. I like trying new chinese buffets and I was at Home Depot picking a few things up and stumbled across this place so my wife and I tried it out. Here are my thoughts, the food was stale even the "fresh" food they brought out was stale. The generl tsos chicken was all breading I believe, I tried cutting it with my fork no luck I pressed so hard I had marks on my hand from fork chicken or whatever it was did not cut. the sweet and sour chicken was crap actually everything I tried was horrible. I`m actually writing this review on the toilet where I have not left since getting home from there. WORST FOOD EVER! If you are reading this review please I beg of you go somewhere else. read more
