Pork bone broth noodles.
Brenna S.

I got the pork bone broth noodles. I had no idea what it is and the owners/workers don't really speak English. We had to figure out the noodles by her showing me the different kinds but oooooooh is it DELICIOUS! Can't wait to go back and order more things I don't know.

Also sell roast duck, char siu, roast pig and other takeout items

(Note: if you only want smaller serving of their great, thick noodles, order $4 add-on as a side in place of rice with regular dish.) I always have leftovers to enjoy at home. Dumpling orders are large and shareable. (Always 6 or 8 pieces.) My fave when dining in is amazingly delicious and huge Fish Fillet in Hot and Sour Cabbage Broth. (That's best with rice side to help absorb broth.) So good and healthful to balance the dough density of whatever dumplings you might also order -- they're all great. When getting order to go (or delivered) I like Kung Pao Chicken; it travels well. Order added green veggie dish for sharing -- I lean toward Chinese Broccoli; you'll really want the balance with the delicious dumpling and noodle dishes. Large cocktail menu -- Lychee Martini is so refreshing. Important: cash only for dining in. There's an ATM by their front door. Takeout and delivery accepts credit cards. Most reasonably priced parking nearby (if you don't score a limited street spot) is ParkAmerica at 1040 Race St a few doors down. In fact, it was one of the valet guys in that garage who recommended Dim Sum Garden when I was seeking great Chinese option. (Thank you, Ceasar!)

I just get a feeling that the focus is on pushing alcoholic drinks rather than on the food. The pork buns felt like they were previously frozen and were very sweet. Shrimp dumplings tasted off. Service was never the star but it wasn't so dismissive either. Just a very bad experience and while I won't go back, I also don't want to rate them 1 star as that would be unfair. Their food now is no better than the next guy and that's disappointing. Cash only btw. I write this because they do not post signs and a couple tables had to go grab cash from their ATM machine.

I do prefer the shrimp to be more plump & flavorful, & my favorite ones tend to have sauces other than soy to drizzle on. My trio of items were a steal at barely $20. Nom Wah is an excellent pick for quality dim sum at rock-bottom prices. I arrived early to a mostly-empty restaurant which allowed their staff to be extra attentive. The waiter described what sauces & dishes he was placing on my table, & the waitress offered to fill my water bottle before I left, as it was a 90° day. A lovely first impression!

The sticky rice in leaf had a good consistency although small with minimal ingredients. The shrimp dumplings are a staple but maybe too much flour which made the outer layer too doughy and chewy. The pork dumplings are good although smaller and tasted more like the frozen variety. Service was slow although there was only one waitress for the several tables. She did fill my water but I had to ask. And seemed to be somewhat frugal when I asked for extra napkins and only received ONE?!? She did come back later and gave me one additional napkin without being prompted. The biggest advantage for this place is it offered shrimp rolls but there are many other options available nearby.

So I am visiting from out of town, and I'm staying nearby. When I was preparing to come on this…read moretrip, I checked things out beforehand because I knew that I would be eating out. This place immediately came to mind after I read the reviews, and I ordered takeout tonight. I am very pleased to say that this was an amazing experience! I opted to do fairly simple dim sum, mainly because a restaurant that has "dim sum" in its name should shine in this category. I was able to place my order online, and had the scallion pancake, the pork, soup, dumplings, the chicken and shiitake dumplings, and the shrimp shu mai. The order was prepared, extremely fast, but very attentively. The packaging was thoughtful and protective, without being wasteful. They included a small container of delicious black vinegar/soy for dipping, and some chopsticks. All of the dishes were fantastic! My favorite was probably the shrimp dumplings, and I was happy that it was two for one night. Everything tasted very fresh and well-made. The seasoning was spot on, without being overly salty. My only regret was that after going to pick these up, I noted that the inside of the establishment appeared to be quite quaint and comfortable, and would definitely recommend that people check this place out for dine in options. The staff were very friendly, and made the pick up experience a positive one. So, if you're in the area and really want to have some dim sum, I would definitely recommend this place. I will most definitely be back in the future!!

Came here on a Saturday night and again there was a wedding banquet going on. The place is packed but they managed to find us a table so we could get in and enjoy a meal. Service is quick and they are for the most part friendly. I only got one guy that was a bit rude but he was pretty busy so I don't fault him. We were hungry and had a tired 2 yo with us so I forgot to take pics. But we had a dim sum order of shrimp rolls and pork spare ribs; soy sauce noodle chow mein; salt and pepper calamari, beef and scallop stir fry; and salt and pepper chicken wings. Everything was spot on. No joke. My favorite thing was that the calamari had strips and tentacles! Yum! Love the tentacles! The place can be a bit noisy cuz there always seems to be a party going on when we're there but despite it being busy they manage to get the food out really quick. The cooks must be cooking like crazy back there to crank all the food out so quick! There is a cash price and a credit card price so there r options. I really like it here. The food is fresh and the staff is friendly. What more do you want? This is a definite place we stop in while in town and the other is a cheesesteak place. Love this place!

solid dim sum restaurant in philly!…read more i always have a soft spot in my heart for places with the traditional dim sum carts, and i felt that this spot was overall better than ocean city/harbor in chinatown. the cart ladies kind of swarm you the second you are seated, but they don't really come back to offer you a second look. we ordered a spread, and i got my staples of chicken feet and shrimp rice rolls. i also liked their char siu buns and the stir fried green beans! the turnip cake was kind of flavorless and i probably wouldn't get that again. i just love the experience of the dim sum carts, it's so fun to be able to look directly at your options. it was fairly busy on sunday afternoon, but we were seated with no issue. the space is quite large, and it looks like they also host special events and weddings. can't wait to come back!

Ocean City is a Cantonese restaurant at 234 N. 9th Street in the heart of Philadelphia's Chinatown,…read moreknown for its dim sum and seafood. Dim sum is served daily until 3 p.m. in the traditional way, with rolling carts stacked with steamer baskets coming right to your table. It's one of the few places in Chinatown that still does cart service, and it makes the meal feel like a proper dim sum outing instead of just filling out an order sheet. I came for the dim sum and ordered the congee, har gow, and siu mai. The congee is the dish many people point to as the biggest reason to come, and it was smooth, comforting, and a great start to the meal. The har gow and siu mai came out hot and fresh from the steamers, which is exactly what you want from the classics. Picking dishes off the carts as they pass is half the fun, and the large dining room is built for groups, so it's a good fit for a big table where everyone can share and try a little of everything. The setting is no-frills, in the best way. It's a big, busy room that's focused on the food, and it keeps a steady crowd through the weekend dim sum rush. Prices are fair for the amount you eat. If you're in Chinatown and want a traditional dim sum meal, Ocean City is a solid pick and worth a stop.

- Hits and misses, but some real standouts…read more Went with a group so we got to try a huge variety of dishes - Kung Pao chicken, roast duck, ginger scallion lobster, salt & pepper lamb chops, sweet & sour pork, sizzling black pepper beef, General Tso's chicken, and a few dim sum plates. On the good side, the sticky rice in lotus leaf and the pork shumai were excellent - probably the best thing we had all night. Flavorful, well-steamed, and you can tell they're made fresh. The lobster and the General Tso's plate were pretty solid too. Unfortunately it was inconsistent. The roast duck was very dry, skin wasn't crisp the way you want it to be, and the sizzling beef on the hot plate was tough to the point of being inedible. For a place with this many options, the execution varies a lot from dish to dish. The other big downside was the restroom - one of the dirtiest I've ever seen in a restaurant, which really takes away from the sit-down dining experience. Overall, 3 out of 5. Good variety and if you order the right things (sticky rice, pork shumai) you can have a great meal, but I wouldn't order the duck or beef again.
