Unfortunately, this visit left me feeling uncomfortable, dismissed, and taken advantage of. I struggle with significant anxiety around doctors, especially in clinical settings, and instead of feeling supported, I felt judged and spoken down to. The provider I met with had very poor bedside manner and made assumptions about me and my body within minutes of meeting me. At one point, she even commented that I was "getting bright red" while questioning me, which only heightened my anxiety. I was too nervous to speak up in the moment. What stood out the most was being told multiple times that I "never have to come back" and could just return to the Smithtown location. That felt unprofessional and dismissive--especially given that I had just paid a significant amount out of pocket for the visit. To make matters worse, I was informed that treatment would require a follow-up appointment, leaving me feeling stuck after spending money on a visit that ultimately didn't help me. I deeply regret not staying with my original location. I've referred many friends and family members to Schweiger Dermatology over the years and truly value the practice as a whole, which is why this experience was so disappointing. I sincerely wish my visit to the Deer Park office had reflected the level of care and compassion I've consistently received elsewhere.

She diagnosed my skin issue right away and prescribed me a creme that helped resolve my skin issues. She also gave great advice to deal with flare ups and recommended products to use everyday to help prevent flare ups. She also gave me some samples of lotion to take home. These doctors are hard to find since not everyone is certified to perform this type of exam. I called several places and many either no longer existed or were not taking new pilots. Luckily, Dr Panzer's office was only about ten minutes from me. I stopped by without an appointment, not realizing walk-ins are not really accepted even though some of their online listings make it seem that way. To clarify, there are two separate medical offices in the same building, and only one side is Dr Panzer's practice where he handles FAA exams. The other side is unrelated. Even without an appointment, they were kind enough to fit me in. I waited a short time since another patient ahead of me needed extra attention, which was understandable. The nurse who took my vitals and Dr Panzer himself were both professional and courteous. The entire experience was smooth and welcoming. I left feeling genuinely satisfied and relieved to have found a good FAA medical examiner nearby. Highly recommend this place to any pilot who needs their FAA medical done right.

When I mentioned the blue light on my next visit he said remind me why we aren't doing that to you ?because you NEVER MENTIONED IT AS AN OPTION. I called last week and told the female who answered that my face was oozing, bleeding in spots, she said that is supposed to happen. I said on the directions is says not to put on an open wound , is why I'm calling. She replied and I quote " maybe you should just avoid those areas" I went there the other day and my face is all infected. No idea why some says MAYBE you should do something instead of asking a DOCTOR. Also they got blood all over an expensive Levis shirt, I said why wouldn't you ask me to take it off and give me a gown to wear? When filling the prescription for the chemo cream I was told the cost would be $300 , when it was ready I was told it was $80 . I asked how it got cheaper. She said they prescribed a larger tube that the pharmacy didn't have in stock. They gave me a smaller tube and assured me it would be enough. After applying twice a day for 3 weeks I have 3/4 of the smaller tube left. No clue why they prescribed such a large tube, so I would waste hundreds of dollars ????? Sorry to say I'm unhappy with this practice.

Dr. Slear is the complete package -- brilliant, kind, and genuinely compassionate. What sets her apart from other doctors is her presence. When you are in the room with her, she is truly with you. No distractions, no rushing, no sense that she has somewhere more important to be. You have her full, undivided attention, and that means everything when it comes to your health. Her responsiveness is equally impressive. In the rare event of an urgent situation, you can leave a message and trust that it will reach her. She consistently responds within 24 hours -- which, for a busy specialist, speaks volumes about her dedication to her patients. My entire family sees Dr. Slear, and we all feel the same way: she is exceptional. I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone in need of a dermatologist... though selfishly, I'd prefer to keep her a secret so I can always get an appointment! In all seriousness, if you are looking for a dermatologist who combines top-tier expertise with genuine warmth and care, look no further than Dr. Amy Slear. Five stars. Without question.
