The "Frutta Bowl." Fresh cut fruit with Nutella and peanut butter. $10 a bowl. 2 bites missing :)
Mark V.

A creative, amazingly delicious and even healthier 5-star snack alternative to fro yo using fresh fruits but execution is at 3 stars. A very impressive new snack concept greets you at frutta bowls! Freshly cut fruits atop exotic "bases" such as acai with delicious toppings such as Nutella! Incredibly popular with hip, younger patrons who dig the cool joint with music playing boosting a smarter, tastier and healthy looking treat. As I said this is a refreshing alternstive to the usual fro yo and other frozen treats. Unfortunately a few things need to be addressed to elevate this idea to 5 stars. Let's start with the frutta bowl itself. Is it delicious, possibly even more than fro yo and others! YES IT IS!! It's refreshingly great I have to admit! They cut up the fruit right in front of you, pineapples, bananas, everything. They give you a freshly made cup for you to enjoy. OK here are my complaints. Other than oatmeal bowls which we will discuss later, your entry point to buy a snack here it is $10. That's pretty steep, especially if you plan to bring the family. I fed three people at a fro yo joint last week for $16. It would cost me $30 here. Is their snack fresher, tastier and healthier? Yes. But with that price it just cannot become a regular stop. Also and as to be expected, the bowl is smaller than a corresponding fro yo. I understand why people can't simply make their own bowl with the toppings they want like they do at fro yo places. But this establishment should offer a "small" option at let's say $7. This might help make it more mainstream and for families. So minus one star for the fixed $10 price. Now they do offer oatmeal bowls in the seven dollar range for breakfast. And honestly they look awesome! But for a regular frutta bowl snack you're looking at $10. Secondly the service and wait time. I recognize that they need to cut fresh fruit and that is a time-consuming activity, but it's not uncommon to wait 15 to 30 minutes to get your bowl. My personal opinion is that that they use so many very young workers. There should be at least one "adult" supervisor at all times. I went in and stood at the counter for at least seven or eight minutes with no line before one of the kids acknowledged I was even there. They were busy, but they should at least say I'll be right with you. I'm going to have to minus a star for the service here, but I will be happy to reverse it if I see this change in the future. Finally there's one other thing that rubs me the wrong way. When you buy your bowl a screen comes up asking for a tip. To me tips always accompany table service. There's nothing wrong with putting a can on the counter with the word "tips" written on it. I would definitely throw a few bucks in there. But having a screen pop up asking for a 15 to 20% tip automatically added to the credit card just doesn't seem right and feels a little offensive. Bottom line... You absolutely have to give this place a try! Pricier but tastier than other snack alternatives. Don't be in a rush though.

Frutta Bowls is the perfect place for when you are craving a healthy treat. They have tons of different options and bases. Pitaya is my absolute favorite (dragonfruit) price can seem to be high but considering its fresh fruit its expected. They make your bowl fresh to order so do expect to wait a few minutes for your order. My recommendations are Frutta bowl with pitaya base or frutella bowl with pitaya bass! Enjoy. They also have a rewards program but they never seem to ask for your info to put it in

The Frutella Bowl (SOOOOO Good!)

This place is amazing and I LOVE seeing new types of places open in this area. This trend is popular on the west coast so it's amazing that we now have it here in Freehold. There are so many delicious options to choose from. I ordered the Frutella Bowl, definitely not one of the healthiest choices. The base of the bowl was acai berries, a layer of granola, fresh strawberries and bananas and topped with peanut butter, Nutella and coconut flakes. It was delicious. The fruit was all cut fresh. The acai has no added apple juice like other places. If you're looking for something different and healthier than what I ordered they have so many different options, including a build your own bowl. There is also a kombucha bar. Since all the fruit is freshly cut expect a little wait. If you're in a rush I suggest calling first. While you're waiting they have plenty of seating. On the table where the couches are they even have USB ports to charge your devices. Price were very reasonable for the quality of food and size of the bowl. It looks small but is very filling. I couldn't even finish half a bowl. Support your local, small business owners!!! In an area plagued by mediocre chains this is seriously refreshing.

"Earth" hot oatmeal bowl with Nutella

My fiancée brought me here for the first time and proceeded to whoop my ass at Jenga and Connect 4. I still consider myself the winner though, since I got to enjoy the savory and sweet sides of Frutta Bowl. "The Bravacado" was absolutely amazing. The red pepper pesto pops in your mouth (don't worry, it's not too spicy). We added goat cheese crumbles to ours, and with the eggs and avocado spread it made for a really creamy texture. The toast itself was also lightly crunchy and chewy. For sweet, we had an "Earth" hot oatmeal bowl. We added Nutella, which was soooo delicious over the hot oatmeal and with the craisins. The bowl had the kale base, which I felt was sort of lost at the bottom. I think the Nutella was so overpowering that none of the other toppings were really noticeable. If it had just been oatmeal and Nutella, I would have been perfectly content. I also got to sample all the bowl bases: açaí, kale, and pitaya. The açaí just tasted like banana, and the pitaya was a little flavorless. The kale surprisingly was the best, it wasn't grassy like I would have expected. The best part of these bases is that they don't add any additional sugar, it's just blended fruits! I'm a fan of Frutta Bowl. It has a nice atmosphere and the food is made with wholesome, high quality ingredients.

Here is what I don't get about this place. Three employees plus maybe one more in the back. Only one making bowls and it takes that one employee 10 minutes per bowl!!!! I received my receipt at 8:10 pm. 8:32 and they just served a guest that came in AFTER I did his bowl??? Wtf!! Bad management and waste of resources. Not the first time. It certainly the last.. Oh they f&$)d up the order having to wait another ten minutes. One bowl two smoothies 8:42pm. That's 32 minutes for three things. Oh their wifi was down as well.

Coco Puff bowl- this is the looked after the 10 min drive from restaurant to home.

No. Nope. Nada. Nunca. I consider myself fair, honest and to the point when it comes to my reviews and I am not going to lie. So here it goes. We just had dinner at a spot next door. Decided to get Frutta Bowls and shakes to go as dessert. The two shakes blended and ready in no time, the ordered Coco Puff Bowl and a Fiji Bowl (no peanut butter), different story. Whats the point of saying NO Peanut Butter on the bowl I am ordering, if the person making it, is wearing gloves and yet is touching the half bent over hard to squeeze- squeeze bottle with peanut butter sauce in it, for the bowl before mine and is not swapping gloves between? Here is what I noticed as I stood waiting at the pick up counter. The prep food cut counter behind the glass, filthy. No wipe down of the metal aisle spacer between the condiment bowls between bowl creations. The pineapples out for display on the the other side of the glass counter- please clean them. The plastic white cutting board, filthy with fruit from all the bowls prepped before yours. The floor, again filthy- tracking stuff all over the back area, does no one have a mop? I know you have a broom, because the dust pan was on the floor. Please, pick up and sweep the discarded plastic gloves on the floor. But here is what got me, while cutting fruit, the prep persons are touching the refrigerator handle behind them, the door to the kitchen the "quite cover" for the blender, the sink faucet, the sink, the scoops handles for the fruit, the squeeze bottles, the order screen in front of them-- CHANGE the gloves- cross contamination- CROSS contamination!!!! Oh my gawd you an see the tacky fruit goo on the handles... The dust pan sitting on the floor. And Although the menu board says "who" is making your order, may not be the case, it's just the person that took the order, because I had 3 people making our order. Oh yep and the kicker, while making the bowls, prepper had to keep looking at the pretty menu board up behind them to see what ingredients go into the bowls they were making. Took 15.33 minutes for the Coco Puff bowl and then it wasn't lidded for "to go" as was requested for my whole order. Which by now my whole family is in the car and I am still at the pick up window waiting for the one Coco Puff bowl, while the Fiji bowl sat on the counter. Suggestions: Training for the team, maybe, at some point before actually having them create the bowls. Where is the manager? I saw a young man bringing out bananas by the bunches, as if this was the last fruit on the planet and the front of the house was running low, but not one person was wiping down any of the handles, counters, tables or the floors. People who came in after me, were walking out with their 1 bowl orders. I know it says each is "made to order and is fresh" so there is a wait time, but lets be realistic here-- half the fruit I saw was being scooped out of the prep trays. This location has HUGE potential to be so much more!!! Seriously. You have restaurants all around you. The hospital close by, not to mention gyms and who doesn't want a healthy shake or fruit bowl after a work out?! get it together. I stand by this review because if I am noticing the clean issue, so are other patrons and this is not good. Also - get the "tip" portion off the POS system, it's tacky, put a jar out.

Don't order smoothies from here they're horrible. $14.91 for two and it's not even blended well. There's visible chunks of kale.

Açaí bowl

First time having this, always wanted to try it out. Very good, refreshing and worth it. This is the regular size but you can also get a small. Ordered through the app and the process was easy. Definitely will be back to try something new!

Gross soupy gray "kale" base. Total ripoff.

This is the grossest looking bowl ive ever gotten from this place you've gotta be kidding me??????? This is supposed to be a Kale Base (green) why is this Gray & soupy? Ps the girl working had the worst attitude ive ever had to deal with, super rude and uncomfortable.

This is what I got after waiting for one hour. It was supposed to be a frozen hot chocolate bowl.

We stopped by the Playa Bowls location thanks to a Yelp New Jersey Elite Squad New Jersey event and got to try a complimentary bowl. The menu is impressively expansive and while they are known for their classic acai and pitaya (dragon fruit) bases, they have branched out with options like mango, banana, coconut, and green blends, so there is truly something for every craving. Each bowl is loaded with fresh fruit and finished with many toppings. The Mango Power Bowl is a standout with mango vanilla protein, granola, banana, and peanut butter.
