The Sausage Cheddar Sandwich with egg and peppers on rosemary bread was delicious and oh so rich and filling--half for breakfast, half for lunch. Even with reduced hours Sage Hills is even more busy--not their first rodeo--they began 18 years ago on Spring Street, then moved to this luxurious site six years ago. Beyond sandwiches, I found quiche, biscuits, and gravy, fruit and yogurt, and steel cut oatmeal. This pretty much rounds out anything you'd want for breakfast or lunch. Today was our second visit but the first to include food. We are in town for the week and stopped by for coffee three days ago and bantered a bit with the woman working the counter whose name we found out today is Amber. She's so awesome! I hope that business knows just how amazing she is and treats her accordingly. That first day we only ordered coffee and really liked it and the banter lifted us up a bit so that was cool. Today we went in for breakfast and coffee. She remembered us and everything unique about that first encounter. It was a good feeling after a crazy few days so that was wonderful. We also met Hannah who made the excellent coffees we had. We ordered a croque monsieur with an egg on top, a beirock (not sure I'm spelling that right), quiche and a morning bun. Everything was delicious! The beirock had eggs, cheese and bacon in it in a fully closed bun. That bun had such a good flavor that I would only order that next time. The quiche was creamy and smooth but the crust wasn't good. Our daughter who lives here and loves this place, especially their quiche (she says it's better than mine, lol) says the crust usually isn't as bad as it was today. For me, it tasted like it was microwaved (and maybe it was) and that taste and texture is not good. The filling was so tasty though. The morning bun was delicious. I don't normally love sweets for breakfast but it was yummy. The croque was fan-frickin-tastic and while Randy says he's had one that's better, it's not much better and he absolutely loved it. As a long-time Wenatchee resident who moved away in 2017, I was excited to try a new spot after recently moving back. I remembered this location as a family-run Mexican restaurant and was intrigued to see what Luis had done with the place--I've met him in the past and wanted to support the venture. First impressions were promising. We were greeted warmly by a friendly young man at the front, and shortly after sitting down, someone else brought us water without delay. The service started off strong and professional. Then our waitress arrived--and unfortunately, that's where things shifted. She didn't greet us or offer a smile--just asked if we wanted anything besides water. We placed our drink orders, but her demeanor felt cold and unwelcoming. When she returned with our drinks, the energy didn't improve. We placed our food order and hoped for the best. When our meals arrived, they looked good--but we were missing a couple of items. We let her know, and she corrected it quickly, which we appreciated. Still, she seemed frustrated and disengaged throughout. To top it off, while I was still eating, she returned--not to check on how things were--but to ask if we were ready to cash out. I let her know I wasn't quite finished yet. About ten minutes later, I motioned that we were ready, and she dropped the handheld payment device on the table without a word. No "how was everything?"--just silence. It was clear she was ready for us to go. Despite the lackluster service, I still left a 15% tip--because everyone has off days. And I genuinely want this place to succeed. The food was good, and the environment shows promise. We'll be back to give breakfast a try, and I'm hopeful the next visit reflects the pride and care that I know Luis wants this place to represent. I found McGlinn's in Yelp and decided I would add to my steps and walk there. When I got to McGlinn's I saw that their outside seating was full, so I went inside and was led to a table. There a very friendly and helpful server took my drink order and gave me a menu. I decided on the pepperoni pizza and was happy with what I got. It was a very thin crust, luckily I prefer thin crust. My experience with pepperoni pizza led me to believe it would be soaked in pizza grease. I was surprised when there was very little grease left on the tray.
