My friend Tiffany took me for some frozen love (shaved ice) this evening and OMG YUMMMMMM! I had Wedding Cake with cream. She got Tigers Blood with creme...feels like being a kid BUT with a grown up flavor. Cheap cheap cheap! 1.50$ for 9oz (breakfast size) 1.75$ for 10oz (lunch size) 2.50$ for 16oz (dinner size) We both got dinner size which honestly was a little toooo big for me, next time I think I will just get lunch, yes arent the names for each size cute? Starf*ks eat your heart out on cool size names! Did I mention they have like 39 different flavors? The usuals like cherry and lime...OR how about something fun like Wedding Cake, Silver Fox or maybe some Cotten Candy? oh and then with any flavor you can add cream...if you dont care about the bonus calories? which you shouldnt cause its freakn yummy tasting! This is the reason to live in Loomis. Every year once the weather starts to warm up this mysterious little trailer shows up next to the hardware store offering the best "SNOW CONES" I have ever tasted. All of the flavors are delicious and their prices are rock bottom. 1.50$ for 9oz (breakfast size) 1.75$ for 10oz (lunch size) 2.50$ for 16oz (dinner size) Now my wife calls herself a Shaved Ice connoisseur and her only complaint is the fact that they use crushed ice not shaved ice. Sno-Topia was recently opened up around they corner and I am unsure of what they were thinking as this place has been a fixture in the Loomis community and will surely put them out of business. Sadly the little trailer disappears every year when the weather turns, however be on the lookout for when it magically reappears. read more

Frozen In Time is one of those local shops that make it impossible to ever want to move away from Loomis. You just know you're not going to find anything better anywhere else. Frozen In Time has three sizes: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Usually when it comes to desserts I have a bottomless pit of a stomach, but the lunch is the perfect size for me. They have a HUGE variety of flavors and fun combinations of flavors with cute names like Shark Finn, Godzilla (my personal favorite!) and Silver Fox. All of their syrups are homemade and taste phenomenal and very true-to-flavor. Sometimes you get those cones where the flavor is off -- the bubblegum is faint, the lime is too sweet, but their syrups are perfect. They also have a unique "cream" you can ask for (I believe it is 50 cents extra) that is AWESOME. The cream comes on some of the flavors already, like Wedding Cake (which yes, tastes identical!), but I prefer it on the orange flavor for a creamsicle, or root beer for a float flavor. SO AMAZING. The owners are lovely, SUPER friendly people who always have a smile on their face. In summers past they've seen me nearly every day, sometimes multiple times a day because I love them SO much. Nothing beats freshly shaved ice on a hot summer's day, and honestly, while I love Taylor's across the street, sometimes the idea of ice cream is too heavy for the heat, so shaved ice is the perfect pick-me-up. I first came across FITSI at a graduation party a few years ago. Loved the product. Loved the truck. Knew I was eventually going to be giving them a call for an event. They came out to our school's Sports Awards Night. Here are the things I really appreciated. Allison was a tremendous help on the phone. A snow cone truck?! Oh ya! Driving back from showing a house in Newcastle and saw this little street side gem. I had heard rumor of its existence, but had never seen it. I pulled right over. Quick, friendly service. The ice was light and fluffy, and the syrup choices were vast. They even offered sugar free! Nothing beats a good old fashioned snow cone on a hot day. The syrups are homemade and very good! The service is quick and friendly and there is a shade spot to sit in the back to enjoy your treat. The only negative is that it isn't real shaved ice, rather than very small crushed ice. It is truly a gem of a find! read more
