There's a lot to love about to this location but a recent visit has me looking elsewhere and it might be something simple. The ice has changed recently, maybe another machine is being used I can't be sure but the ice has gotten thicker/harder and it's not the Hawaiian consistency that I loved from this place. Maybe they had a busy day on the ice and used another machine for more output but either way the quality of the ice payed for it. Their flavors and service are great and it's nice having the drive thru option. They accept credit cards and there's plenty of great options to choose from. For me it's about the ice though. This is my second time here and I honestly regret it. There were some young adults working there who weren't really paying attention as I was ordering. I ordered a Pina Colada And Sour Watermelon snow cone and had to return to ask for it to be sour because paid .75 to have it and they forgot it. When I got it back (out of spite) it was so sour that it wasn't edible, it was waxy and bitter. The "Pina Colada" snow cone was just coconut and didn't realize it until I pulled off. I'd heard about this place but had never been until this weekend. It's in an unassuming "strip mall" of sorts and even has a little drive-thru. You can also park in the back and order/sit inside to eat if you prefer. That's what we did so we could take our time to peruse the menu. There are tons of flavors, but in the end I chose dreamsicle and my husband chose half grape and half raspberry. Even a small is a lot of ice, which is a good treat on a hot day. The only downside was that I didn't get a lot of syrup with mine, and there were white spots in the middle of my cup. This made for a very dry sno-cone and I had to let it sit for a bit to melt so that there was enough syrup to eat the rest (we had left by this point or I would have asked for more). The summer weather in Pflugerville Texas can be excruciatingly hot, which is only compounded by the fact that it almost never rains. There are very few places where P'ville residents can seek refuge from the heat, and in the face of these circumstances, something as simple as a busted a/c unit can make a fifteen minute commute feel like an eternity. Everyday when I step out of my house I'm reminded of childhood stories about Native Americans and Rainmakers, and I pray to the gods of meteorology that I may receive even the slightest bit of cloud cover on my way to work. My coping mechanism of choice is cold drinks and other such beverages, so naturally I get a little excited whenever I'm offered an alternative to diet sodas and iced coffee. I visited Frost Bites today and was pleasantly surprised to find such a wonderful establishment based in my own backyard. I hardly consider myself an authority on snack foods and frozen treats, but I'm tentatively giving Frost Bites a five star rating because of the range of flavors offered, the overall quality of their product, and the coziness of their venue. I'm a snowball snob. I was thrilled to find Casey's when I moved here, but I was just as happy to discover Frost Bites when I ended up in NE Austin. Bonus points for the drive-through! The staff is friendly (they love when my dogs are riding with me), the flavors are good. I tend to get either Silver Fox or Wedding Cake with Black Cherry and cream, but one weekend I tried one of the coffee options (cold brewed coffee over shaved ice with cream). It was SO GOOD. The only thing I don't like is that the chocolate flavor (the one time I ordered it) wasn't what I was expecting, but in general I really like this place. The food is great but it's very obvious that it's a hostile work environment. One of the managers was grating the teenage employees about how the shop wasn't clean enough. It seemed plenty clean to me. She was using very harsh language and threatening to fire them. It made me feel so sad for the employees, and also made me consider if I wanted to come back. Been here several times over the last couple of months for a delicious frosty treat and I have not been disappointed! The kids running the stall are friendly and I'm immediately assisted. So far I've had the coconator and the mangonator. I love both of them but probably the coconator a little bit more as it has a little bit more to it, but the mangonator was awesome since it had fresh chunks of mango in it. I decided one night to take my mom to this place I'd been raving about. There were two other cars in the drive through they got through relatively quick. When they got to my car they took my order and requested that I pull up to the curb. We waited for about 45 minutes for our order to be brought to the car. I even went inside to check on the order and was told that they're backed up but will get it out soon. Had I known my order would take 45 I would have just gotten ice cream from HEB for my kids. We ordered two small sno cones and a smoothie. The smoothie was for my mom. It was HORRIBLE, doi NOT purchase a smoothie from here! The smoothie had an undesirable taste. Will I be back? Also, they took our order in a place where we couldn't see the signs detailing what they offered. I visited Frost Bites for the first time on Saturday. It was hands down the BEST snow cone I have had. The shaved ice used is very fine, which is the best, because it just melts in your mouth. They have many flavors to choose from. I tried four so far. They don't skimp on the flavor either, I hate when I get to the end of my snow cone and I am left with ice. Best quality I have had. Owners/staff are very friendly. You can stay in your car and order from the drive thru, sit outside and enjoy, or eat indoors. You have to try this place! You will not be disappointed. i have to revoke stars from 2015. it's so hit or miss nowadays. sometimes the ice has nice crunchy substance. sometimes it's that awful mush that melts when the syrup hits it. last week i got one with so much syrup it nearly sloshed over the side of the cup when they handed it to me, and when my husband took it back for a new one they didn't seem to understand what the problem was. mine was okay syrup-wise, but we went on a gross mushy ice day. we used to go all the time, but this season we've only been 2 or 3 times because each time is so mediocre and disappointing. read more

We used to love this place when they first opened 3 summers ago. But slowly overtime things just go downhill. I like a previous reviewer have been at the location during "business hours" and no one is there. Late last summer we started getting pieces of plastic "shaved" bag in our sno cones. Talk about not only health hazard but dangerous to my 2 year old at the time who would eat their sno cones. The major down turn for us was we have visited the location 3 times since they re-opened and then on Saturday they had changed their prices by about $1 per sno cone. Doesn't sound like a lot but when we are purchasing 3-5 sno cones at time.. My question would be why not change prices when you first open? I also have an issue with posting the "new" prices on the window your staff conveniently swings open and it gets covered by the flavor list. If the sno cones were consistent we would continue to go but they just aren't- and they don't know how to pack the ice in the cups the small is half full by the time they had it out the window because they don't pack the ice!
