Over the last few years, I have known I needed to get a new roof, yet the funds weren't there. I had several roofing companies come out to my home for bids over a span of 4 years. 0ne company only did a satellite inspection of my roof, others came and inspected my attic, yet never went onto my roof, and 3 performed a full in person inspection in my attic and on my roof. I ended up choosing Roof and Nails for many reasons. David was my sales representative and first contact with this company, and he was very thorough in his inspection and in helping me understand all the steps this company would take in providing a great quality roof. Other companies also thoroughly explained the process, yet I feel Roof & Nails provides great quality, more protection, at an affordable rate. Through this entire process and before getting my new roof , I have watched how neighbors on both sides and across the street have received new roofs, yet they weren't given the superior quality I ended up getting and they paid the same or more for a 20 yr roof than my now 50 year roof. The material was dropped off on a Thursday and work started a few days later. At this point, Johnathan was my contact person for this project. Communication was great and he took care of everything. Johnathan has a professional crew who are great, hardworking and respectful. They also cleaned up very well afterwards. I have documented pictures of each step in putting together my roof. They even permanently added four OSHA compliant safety lifeline anchors for any future roof-related workers to use. None of my neighbors received these anchors with their new roofs. Last, yet not least, I feel I have come to know David and Johnathan better as individuals. They are good, honest, and down-to-earth family guys. I can't say that of all the companies I interacted with. This is something I considered when choosing a company. How are they as people, how do they treat their employees? This fact may not be important to others, yet It's important to me. The price was about right, they came out quickly and finished the job in about 4 days. The PM said everything was cleaned and the crew left. I went outside to check and found over 100 roofing nails scattered around my entire house. I used my own rolling magnet to get as many as I could, asked the PM to send a crew back and they did. After the 2nd pass by the crew, I took my magnet bar again and found another 20+ nails. I called the PM again, they sent someone again and I thought it was done. 3 months later I just stepped on a half inch roofing nail, and had to get a tetanus shot because of the laziness / low quality clean up.

I don't quite understand all of the 5-star rating postings. Regarding my own experience, I definitely would not recommend. I tend to think with so many 5-star ratings, and the poor customer service I have experienced, they are posting their own 5-ratings. Even the best businesses have some less-than-five-star ratings! He came out to take a look, but never came followed-up to fix the workmanship issues like, unfinished flashing around one of the skylights, flashing set too close (touching) to the barge boards, which resulted in the wood trim (barge boards) rotting out -- to name a few issues. What is even more mysterious is when you the company (503-628-6322 -- as posted on their Website), I always get an eternal busy signal. In addition, there actual address (location) posted online (before and after the pandemic) is (16055 SW Walker Rd #110, Beaverton, OR 97006) which is a post office box next to the Fred Meyer on Walker Road in Beaverton, Oregon. I've been told such a post-office-box-only scenario is something consumers should most often avoid. My friend who used to be a bank examiner for the FDIC said this was very indicative of a mismanaged and/or nefarious company. My friend said in the finance world, such PO Box scenarios have a nick-name as a place to send your: "Payment Only" -- meaning that such a business doesn't regularly intend to pay their bills or honor our word/contract, or the law. According to the Secretary of States Office David Somerville is an authorized representative for this company. In conclusion: I got a sense that the owner was not a roofer, or a very good roofer, because when he was on the roof he was standing on the ridge roof cap. This is something you NEVER want to do! No follow-up to correct workmanship issues; Not honoring your workmanship contract or your word; No answering your phone (eternally busy); No designated place of business, but just a PO Box. Are all good reasons NOT to do business with Ability Plus Roofing. What a charlatan! Recommendation to Karl: Maybe you should change the name of the company to: Inability Invisibility Roofing? Karl or David, I would be happy to change or "upgrade" my documented negative posting, but you'll first have to follow-through on what you said you were going to do!

This company made numerous mistakes on our project. We paid the full amount, but afterward there were continued problems with completing the work and repairs, along with additional damage caused during the project. We paid $47,000 for a large-scale job, yet they continued to make errors on a daily basis while attempting to conceal them from us. One of the most alarming examples was that they installed Window! flashing across the entire roof. (David's Idea!). I can't even count how many times I had to clean nails out of the street and garden, as well as oil stains from the driveway and street, after they left. One of the workers was pulled into the gutter machine right in front of my eyes. Thankfully, another worker managed to shut the machine off in time. The workers from this company are vulgar and aggressive. They reacted aggressively when I asked them not to damage my property, because they destroyed many things during the project. I was only able to learn the truth from the security cameras because they lied to me when I asked what had happened. The owner of the company did not respond to the aggressive behavior of the workers, even though we informed him about it many times. The company owner should ensure that workers have access to proper restroom facilities. At the beginning of the project, there were none, and one of the workers relieved himself in my yard--in plain view of me!
