For the parent of a child with special needs, this facility is to be avoided at all costs and for those lucky parents of mainstream children: beware. There is no one watching over your student. Blake, my son's case coordinator, conducts himself like a pre-adolescent Neanderthal on muscle relaxants. He is incompetent, unresponsive, unprofessional and lazy. He has no knowledge of special education beyond that of a first year psych under-grad and he is proud to announce in meetings that he is unavailable the day after Halloween because he is planning on partying too much. Often, when his responses are actually intelligible, he is typically saying something along the extremely erudite lines of, "I don't know what you want me to do about it." Drug and alcohol abuse run rampant on campus and students walk off campus as they please despite not having passes. Administrators are distant and uninvolved and do not seem to mind having unprofessional individuals under their employ, who do irreparable damage without sanction or consequence. Parents, look elsewhere and do so quickly. Do not let the pretty buildings fool you.

The school overlooks beautiful hills and houses. -They have a better arts center than most community colleges. -The facility is clean. -Beautiful sports facilities:including a pool, baseball field, track, football/lacrosse field -The custodians are friendly -FOOTBALL HAS GONE UP IN RANKINGS and THEY HAVE RECRUITED A FEW PEOPLE FOR CERTAIN SPORTS so needless to say they are projecting in the right direction with that (back in the day they were a joke) -The parents seem very actively involved especially with donations -many kids I have met here were very studious and went off to good colleges. However I am not certain that it is because of the school itself that allowed for that to happen. Most of the parents are college educated. -Los virgenes is a very small school district and a good one at that -the parking lots make the school look like a luxury car dealership (lol) The real reason why I am writing this review though is because Ive seen some weird stuff here. To be honest it is not unusual for students to be behaving the way I am about to explain (they are teenagers after all) but I am complaining because I know that if I had children who went here I know I would want there to be more security. There is a serious problem with the gate that stays open by the track. i see kids coming in and out whenever they please: During second period, right after first period or whenever! They just walk out in groups. And no one says anything. Not the PE teachers who are teaching their classes nor the maintenance or whatever. They get into the car and literally speed off and some come back later. Some are actually staying in their cars (doing who knows what...very suspicious behavior). As i said earlier this is really common in high school (so just because I am saying this does not mean that you should be worried, it's virtually everywhere), but I think what Im trying to say is that the school does not care if your child stays. We offered to Zelle, pay cash or donate to their football team. We also explain how we came from an hour drive and yet no compassion and refused to let us in. She was super unprofessional and inconsiderate because she was racist because we are Mexican and from another school. She let someone else without a ticket in just because she was from the school and she quote "bought the wrong ticket for the wrong day" and let in a lot of white men in with no ticket right in front of our face. Never have I experienced this for HIGH SCHOOL football game. If they are following policy it should be for everyone not for selected people. In addition, they have sign saying no re-entry!!! I know their staff definitely needs training because we are all humans and we want to supports the ones we love. It's devastating that have to have to explain to my brother why I couldn't be there to support him. I don't recommend supporting this school if they are not there to support the kids. In addition, it's not even for safety reasons because they checked my bag and patted me down.

First of all the programs provided/academic classes are very good but bad execution. What I mean by…read morethat is a good amount of teachers are NOT good. When I say not good I mean NOT good at all. Many students complain about the same teachers each year. They definitely have one of the best Visual arts program (Vocal Music, Instrumental Music, Broadcasting, Dance, Photography, Filmmaking, Stage Tech. I felt welcomed in this community, all the teachers are amazing in Visual Arts. The math teachers are not good at all so be aware. Only 2 out of the 6, from the year I went, actually taught me instead just posting notes and hoping you understand or just being a terrible teacher. Mind you many students have complained NUMEROUS times for many years about the same 2 math teachers and they are still teaching at that school. The atmosphere is supposed to be welcoming and inclusive but sadly a lot of students make that impossible every year. This is not a normal highschool experience. That can be okay sometimes but in this case, the negatives out weight the positives. When you voice that you are being bullied, or other concerns that conflict with your mental health they brush it off. They do not care about mental health here AT ALL. This school is filled with outcasts who 110% struggle with mental health problems and they don't do jack about it. It is frustrating dealing with faculty and administrators because they never do anything. Not all but most. Bullying is a real thing here but everyone refuses to deny it cause its "a very welcoming community". A friend of mine once reported someone for threatening to kill them selves and they brushed it off like it was nothing, multiple times, on many different occasions. The least they can do is send them to counseling and at least try to speak to the student. Most students wont say anything but just having someone reaching out and showing that they care is a huge step. When a serious allegation is reported, the faculty doesn't even try. During my time at Santa Su, a sexual assault allegation was going around. Many students knew and so did the school but they did NOTHING. No investigating, interviewing bystanders, nothing. Much help is needed in the administration department Students start drama here way more than an average highschool. Anywhere you go there will be drama and rumors but ere it is times 2. Any rumors started, spread like wildfire and can ruin ur whole experience at Santa Su. So be aware. The yearbook seems to always get worse every year. Senior baby photos and senior quotes are something students look forward to. They promise it every year I was there, and never actually add it in the yearbook which is just very disappointing. They make up stuff you never even said. The school itself is always disorganized. Santa Su is for smart students, to be honest. They don't really have good help for people who actually need some or are just an average student looking for help. Its not inclusive as it says it is. Yes, its a magnet school but don't advertise you are all inclusive if you cant even help your students who need it. This is from average students perspective.

The second kid is going to 8th grade this fall. The culture in Medea is much like the culture in other schools in OPUSD: the educators, parents and students are all on the same page to propel each other going forward, to achieve growth in all areas of the kids lives. Medea is the right school to be if your focus is your child's growth and your child is ready to take on some good challenges from the teachers. The traffic can be avoided if you time it well.
