He went from being a great student to failing. Once he left Knolls, he was behind his academics. It was a lot of work but we got him back on track. Before he left Knolls, I tried getting him help but it was useless. I reached out to his teacher, Mrs. Landy, and asked her to please take a moment and help him. It was obvious she was not concerned about my son and stated she had a full class and two grades to handle. I kept my attitude with Mrs.Landy very civil but I was truly upset when my son expressed various confrontations with Mrs. Landy. 1. Mrs Landy asked my son if he needed help with specific math (my son knew his fractions but needed help with word problems). Therefore he said he was fine (referring to fractions). Mrs. Landy then stated sarcastically "okay when you get a bad grade dont say I didn't try." Secondly, i have never received any complaints about my son. Having said that, when I received a note that my son was being disruptive in class I became upset. I called out my son and asked him what he had done. This only made my son upset and he began to cry and said he did not know. I reached out to Mrs. Landy in regards to this complaint and she stated my son wasn't wearing his "mask" properly and a student in his table had complained. Perhaps moving that child would of been a better option than to go as far as sending out these types of letters. I can go on and on. Our students need teachers who take the time to "care." These are rough times for everyone but they are the hardest for our children. Please provide these children with a good experience. Its plain SAD when they have these horrible experiences that they can't erase.

The facilities (beautiful shaded playground, fun classrooms and swimming pool!), welcoming and caring staff and teachers, and enrichment programs (Spanish, physical education, music) were all such a blessing. My daughter started when she was 3.5 with Mrs. Silva and Ms. Riley. My daughter typically has a hard time with new environments but got comfortable with the school right away - she only cried at her first drop off and never again. She ended the year with so many friends and great relationship with her teachers - especially Ms. Riley. She also learned all her letters and numbers. This year, she has been in the pre-K program with Ms. Adele and Mrs. Zangri. It has been a great year so far with learning math, science and sparkle words! My son started in the infant room a year ago with Ms. Alexa and Mrs. Taiko. In the fall, he moved to the toddler room with Mrs. Claudia, Mrs. Ana and Ms. Krysten. All the teachers are so loving and I can tell how my son has bonded with them. I especially loved all the work the teachers put into the open house and other family activities like the Halloween parade, grandparents day, and holiday performance. They create a great sense of community by involving the parents in so much of what goes on at the school. I would highly highly recommend this daycare/pre-school to any family that is close enough. We commuted from Chatsworth and it was totally worth it!

The Good -- The PTA. It's improved. A lot. It's now run by a responsible group that is really committed to raising funds and implementing quality programs for the kids. The Mediocre -- The parents. With the exception of a few, the parent involvement is pretty lame. Same group of parents that volunteer at every event. The BAD -- The Principal. One of the worst I've ever seen. She attempts to run the school like a military base. She has her sights set on climbing the LAUSD ladder and, clearly, every decision she makes is geared toward furthering her personal goals as opposed to creating a nurturing, fun, inspiring environment for the kids. And this isn't just my opinion. Every teacher, parent and student hates her.
