Best cleaners. Family run business. Always satisfied with service. They fix buttons without you telling them.

    Encinitas Cleaners

    (4 reviews)

I like to patronize small local businesses so when I saw Encinitas Cleaners and read their website…read moreI decided to go with them. I have been diagnosed with a serious illness and knew I would be unemployed and housebound for months so I wanted my carpets really clean. I talked to the secretary, Patricia, who assured me that someone would be available on Sunday ( I called on a Friday) and I was surprised to know it would be $69. I asked if the equipment was a potable unit because I didn't think that would get my carpets clean. She said it would be something called a "truck mount" I moved almost all my furniture out by myself on Sunday morning then received a call that " a technician had fallen down the stairs" and they were looking for someone else to come and would call me back. No one called me back so I called back after several hours. The man who answered said no one was available and when I asked him why no one called me he said I was a "difficult woman". This should have been my warning. I moved all my furniture back inside. On Monday morning I received a call from Encinitas cleaners saying was I ready for my ONE ROOM to be cleaned. I said no I had wanted my house cleaned. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room and hallway. The person said they could do that so I move everything out AGAIN. Someone else from the cleaners called to verify my ONE ROOM to be cleaned and I explained again that I had a full house. Again they said okay. Another person called from the cleaners to verify my ONE ROOM to be cleaned. I just about cancelled but I had all my furniture outside and really wanted my carpets cleaned. I called the office to make sure they had on file that I had requested my whole house cleaned and they said yes. I don't know where this one room thing came from. Anyway, a man named Ben showed up in a very small van. I was concerned because I thought I was getting a really big machine but this turned out to be a portable machine. I said I wanted something heavier because I wanted my carpets really cleaned. Ben assured me he would do a fantastic job so I went ahead and said yes. I also told him that I had three area rugs I needed cleaned and he called someone, presumably his boss to find out the extra charge. Ben then told me the whole fee for the home and the rugs would be $479!!!! Quite a stretch from $69. I asked him why so much and he said because it was a big place and very dirty. By this time I just wanted my carpets cleaned so I agreed. But there was a a problem.... The credit card machines were down so could I use Venmo? Again, exasperated I agreed. Ben proceeded to clean my home in only one and a half hours. He blew several fuses which he didn't fix, left my area rugs in a hallway used by other tenants in my apartment complex and then left. I had to leave as well since my carpets were soaking wet. When I returned 5 hours later, my carpets were still soaked, half my house was dark and the carpets still looked dirty. I had to lift the still wet 8x10 area rugs up onto the pool railings by myself! I had to go spend the night at a neighbors as my home was unlivable. The next morning my carpets were still wet. My apt manager came over to reset the fuses which had been blown and remarked that " I bet your carpets are still wet since he used a portable". She also said that it didn't even look as if it had been cleaned. I called Encinitas Cleaners to complain. The man I talked to said that each person is an independent contractor and sets their own rate. When I asked who Ben called to get his pricing , the man said he didn't know. He also told me I was an annoying woman and shouted at me. By this time my mother had arrived from Spokane to help nurse me through my treatments. I had the phone on speaker and she couldn't believe this man was yelling at me. I asked him who was "Ophir Ganot" , the person I had paid through Venmo. He said he didn't know. The man who was shouting at me is named Eric. I sent Eric pictures of my filthy carpet and he agreed this was not a good job. He said he could send Ben again to te-do the carpets. I agreed. Unfortunately the next day after my treatment I was sicker than a dog and had to cancel. My mom returned a text asking why I cancelled and told them I was very ill. When I was feeling better I called Encinitas Cleaners's again to reschedule. The call went straight to voicemail. I did not receive a call back. I called again. No call back. I called again. No call back. I called for 5 days in a row with no call back. My carpets are dirty, I am unemployed and very ill and this company is a sham. I found a picture of Ophir Ganot on the internet and he certainly is NOT local and this company is not to be trusted. I am stuck with carpets I can barely walk on and am now broke. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!
