I was a little turned off that I had to schedule an appointment and when I got there, the guy (forgot his name) was finishing up and I had to wait around 10-15 minutes. That by itself wasn't a huge deal but while I was waiting there was a different barber doing nothing. He was probably waiting for his next appointment but if it were walk-in I could have gotten started earlier. I explained to my barber that I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted so we discussed different styles and options. He was very helpful and ended up giving me the best hair cut I've gotten in terms of execution. I went several months ago and am not sure I'd go with the same style again but the cut itself was great. My biggest gripe is with barber shops in general and not particularly this place. As booked up as he was I was second in line for a cut after this Covid nonsense. When I got home I noticed my mustache was a bit uneven so I decided to give him a call. He asked me to come back in straight away but I was a bit busy and wasn't going to make it by closing time, I told him it wasn't that big of a deal and that I just come back in when he opened up on Tuesday. Saturday morning I got a text message from Calvin insisting that I come in and get my mustache squared away even though his shop is closed only on the weekends. CALVIN, you are the man. Go here! ____________________ I've been coming here since the summer after the prices and lines at Q's finally deterred me, I couldn't just walk into Big Derrick's, and Primo was too far in Keizer. Calvin is a genuine guy who is pays attention to the details and lets you know that he wants you to leave with the cut you want. It's currently only him in the shop, so you might want to call ahead to check if he can get you in. It honestly has never been crowded (maybe one or two guys waiting but nothing compared to the bigger shops) but I always call Saturday morning just in case. I have yet to not get in same day. He seems to pencil people in by half hour. Note that his place is on a one way street. There's parking either on the cross street immediately before the shop or directly in front of it. The place has a chill vibe with music or TV going and magazines lying around if you need to flip through something. Oh, and for reference, I'm a Chinese-American guy with straight hair. I've been going with a bald taper fading up into a few inches on top and he does clean work - again, pays attention to the details!

For twenty years Wayne Sr. has cut my hair, but he is now in his late 80s and his remaining working life is indeterminate. Wayne Jr. has started cutting my hair and gave me an excellent cut for $16. The third barber, Walt Yoder, is not known to me. Local parking is metered, 25 cents giving you 10 minutes, or you can use the automated ticket stations on State St.
