Best school around. High standards with high success. Extraordinary teachers and staff. Caring "family like" environment. Top notch school.

This was an absolutely beautiful establishment, almost too good to be true. When my team and I…read morewalked in we thought that it was a Rec Center because the gyms were so beautiful and so sleek and shiny. There was this amazing track held around the top of the gym, so if I wanted to I could have done a few convenient laps. The track team was practicing up there and I just thought about how absolutely amazing that was because It was cold outside, so their track team better be pretty great this year. We're rooting for you Greeley west track team!!! When I was sitting on the gyms bleachers as I watched my school take the last winning shot and won, I just realised how nice and roomy the gyms were and how the blue color they used was absolutely extravagant. They couldn't have gone with any other color. OHHH BUT THE BATHROOMS!!!!! They were extraordinarily gorgeous. We walked into the bathroom to be greeted by fountains of water coming from all directions, and crystal clear mirrors, which we got an amazing mirror pic in! When I sat on that toilet I felt like I was going into another world it was such a great experience. I personally don't think any other school is gonna beat how nice this school building was!! Peace and love!! Thanks for having us!! -Anonymous

As a former student at Greeley West High School I can say that this school is definitely a horrible…read moreschool. I was a transfer student from a different district. Comparing GWHS to the school I transferred from and to the school I go to now which is in the same district, GWHS just fails at everything! The students either ditch class, vape in class, not pay attention to the teacher or just just sleep in the classroom. The male bathroom was just a vape party people going into stalls and vaping then coming out and handing one to there friend and vape. Most of the teachers just didn't care or gave up. An example I had is when a math teacher left because so many students didn't bother to learn, it was so sad seeing a handful a students paying attention. I had the worst time there. I am thankful that I go to a better school, where teachers put in the effort to teach. I would highly recommend that you do not enroll your kid in this school.

All of our children graduated high school in Greeley. We decided to get them into the schools which…read moremight best develop their established talents and personal interests. At the time, Central was an "arts magnet" school. That was superb. We visited various high schools to learn about their specialties. We spoke with members of the administration and the arts staff. The principal was inspiring and encouraging. The arts instructors were informative, competent, and likewise encouraging. We decided on Central, and are completely satisfied with the results. We made the right decision. It was a pleasure to attend the stage and musical performances during our time there. Sadly, we were told that Central let its arts magnet program. If so, it wasn't for long, as the arts magnet program is today in full force. Unfortunately, the student culture was not very good. (I grade on the bell curve. Not every school deserves an A+.) I do not know the current state of affairs, but when we were customers, we found that lectures on "bullying" had little if any effect, and judging from off-campus behavior, civics lessons made little impact. It is pretty amazing to see cars stop at intersections as Central's representatives parade obliviously by, against traffic lights!, snobbishly scowling at drivers they forced to stop. Traffic flow would be smoother if Greeley Central was a closed campus. When the students are more civilized, maybe in their fifth or sixth year of high school, then it might be okay for the administration to reconsider its policy for those presumably better civilized students. But by the time you read this, perhaps those school cultural issues have all been solved.

My child tells me she flirts with them, asks questions about their love lives, is distracting them in class, pulling them out during class telling other teachers "its for an essay" but in reality its just because she wants to talk to them but cant while other teachers are trying to teach. So she takes them. She belittles the student teacher in the room, she passes kids based on how much she likes them, cheats on tests and assignments, does the work FOR THEM so they arent learning. And is trying to force other teachers to make her students pass their class by saying "english learners shouldnt get late points, or points of a test for talking while others test" and a bunch of other things that CAN ONLY BE APPLIED through IEP. They cannot LEGALLY have those without the proper IEP stuff. My child has told me Jenna is so rude and disrespectful to other teachers that its almost impossible to learn in ANY class with her in it. My child and their friends have ALL told me on several occasions "Jenna Alexander thinks she is this super cool really good teacher who knows all but in reality all she does is treat her coworkers like shit, she is really rude and disrespectful towards a student teacher who is trying to learn to become a teacher (which if i dealt eith Jenna i would NEVER step foot into Central AGAIN) she disrupts class, flirts with students, gets jealous if they talk about girls, belittles the S.T. and she acts more like a child than a teacher" so Central DO SOMETHING ABOUT HER. Otherwise we can gladly start piling stuff up to take to the District 6 people. She NEEDS to be fired and reprimanded for the way she acts with these students. Especially ones who dont fully understand english, the tone, and jokes so they all think she is serious

Union Colony Charter School

That said, I would not recommend this school to parents, and my own parents deeply regret keeping me enrolled the entire time. The elementary school experience was poor when I attended. I've heard it has improved in recent years, which I think unfortunately gives parents a false sense of security about how the middle and high school operate. The problems become far more serious as students get older. Opportunities for students are extremely limited. Clubs are scarce, sports options are weak (many students had to play for other schools), and the band program was recently eliminated. For a school that markets itself as well-rounded and college-prep, this is concerning. Although the school was originally founded around offering AIMS classes, that advantage no longer sets it apart--most schools now offer them. Despite branding itself as a college-prep school, it did not meaningfully prepare students for college. There was no guidance on degree paths, transferable credits, general education requirements, or college resources. During my senior year, I wanted to take an AIMS class aligned with my intended degree but was blocked due to a required advisory period that had little educational value. I graduated with random AIMS credits that have not helped my degree at all. Graduation requirements also changed frequently, creating confusion and unnecessary stress. Middle school involved typical issues like bullying and social conflict, but the school consistently failed to handle serious situations appropriately. A close friend of mine was sexually assaulted by another student in 8th grade, and the school took no action due to "lack of proof." There was a clear pattern of sweeping serious issues under the rug. The middle school today appears significantly worse. Teachers openly describe these as the most difficult students they've ever taught. While COVID and generational factors likely play a role, the school is unequipped to manage student behavior. Teachers lack resources, support, and authority. In contrast, my brother attends a nearby public school where students are typical preteens--immature but manageable--highlighting how poorly this school handles similar challenges. The school also has a troubling pattern of pushing out students they don't want. I knew students who were pressured to transfer over minor behavioral issues or suddenly told they were missing credits years after completing required coursework. Students who struggle are not given proper support; instead, they leave. This artificially inflates test scores and creates the illusion of success. Students with disabilities were routinely underserved. Accommodations were ignored, and staff appeared inadequately trained. A highly effective Spanish teacher was replaced by one known for ignoring 504 plans, resulting in students with learning disabilities failing due to inappropriate assessments. Administrative culture is another concern. While I personally like the principal and respected her as a teacher, many issues appear to stem from the broader administration and school board. I worked as an office aide for a year and regularly overheard confidential student information being discussed openly, including mental health issues and family problems. I also witnessed inappropriate and racist remarks made by office staff. The senior capstone English course--required for graduation--was taught by a teacher without a background in English instruction. Expectations were unclear, instruction was minimal, and a single paper and presentation determined whether a student graduated after 12 years. This system is deeply flawed. Additionally, the teacher made racially insensitive remarks and mocked a disabled student, behavior that was tolerated until her retirement. Teacher turnover is extremely high, especially in the middle school. None of my middle school teachers remain after six years. During my time, there were multiple serious staff incidents, including physical misconduct. With graduating classes of only 30-60 students, many students struggled socially and academically. I tested into the gifted program in elementary school, yet there was no actual gifted education. Instead, I was asked to teach other students rather than being given enrichment or advanced instruction. While small class sizes can allow for close relationships with teachers--and I value the mentors I gained--this does not outweigh the systemic failures. No one I know who graduated recently views this school positively, and no one who transferred out regrets leaving. My brother's experience at a public school highlights how much support and structure I lacked despite this school being marketed as the "better" option. I have so much more to say but the character limit is limiting my review
