Had a wonderful few hours here with my Toddler. I wish kids could get closer then outside fence to some animals but I imagine it may be safety issue? They can feed goats, sheep, bighorn sheep, alpacas through fence. Chickens are turkeys are running around free and it's set up great that you can roam and not feel like your on top of other guests. They have a sandbox type silo, a bunch of toy trucks to play with, some climbing and swinging items and a small play house (we did not go in because a bunch of kids were playing). I would say go early bring a lunch and sit out and play and let kids explore. It's a little pricy $15 for anyone over 12 months so a family of 4 is $60 but I'm sure it helps the farm keep well maintained. I would go back and recommend to anyone with small kids. read more

My 5 year old had a blast feeding the animals, using the zipline, unique swings, treehouses, exploring, even riding a horse which she has been terrified to do until now. If I lived in Longmont, Colorado, I would be dropping off my kids here. This really is how every child should spend their day. At Sunflower Farm they value self-directed learning and kids here get to spend the day doing what they want to. We were able to toast marshmallows over the bonfire, feed sheep, and tour the farm. This place is as magical as it can get. A true farm wonderland of the perfect mix of animals and plant life and playscapes for your kids. I've attended during their normal business hours and also my son has been attending their sprouthouse preschool. I know he is loving it because every time I come pick him up he tells me "no way, I'm not leaving!" What an honor it is that this amazing family opens their home to others so that kids like my little city kid can experience such an amazing little piece of idyllic farm life. Every little activity is so well thought out and the age range is truly perfect from toddler to older kids. The corn house is the best sensory activity I've ever seen (better then anything at the children's museum or any other kids play area) and all of the real life tractors and plane to climb on are my toddlers favorite activity! We will be back for many years. Anyone commenting on the price should take some time to consider how much money must go into making a working farm a safe and fun place for families to come back and enjoy. Spent $60 for group of two adults and two kids for some Holiday Farmfest "bundle up and explore our farm, under our Holiday Light Display, while you enjoy hot chocolate and marshmallows by our bonfire!" I mistakenly figured that the watered down hot chocolate and marshmallows would be comped for $15/person. The place was was just a bunch of goats and llamas, some basic Christmas lights strewn around, and a few families sitting around a fire. Then pile into the family truckster and head to Sunflower Farm outside of Longmont. This is a totally non-commercial place for your kids to experience the country and fresh air. There are all the typical farm animals you'd expect with pony rides included in admission, great tree houses, a zip line that even my not quite three yr. old could manage, a HUUUGE sand box filled with dump trucks, real tractors and earth mover to sit on, and hammocks to swing in while you watch you kids explore and laugh. We went on a Sat. but I underrstand that on Sundays in the fall they have even more stuff, including hayrides, pumpkins, etc. Am I gushing? I feel like my review will be something of a hybrid between the happy reviews and the lone angry review. So I guess just read mine and you'll be good? Ok, maybe not. Our boys (all under age 10) LOVED this place and we'll definitely be back. On the way in you have to confirm that you have a waiver on file, as all of the activities are "unconventional" (their words not ours, although we found the description very funny). Various farm animals, endless handfuls of corn to feed the grateful goats, a huge bonfire pit with endless wood to entertain pyro-friendly kids and roast smores, a zipline that probably kept my kids occupied 90% of our time there... the list goes on. It really is great. That said, it really is a decent chunk of change - $10 per person, and they charge for kids older than 1 year old. I believe. Check their policies, but I know we had to pay for our 15-month-old (!!). So, this won't be a weekly activity. Maybe yearly. Still can't believe they charged for our infant. I cannot say enough positive things about this place! I was very surprised that there was a previous negative review. I implore you to check out Sunflower Farm if you have kids 2-8 years old. I know they will love it. I don't know where to start, there are so many cool things here. A friendly family cat and dog wander around the farm, stopping by to say hi to kids and adults. There are fenced lamas, goats, pigs, ponies, horses, chickens, rams and ducks. Buckets of corn are all over the place, and kids are encouraged to feed and pet the animals. (Pony rides are included with the $6 admission.) Peacocks and turkeys wander freely around the property as well. The landscaping is just beautiful. Paths meander all over the place, each one leading to a new, exciting discovery. There is a series of tree houses- full of slides, ladders and bridges. All sorts of swings, hammocks, benches, hanging benches and tire swings are strewn throughout the property- perfect for kids or adults who need to take a rest. There's a huge cement driveway full of tricycles, helmets, bicycles and other cool kid-vehicles. Basketballs and a kid-size basketball hoop. There are adult bikes, as well as a two-person bicycle you can grab to tour around the property. There is a large campfire circle, and (with adult supervision) kids are allowed to add logs to the fire, or sit on the multitude of stumps around the fire and tell stories. Lots of picnic benches and tables. Lots of water pumps with soap to keep kids' hands clean, plus plenty of hand sanitizer bottles throughout. There are sandboxes all over the place- one of them is inside an old silo. It was a dream for my 3 year-old nanny kids. There were tons of sandbox toys to play with- bulldozers, shovels, buckets, vehicles. And little houses and shacks and hidey-holes to play in. There are some porta-potties throughout, and a functioning restroom in the arts & crafts shack. There are tons of hay bales set up for kids to climb on/under/over/around. An arts & crafts shack full of supplies (string, yarn, chalk, dress up clothes, paper, crayons, glue, sparkles, etc). A duck pond. A very cool zip-line (although my 3 year-olds were not quite ready to give it a try- maybe for the older bunch). Lots of inoperable farm equipment that kids can climb on. A big area full of blocks where kids can build. This farm is surrounded by beautiful mountains and plains. It is absolutely a wonderful way to spend the day. I recommend packing a picnic and planning on staying for a few hours. Depending on the age of the kids, adults are welcome to stay alongside and play with them, or just chill out in a hammock and let the kids run free for a while. Paradise for kids! Every time we go to Sunflower Farm my kids can't stop saying "I love this place!" or "This is my favorite day ever!" because it is just that much fun here. You definitely need to check the website for opening times before going because the hours are somewhat limited. I believe that they are open every Sunday now until the end of October 2014, including weekday mornings from 9am - 1pm. We went to visit this past Sunday when there was the option to pick apples ($5 for a sizeable paper bag) and sunflowers. They also have school options and camps, which are just a huge amount of fun. This place is amazing! only open weekdays in May as of now - 9am-1pm. was $7 per person (anyone over 12 months) - and worth every dime. Took our 2year old boy and he was in paradise. Not only is it a great farm with regards to goats, sheep, cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, oh my... but it is about the old tractors to sit on and pull levers, push buttons, all the toy trucks and tractors all around the property, the swings, the hay maze, the corn barns... Recommend bringing your own hand sanitizer since there were not as many around as hoped. also recommend bringing snacks and picnic lunch - since no food is available to purchase on property. read more

Probably one of my favorite spaces in Colorado to be with my children. It is a family run farm, run by really great people. Our favorite activities evolve as my kids (now 6 and 3 yo) get older. Yesterday it was the tree house, zipline and walking and balancing on the tight rope and planks. The price of admission is fair for everything that you have access to and the amount of time you can spend there. Bring snacks if you want. There are usually some food items for purchase depending on the seasons; popsicles, marshmallows, waters, etc. Try to come at different times of year to see how the farm changes. You can welcome new babies in the spring, pick apples and pears on the trees in the late summer/fall, play in the snow and roast mallows in the fire pit in winter. As others have noted, it's a magical place that will keep your 3-8 year old happily busy for the whole morning. We would love to visit more often, but for now, we reserve it as a special annual trip. This is due to the steep price and required full admission for anyone over the age of 12 months. Today was our second visit to SF, the first being in May 2015. There have been some changes since then, first in the way you gain admission. It's all done online now and you buy tickets prior to your visit. I'm writing this review primarily to dispel the notion that it is too expensive. As a mom of two, I've shelled out money for Monkey Bizness, Midair Adventures, Boondocks, etc and this is the best money I have spent on them in a long time! It was $13 per person today, but we arrived at 9 and left at 1- for $3+ an hour, you cannot beat this! It is guilt-free kid paradise. Nobody will beg for snacks, souvenirs, or games because there's nothing for sale! Beautiful! They will run and play and laugh for hours nonstop. They will tell you repeatedly that this is THE BEST PLACE EVER. My kids are 3 and 6 and they just couldn't get enough. There are beautiful twin calves walking around with peacocks, chickens, cats, and a new farm puppy named Luna. Kids can feed animals all day if they choose, or play in sand, or play in corn, or climb into treehouses, or swing in swings from THE COOLEST trees ever, or climb on retired farm equipment and an airplane...There's just so much to do. $13 (or $15 on the weekend) is TOTALLY REASONABLE. Take your kids there- soon- You will make some really incredible memories- totally more than you'll ever get at Monkey Bizness and the like. These people are awesome- really friendly and really good to the people who visit their farm. Thank you, Sunflower Farm! We're already planning another trip! OH- and regarding the prepay process and higher fees- You will be grateful for that process and those fees when you are there. On our first visit last year, there were SO many kids that there were long lines for everything. Now with the online booking, they can restrict the number of visitors to a really manageable level. I'm assuming they have to cap it at a certain number. Not sure what that number is, but my kids didn't wait more than 2 or 3 minutes for ziplining, and there were no waits for anything else- not even the bathroom. It was IDEAL. I have two words to accurately describe this place. Rip Off. They charged $8 per person to get in which isn't bad except that they charged that even for my 1 year old who rolled around in a stroller. So $32 for me, my husband a 3 year old and a 1 year old. They do have goats and sheep to feed. My son did ride a pony which they walk about 5 yards and turn around. The sand pit was just a bunch of sand on the ground with shovels. No buckets or diggers or anything else in it when we were there. The tree house thing was kind of cool but hardly worth the money. Certainly nothing more exciting than what you find at a local park. They also have some hay bales set up that kids and run on. We were there about an hour and saw and did everything. We went last fall on a Saturday. We brought our 6 and 10 yr old boys and they had a blast. They loved the zip line and the hay bales to run around on. My sons did enjoy climbing all over the tree house. I understand how someone with young children would not see this place as great. But for a family with School age children this is a great place to experience the country. We live in a townhouse so for the boys to run in the country and see the animals and climb was fantastic. Our son's preschool had a field trip to Sunflower Farm. We had looked forward to this field trip and were excited to go. We heard in advance how we had to make sure we had the money in advance and it was stressed multiple times to be sure we paid as soon as we arrived, which of course is what we planned to do anyway. The owner was extremely rude to our group as well as not very understanding to the fact that the owner of our preschool was late due to a family emergency. The owner didn't exhibit a sense of professionalism when dealing with the adults, and her customer service skills were lacking. We didn't appreciate the fact that she simply was not kind and considerate. I didn't feel as if she knew how to relate to young children, nor was she very personable with the adults. Waste of money and will definitely not be returning. We are so disappointed in our visit. read more

I've been a big fan of Sunflower Farm since our first visit, almost 2 years ago. The admission price seems reasonable to me, considering that they welcome picnic lunches and have lots of tables for guests. This place is a unique experience, where kids can explore with freedom instead of being guided through and told what to do at every stage. I recommend going early so you can get your fill of the fresh air and peaceful atmosphere (they close at 3pm). A perfect spot for birthday parties.
