A Warning for Parents of Neurodivergent or ESL Children My experience here was traumatic. If I could give zero stars, I would. We attended before my son's autism diagnosis, and he was treated with a shocking lack of empathy. The owner actually called me to claim my son had a 'medical tic'--which was actually just a self-soothing raspberry-blowing behavior he only did when he was extremely stressed by their environment. I witnessed systemic neglect: children who spoke English as a second language were left to sit alone without interaction, and toddlers were left to sob inconsolably after drop-off with no comfort from staff. I actually had to step in and hug a crying child myself because the teachers wouldn't. Most concerning was the lack of respect for parental boundaries and age-appropriate care. When my 3-year-old was nervous about potty training, I requested he wear a pull-up for one day to build his confidence. Instead, the staff spent 30 minutes of his school day forcing him back into underwear against my explicit instructions. Unless your child is neurotypical and requires no emotional support, stay away. This is not a safe or inclusive environment. read more

My daughter and son both attended Wildflower Preschool. They both had wonderful teachers. My son requires a little extra attention and the teachers always accommodate him with ample patience and love. I feel so lucky! I love the balance of outdoor time, art, music, social emotional learning, and gentle exploration of academic learning. We have loved our time at Wildflower, our 3 year old starting in Fall 2023. all our teachers have been amazing and bring different strengths to the classroom. They are attentive and communicative and are able to handle different temperaments with conpassion. When our son had struggled with drop offs at other schools, the teachers at Wildflower listened to our concerns and helped create a plan moving forward so our son felt safe and we as parents felt heard. We also love Ms Amy, the director of the school. she has been communicative, approachable and active in the classrooms. My son loves her as well. I've found they are organized with school events and really make it feel like a community. Lastly, we appreciate the cozy vibes of the classroom and they have a lot of outdior space to play and explore. they frequently take the kiddos on field trips, which our son loves! read more

Wildflower is a family-run preschool with heart and soul. They put teaching the whole child first. The highest compliment Wildflower can get comes from our child. While discussing if it was a stay-at-home day (Sat/Sun) or school day, our child said, "I love stay-at-home days AND school days." At our previous daycare/school, it was sometimes a negotiation to get him out the door. Now, he's always interested to check the posted activity schedule, dive into intentionally planned centers, or join the curriculum-based field trip. Wildflower has enriched his life and our lives. Wildflower Preschool has been a happy and inviting place for my children. We have been at Wildflower since 2021 when my daughter was in preschool. We have continued there with my son who is now 3.5 years. Wildflower provides a warm, small, nurturing community. The teachers and school director Amy really care for the well being of your child. My kids have learned so much from Wildflower and have even been given opportunities to go off-site to places such as the zoo, the recycling center, and the local children's museum. Further, the school has the cutest garden where the children get to plant and pick vegetables to try. Wildflower provides a full preschool curriculum that provides creative expression, plenty of outdoor time, and opportunities for students to problem solve. I truly can't say enough good things about the school and am sad that next year will be our last year there. read more

Our 3 yr old boy has been attending Wildflower since January and has been thriving! He receives so much love each day and the faculty is so communicative (over their app) about the activities that take place during the day - he gets to work in a garden, lots of outdoor play, and lessons around building confidence and independence. Our 5.5 year old son attended Wildflower for 3+ years and it has been a wonderful experience. We were at a different preschool prior to Wildflower and it felt about cold and corporate and the teachers were completely disengaged. During our time at Wildflower the teachers have been so loving and kind to our son. He can be a bit challenging and had his fair share of temper tantrums, hitting, etc. The school was patient and open to suggestions or practices they could implement that they knew we were using at home. He really seemed to thrive there and we're so grateful to have found Wildflower. Also, the school Director, Amy Harman, has been very communicative and you can tell she absolutely loves the kiddos. Throughout the peak of COVID, Amy did an amazing job keeping up with the BVSD policies, sharing helpful information with the parents, and managing many differing opinions of how school should be managed at that time. There was a bit of turnover (which was the case throughout the entire country) and Amy managed it well and has hired many amazing teachers since then. Our son is now in Kindergarten but now his little sister (age 3) is there and she loves it! There's tons of outdoor play which we love. They even have a garden where the kids can help pick veggies and learn about them. We highly recommend Wildflower! read more

Our daughter has been going here for pre K for nearly 4 months now, and so far we love it! The kids spend a ton of time outside playing, gardening, looking for bugs, etc. The teachers are all incredibly friendly and warm with the kids, our daughter absolutely LOVES her teachers. There does not seem to be a high rate of turnover with the staff either, which is something we struggled with at previous daycare centers. I really appreciate the high level of communication between the staff and parents as well. Our daughter is in a phase right now where she's showing some pretty challenging behavior, and the teachers and director have worked closely with us on how to improve/prevent this behavior so that we are using the same language with her in school and at home, and being consistent in how we address the behavior. Her behavior and attitude seem to be improving with this approach, and every day she is excited to go into school! I would recommend this preschool if you're looking for a cheerful environment with tons of sensory play, outside play, and a caring staff who will really take the time to get to know your individual child's needs. read more

This is a second location which actually shares space with the New Church of Boulder Valley, but are NOT affiliated with the church. Our daughter is currently attending Pre-K at this location and we could not be happier. She attended preschool at another school from January-May and it was a complete disaster. The entire staff at this location and the owner/headmistress, Amy, have been simply amazing. I just can not say enough great things about them. For example, we went to pick our daughter up the other day and they were playing outside. My daughter was a little sad to leave and wanted to keep eating the pears off of the tree in the play area. Recognizing this, one of the teachers (unprompted) suggested that they have a picnic lunch the next day when she returned. My daughter was so excited, that it changed her entire demeanor and gave her something to look forward to. They actually followed through with it the next day. It is that type of mindfulness (and many other examples) that gives us peace of mind and reinforces that we made the right decision. The preschool and pre k rooms are set up in a very fun and open manner. There are many stations from the children to choose from, including sensory tables, dress up, blocks, train tracks, etc. They have a great system in pre-k where they have each of the children's pictures on a card. Each station has a limited number of children allowed at any given time. So if, say the block station has four children already (four cards with their pictures on them on the list of activities on the wall) then the child understands that they must choose a different activity until a space opens up. It really gives the children ownership of their activities. Every day that we have picked our daughter up she has said she loves it. (Although she is typically exhausted by the time she leaves) They do allow children to take naps if they need it, and will respect your wishes if you choose not to have them nap. We leave it up to how our daughter is feeling since she does not typically take a nap at home. Although she has already taken a couple naps at school already. They really encourage crafting and artistic time. Today when I picked my daughter up I found out they were learning about how different marker's ink diffuses in water. (Very cool) They are not overly strict or structured to the point our daughter has a hard time transitioning from activity to activity. Although they do have a schedule that they use throughout the day to ensure the children are learning and busy throughout the day. In her last school, my daughter was on such a rigid schedule that she would melt down because she couldn't handle it. If your child is having a hard time, they have a quiet space within the room for them to get away for a bit and calm themselves down. Anyway, this school and all of the teachers we have met have been simply amazing. You will not regret having your child attend Wildflower. read more

This is our experience, shared because I am very concerned about the level of care offered at Wildflower. Our son attended and we all loved it for some time. The teachers were fabulous. However, over time the director displayed increasingly concerning behaviors: poor communication, lack of ability to accurately explain or uphold policies, "accidentally" sending confidential emails regarding our child to other parents, and unstable, reactive behavior. Our son was being repeatedly hurt by another child to the point of being afraid to go to school, and even after having discussions with teachers and the director about how to deal with it, the director then (in writing) blatantly denied that our son had ever been hurt. (?!) The next day the same child kicked our son in the head right in front of two teachers. In discussing these problems, the director became increasingly defensive and reactive, accusing us of a number of behaviors that in fact she was exhibiting (we documented in writing and recorded the meetings in which she accused us of certain behaviors for exactly this reason). Our son was not physically safe there, we were not treated with respect, and my concern for the unstable and irrational behavior of the director goes far beyond his/our experience. We filed a complaint with state licensing, but that only covers business practices, and the director was able to cover some tracks of her irrational actions against us to look like she was not in violation of policy-related practices. More importably than the question of licensing violations, as an educator myself, I have never in 25 years encountered this level of unstable, toxic behavior in educational settings, and I am highly concerned that someone responsible for the well-being of small children would act and run things this way, (and even worse, apparently feel justified in her behavior). The director has tried to turn it around on us, accusing us of a number of behaviors, suggesting that we are "emotional parents", and accusing me of "threatening to harm their reputation" by sharing my experience. However, since we have every interaction and exchange documented either in writing or in recordings of meetings, it is crystal clear that we were not the ones acting in reactive, incoherent, and disrespectful ways. Sadly, as I've talked to more parents at the school (some of whom have also left and some of whom are looking for a new school ASAP) as well as other local early childhood educators familiar with the program and director, I'm hearing that our experience is not the only one. It has been a sad transition because we and our son loved it for some time, but I could never recommend that anyone trust that program with their child's safety and well-being. read more
