By simply walking through the doors at TAB you can tell that everyone in the building feels loved and taken care of- from the admin to the staff and most importantly, the kids. The staff get along with each other great and are always helping each other out when needed. The place is clean. Everything is cleaned every night. Each child is treated differently, but in a good way. If your child needs a little more help getting accommodated to the new environment or help potty training, a special diet, or difficult allergies, etc.. it doesn't matter. The staff love every child the same and will bend over backwards and do whatever they can to help each one succeed. My sons went to take a break since they were 8 weeks old up until they started school. Unfortunately, throughout the time there was problems with the teachers and their communication about injuries and other things that occurred, they were very discriminative about situations and didn't communicate very well. But once COVID happened, and I was an essential worker. I wasn't able to go inside the building to check them in or out and so I assumed they were checking in and out of ccap each day and no one made a mention while i signed them in and out on a paper daily so than they had said i owed back pay and they sued me for the balance when it eas never even communicated i owed a balance and ccap wasn't being paid this daycare does not care about the children they service only the money they get paid highly dissatisfied and dont even get me started on the blond woman in the redwoods room that's a whole other situation i would not recommendthem to anyone this review is coming from someone who attended this day care as a child and is the daughter of a manager of this facility read more

I have two children who have been at take a break for nearly 5 years now and I can't say enough good things about this wonderful establishment. From the front desk to the teachers to the support staff and cook, my children have felt so LOVED and cared for the entire time they've been here. We have never had a bad experience, in fact, quite the opposite. -Take A Break was the only center willing to work with a first responder schedule, recognizing that we didn't need full time care, and sometimes schedules change at the last minute. They bent over backwards to make things work for us and the office staff were always so kind and gracious, even when I had to call the morning-of! Even with a rotating schedule, childcare has been reasonably affordable with the most minimal increases over the past 5 years (nothing like what I've seen at other centers). -My youngest had major separation anxiety for a year or so. It was hard on her and hard on me too! Ms. Lori at the front desk was an absolute GIFT. She would greet her with one of her many cute pet names and would welcome her into the office to snuggle and ease the transition. I truly don't know how we would have gotten through this challenging period without her. My daughter absolutely lights up when she sees her and we try to plan her drop off time around Ms. Lori's bus runs because no matter what's going on with our morning, everything is okay when we see Ms. Lori! -My kids have had fantastic teachers in all of their classes. Both of my kids went through Ms. Bertha's class and much like the rest of the staff, she made both of my kids feel known and loved for who they are. She encouraged them, comforted them, guided them, and did everything I would hope someone would do for them when I couldn't be there myself. My son is in first grade now and we can't pick up his little sister without him coming inside to give Ms. Bertha a hug-- it's a non-negotiable. I met someone whose child was in Ms. Bertha's class ~20 years ago and they raved about her too. Ms. Bertha leaves an impact on every child in her class. -My daughter has Ms. Sara now and took to her immediately. She has gotten to know her so well in just a few short months. Again, the level of communication is top notch. There was an incident in her class and she and D'Arla let me know immediately, gave me all the information they could without compromising the other child's privacy, and remained available in case we had any follow up questions. -The classes sometimes have subs-- I get it! People get sick! And I have been blown away by the effort they all put in to get to know the kids, even if they're just in their class for a few hours! -Teachers and staff are super communicative. They'll reach out through the app or by phone just to let me know if one of my kids is having an off day, or to send pics of all the fun they're having. Beyond the classroom experiences, Take A Break staff goes above and beyond to support their families. They offer parenting classes, parent teacher conferences, and give US a Christmas gift of free care one day so we can shop for our kids! They truly nurture the WHOLE family. I've run into Ms. Lori at the grocery store at 6am shopping for valentines out of her own pocket-- just in case any kids forget to bring their own. She truly puts her whole heart into this job and these kids. I would love to be home every day with my kiddos, but since I cant, I am so thankful to have found the next best thing: Take a Break. I don't think I'll ever be able to adequately articulate how grateful I am for how well they have loved and cared for my kids. Wow, there have been a lot of great reviews, you have to wonder how there can be so many top rating reiews and then see the worst review ever, Hmmm??? I've had nothing but amazing things to say about this place. My son and daughter have been here since they were 3yrs old and an infant. You will find warm and genuine quality care from each staff person. I love how they interact with every child. They communicate to the parents about how child is doing, send pics and notes about their day. The place has security cameras everywhere. I have always felt my kids were in safe hands. The Director with 40+ years really knows childhood behavior. They are #1 Child Care center in Boulder County. They even offer parent class for free. I would recommend this center to anyone. Take a Break is a wonderful center! I recommend anyone looking for child care to prepare there child to come here! They have so many wonderful staff in every room that takes care of all the children! They make sure every child is getting their needs met! The office staff are always helpful and make themselves available for anyone who needs, and to talk about whatever needs they need. Mother of 3 boy's . Ranging highschool to toddler ages. Take a break is ABSOLUTELY THE WORST childcare provider I have ever taken my boy's! First, the STAFF and OWNERS lack professionalism and organization. Laurie alway's appeared to be under the influence of pills or something with her eyes glazed over often trying to comprehend what you are saying. She would just stare at the wall or computer. The girls that work there are extremely young and do not know how to appropriately discipline kids. I've smelled marijuana on a few employees. Heard them telling kids they are "bad" direcrly among other inappropriate comments. The owner acts as if she knows how to run a business, but she is very confrontational and has been caught in multiple lies. She intentionally overstaffs her classrooms with kids. When my kid would come home with incident reports of kids hurting him. The answer would be "we didn't see" or "both of the kids were at fault" this was not my child's character. When I would ask my child he would tell me a completely different story. My child has absolutely no reason to lie as most kids do not at a very young age. BY OVER STAFFING THE KIDS, THERE WAS AN ILLNESS WEEKLY. I MEAN MASSIVE OUTBREAK, WEEKLY! SHE WOULD COLLECT HER PAYMENT & HAS NO ISSUE PRETENDING TO FEEL BAD ABOUT SENDING BULKS OF CHILDREN HOME FOR AN AUTOMATIC 2 DAYS OR MORE, IN THE CONTRACT IT STATES, SHE GETS PAID WEATHER OR NOT THE CHILD ATTENDS. THIS WILL LEAVE YOU DOUBLE PAYING FOR CHILDCARE. The staff would tell me often that they can't assist with potty training effectively as they are not fully staffed. On the message thread though procare Darla would often choose to argue with you after being asked to have a conversation with her privately and not on a thread with all employees. I was told multiple times my child was on the potty training list and his teachers would confirm he was not. Darla would delete messages from her employees on procare when it made her look bad. This is by far the most untrusting and unprofessional childcare establishment. PLEASE STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT! ***On the flip side, if you aren't an active parent, need something super close to your home, newly divorced dad looking for attention from young girls or simply aim to do the bare minimum.... then this is your place. :) Just one more thing.... I know it was meant to be that my now 4yo daughter was accepted into take a break daycare. She been going there since she was 18 months old. They have been exactly what she and I both needed in a daycare provider and now preschool. My relationship with the staff is very specific to the child, she not just a number. She is thriving and because I have no worries about her throughout the day, I have been able to grow myself in the areas I need and accomplish the things I need day to day as a single mom who moved here to escape a dv situation and who didn't have any connections or resources upon moving here with absolutely nothing in 2020. My daughter actually struggle with ptsd from trauma was thriving at home with me but very awkward in suicidal situations or around people in general. She didn't say a word the first 6 months of attendance although she was really confidante and loved going there each day, but bc of the violence she had witnessed prior with her father to myself. But you should see her now: she is a bubbly, exuberant, extroverted, friendly, confident fire ball yet sweet as can be. I credit TAB a lot with her knowing how to speak up for herself and resolve conflict with others, all the qualities I try and teach her at home and that are not only taught there but modeled by staff and thus other students as well. They are exemplary in every area, in confidentiality, in cleanliness, in communicating to parents and including parents in goings ons, in behaviors and what your child is learning, exceeding the standards of the state, and also in working with the skills that your individual child needs improved upon, all the while making them feel discussion and rewarding good behaviors with praise. They are personable but highly professional, really delving into what each individual child needs and really helping them fine tune any areas needing work, and with other children in the school. They are fair, non judgmental, ahead of the curve, very knowledgeable, professional, kind and show up each day present for the kids, making a difference in your child's life. You can tell it's more than a job for them, it's a passion and a love. I honestly can't rave or write enough about take a break school curriculum, classes, staff, student ratio and interactions, their great location, safety protocols, resources and help in and out of school, field trips, helpfulness, professionalism, the prompt attention and resolution of any concerns or response needed, involvement/ communication between parents and staff...etc. A+++++. Our 13-month old son attended Take-A-Break for a week as a trial. He loved it so much, we're enrolling him full time. So far, we love: - getting photos, updates, and teacher communications via the app - he's napping SO much better here than at his previous daycare (sleeping baby = happy/healthy baby = happy parents) - he's really comfortable with his teachers and fellow classmates already - lunch is provided (we pack his lunch, but I like having the option to switch him over in the future) - the kids, parents, and administrators are so friendly and happy (D'Arla even texted me pictures of our guy and checked in in him his first few days!) - it's VERY safe: I love the checkin/checkout policies and procedures (they are SUPER intuitive and safe) - the hours are flexible: as a dual working-parent household, we love that the center is open for ~11 hours/day. We would never want him to be there for that many hours, but we LOVE the flexibility the hours provide. AND they don't shame parents, no matter what times you pickup/drop off (our experience at our previous daycare) - bonus: they take credit cards (yay, points) and you can set it up to pay tuition automatically (as parents, we have so much on our minds already)! My son is almost 17 months and has been going to Take-A-Break since he was 3 months old. As any new mother, I was nervous and skeptical to leave him - anywhere. They're really did a great job assuring me in the beginning and really easy to get in touch with his caretakers if I wanted to call or text to check in on him. They helped me with advice and concerns as he was growing and changing, whether it was with a new bottle or pacifiers, etc. and they were always wonderful. I was emotional when it was time for him to move on to the next room, but as expected, it was easy and seamless. All of his teachers, including the front staff & the owner, are all wonderful. They really care for the kids like you want/expect and it's comforting to know he's always in good hands. I highly recommended. read more

I started doing weekly drop off for my 2 year old son a while ago. Staff seems good and the place is good for the kids but it's the admin I have an issue with. They charge you regardless if your kid is there or not. So if something comes up and you can't drop your child off, or they get sick, or any number of reasons life happens, you get charged. Then when i tried to cancel my weekly contract they said I have to get charged 2 more weeks before they will cancel. It's just a bad way of doing business. It's one of those instances when companies just revert back to "It's our policy" and "It's in your contract" (which I'm supposed to have memorized from 6 months ago). Just a bad way of doing business in my opinion. Staff is nice; Admin is bad. read more

My husband and I looked at TAB in the spring for the upcoming arrival of our son. I got a terrible vibe when in the infant room, the babies essentially have to nap in a closet (?), and they allowed us to walk right in with our shoes on. The tour continued and in another room a baby (maybe a year old) was sticking her finger in a telephone jack on the wall. I get that it's not an electrical outlet but they weren't even being monitored. We have since found daycare elsewhere and are extremely happy. I wanted a daycare for our newborn, and we shopped around, took tours of all the area facilities. The bigger "schools" felt so sterile to me. We wanted a place where our baby would be safe, have fun, be loved, and could be a kid! We chose Take A Break because it was smaller, the employees were so friendly, and it looked like the kids were loved and having fun. We are so happy with our choice! Tomi and the other employees that work in the infant room give my baby so much love and attention, kisses are plenty, and he has become a much more patient and calm baby at home. I am excited for him to graduate to the older rooms too, where I hear they do daily field trips in the summer, have a real outdoor play area to play on (no fake grass here), and get taught things like table manners. Too cute! We feel confident in the care and that our baby is safe. read more

I had my son at TAB recently for temporary care, and had a very bad experience. They were not receptive to my requests that he follow a similar feeding schedule to the one we had him on; they use their "on-demand feeding" policy to cover the fact that they just give them milk whenever they're crying, and as such, they blew through my hard-earned frozen breastmilk stash. The two older women who work in the infant room had the attitude that they knew better than I did about how to take care of my son, and clearly their understanding of feeding was based on older ideas of how much formula babies need (even though he is on breastmilk only). Multiple times I saw them bragging about how much milk they'd fed other tiny little infants, which they clearly did not need. The most unbelievable and upsetting thing that happened though was when they thought I hadn't provided enough milk for him on his last day, and so from 9 am until 4 pm instead of feeding him his bottle of milk, they only fed him 3 oz of water (against APA recommendations) without even calling to ask my permission, and then when I got upset, they acted as if I was in the wrong. Completely rude staff, I could not believe how some of them spoke to me- not only a paying customer, but someone who had entrusted them with their child. I'm happy to say I've found another daycare that is the complete opposite -- respectful of my requests and friendly and supportive to their parents and kids, so I know now this is not how caretakers usually behave.
