An incredible experience! The staff are the nicest people people that I have encountered at a restaurant in, at least, a decade. They welcome you when you arrive and are prompt & courteous throughout the meal. My wife and I ordered the tableside guacamole - an absolute must! We asked them to add mango and it was amazing. I don't drink, but my wife ordered the top shelf margarita. She thought it was excellent. I had the chicken quesadillas and my wife ordered the chicken fajitas. Both portions were sizable and very good. Please note, the rice is traditional & contains peas. This place is always busy. Taco Tuesday packs the bar for $1 tacos. They're crappy but filling and the same ppl are always there. Sometimes you go and it's not for the food. In fact, I'd say don't ever go to Frontera if good Mexican food is what you're hankering for. If, however, you're game for a mix of Tex-Mex and Mexican American w some odd flavors thrown in, this is the place for you. When we arrived the dining room was so smoky from sizzling fajitas that the smoke caught in the back of my throat and I had to go outside for a few minutes. After being stationed in San Antonio Texas, traveling the entire west coast and visiting Mexico... I'm very picky when it comes to Mexican food. It's one of my favorites, but not all Mexican food is created equal. For years since I moved to the Greater Springfield area, I was forced to drive nearly an hour for decent Mexican food. Sadly there is no more taco tuesday. But there is an annoying, obnoxious Mariachi band on Tuesday. There were 7 in our party and we choose Tuesday for taco tuesday and Wednesday was the Mariachi band. Not any more! We couldn't even talk to each other over the band. Then they came to our table and asked for requests... they couldn't take a freaking hint! It was frustrating, our server could barely get by them with our drinks. Food wise it was good. The homemade guacamole had too many mango chunks besides for that it was delicious. My Margarita was fantastic! My request is to pease up date your website so people know when a band will be there. read more

I had a small, understuffed seafood chimi, it was tough, undercock, lacked the sauce mentioned in the menu, the rice was mediocre, the beans weren't bad, but didn't taste freshly made. and the enchilada was just a congealed mess. i wont be back and can't recommend them. read more

We were so disappointed with the food and service at Frontera Grill today. We are snowbirds and this was one of our favorite restaurants in the past. We went for lunch so it was not too crowded. My husband ordered chicken fajitas and I ordered a quesidilla fajita. The food arrived in like 3 minutes but it was barely warm, the chicken was tough and obviously had been sitting for awhile. The salsa was mediocre at best. My husband asked for hot sauce and he finally had to get up and remind the staff (while his barely warm food got cold). Husband then asked for one more fajita wrap and was told he needed to buy four....really?? Is this establishment under new management? We won't be back. read more

i went to Frontera and got shrimp tacos. the shrimp was rock hard. i took two bites and got grossed out. i asked for them to take it back but by the time the waiter had came back i had eaten the rice and beans because i was starving. he asked if i wanted them to remake it but i said no because it had really grossed me out. they came back with the check and it was still on there, so i asked him to take it off. he came back again and it was still there but with a 50% discount. i asked for the manager and he returned with the entree removed but they charged me for the side of the rice and side of beans which was basically equivalent to the price of the entree with 50% off. i had spent plenty of other money, my friend and i each had a large margarita and she had an entree and we split an appetizer. it's not like i had eaten half the meal and sent it back, i took two bites. the manager (not positive it was the manager but that's how it seemed) was standing there staring at my friend and i at the table as we were getting ready to leave even though we had asked to speak with him. my friend left a scrunchie at the table so he followed us out to the car to give it back then proceeded to spit on the ground right after we got into the car. edit: also got food poisoning from the shrimp read more

We pulled into the parking lot last Friday night, it was packed and more people were coming in. We were seated right away,the waitress came over and gave us salsa and chips. This was our first time eating at Frontera Grill. The menu was basically the same as On the Border. So we ordered the queso and two individual chicken fajitas dinner. We started eating the salsa and chips, there was something really off about the salsa and I stopped eating it. The queso came and we both took a big heaping bite , I spit mine out I am really disappointed and we didn't even get our dinners yet. We weren't going to take our chances at a lousy dinner. We paid for my beer and headed to On the Border, it's like night and day. Please don't go to Frontera Grill all the good reviews on this restaurant should be taken with a grain of salt.. the salsa and queso were disgusting...if you want delicious Mexican Food On the Border is the restaurant you'll want to go to! read more

Let me start out by saying I USE to really like this place. So this visit I walked in and the smell of mold slapped me in the face. I told myself, it's humid out maybe that's the problem. We sat down and the table was literally 3 feet away from me. So when I was eating I had to sit on the edge of my seat. The chips were stale and the salsa was like tomato sauce with a few chunks of tomatoes, not good! So we order table side guacamole, it was the smallest serving of guacamole I've ever seen. Now mind you I had to ask for napkins because there were none at the table. We ordered the Korean beef tacos and the fish tempura tacos. Our food arrived room temperature, not hot, which was surprising to be because it seemed like everyone else's plates were sizzling. The food was bland, out of the two the fish tempura tacos were best. Side note... Our food arrived and no silverware, our waiter dropped our food off and left. We had to ask a bus boy for our silverware. Now for the winner of the night was the only reason we came here is because we like the pitchers of sangria...we get it. It didn't taste as good as it use to but it wasn't bad. The pitchers use to be like $18. We get our bill and its $32... So not worth it!!!! They didn't even put fruit in it. Complimentary chips and salsa were very good. I loved all the fresh cilantro in the salsa, but was annoyed at all the broken chips in our basket. The Philly rolls, as an appetizer, were very unique and I would get them again. I had the tempura fish tacos, which were cooked nicely with fresh ingredients. My wife had the street tacos. She liked them, but was disappointed at the soggy corn tortillas that just fell apart. The black beans, guacamole, and yellow rice were also great. I love their use of fresh cilantro on all the dishes. Service was straight to the point and prompt. The food came out quick and was hot. The place looked clean. Parking was kind of chaotic when the lot is full. Would go back. Went back again and everything was great again. The salsa is amazing. Fajitas were great with tons of lean grilled meat. Way more than vegetables. No broken tortilla chips. Parking was easy this time. Food came out in about five minutes. Crazy fast. Moving to five stars! read more

I have been a customer for years now....but today I went to the Chicopee MA Frontera Grill and actually was very disappointed on their pricing. My teen step child ordered chicken tenders and the waitress asked her if she wanted fries and she said yes. When we got the bill, the tenders were 15.00 alone and almost five bucks for "Fries". Now that's 20 dollars in total. Now these were basic tenders, like they looked bought from somewhere and basic fries, but yet we got charged higher than almost everything on their menu for this. This is not fair pricing at all,this is basic food, not your gourmet dishes which were mostly priced under 18 bucks. I told the waitress also about this and she just said she would bring it up to her supervisor. Nothing else happened, they collected my bill and proceeded to rip me off for some basic good. One restaurant after another has tried to survive in the former PJ Scott's location and I figured this one would just add to the list of fails; boy was I wrong: *Incredibly fast and friendly service (perhaps TOO fast); we had JUST finished our app and the entrees were already being put in front of us. Water was continually refilled throughout our meal and chips/salsa came out within 20 seconds of sitting down; the staff seems eager to wait on you and are very nice. *The food is SOOO good!! I didn't think it was possible to find a Mexican establishment with food this good outside of CA. We both got the fajitas (chicken, shrimp and steak) and were thoroughly impressed; if you've ever been to Acapulcos in Enfield--it's better. *Delicious margaritas; we are both snobs when it comes to a good 'rita but you can tell they use fresh, natural ingredients. No overly sweet mix (we both got the $9 premium 'ritas with Cabo and Don Julio); very generous portions. Party of 5 Friday night 11/2/2018. Waited just a few minutes and got sat at a nice table in main dining area. Given menus and chips and salsa. After a few moments, a gentleman came by and said they had to move us because the needed our table to combine with another table for a party of 15 that arrived. Moved us to the bar area. Crappy table and too loud. We decided that we were not going to eat here. I thought that moving us was rude and disrespectful. Management offered us a free appetizer, I declined. Then management offered our original table back. Are you kidding me?!?!? Why did you move us in the first place?? They lost at least a $175-$200 ticket! read more

Brought my family there last night to celebrate a promotion for my son in law. We were a party of 12 which 5 of them were children 14 and under. We arrived at 6:30 with reservations , we ordered by 6:50 and didn't receive our first couple of meals until 7:50. We sat waiting another 20 minutes as the other dinners trickled in while some were eating, others chose to wait. The youngest, an 8 year old, was the last to be served a hamburger ! A few desserts were ordered and they couldn't arrive together either!! We left the restaurant at 9:10 P. M. The food was unfortunately just o.k. I have to say the waitress was great and apologetic and we understood it was not her fault . we would have appreciated someone from management coming over to acknowledge their lack of service and our frustration. IMPRESSED~! I have to admit I was pretty skeptical, for a number of reasons. The fact that it is in Chicopee might lead the pack. Mexican/Chicopee...takes a bit to get used to. This location has seen a number of restaurants come and go. Frontera I do believe will be here for years to come. They have done a great job with the atmosphere. Can hardly recognize the place. Fresh made salsa was great. Authentic. Fresh. Flavorful. Good selection of additional hot sauces at the table. Chips were fine, but didn't have that in-house made taste. Dinners were excellent as well, Mole isn't something that is all that easy to pull off, but these guys make a real winner. The waitstaff are all friendly and helpful. Our waiter ended up being the son of the owner. It took us a while to figure it out, but it came clear with the way he was so helpful with the rest of the staff. Nice work. There is a passion that runs through this place. It's easy to pick up on. Plenty of attention to detail. Exit interview on our way out the door, further proves the level these people care. Only one complaint. I do like the roll around fresh table-side made guacamole. They do need to get some different wheels for that cart though! Think shopping cart with a wobbling wheel following you around every aisle while you are grocery shopping. Grrr.... read more

Finally built the courage to write a review about this horrible restaurant. About a month ago I went to this restaurant with my best friend, we ordered street tacos and one top shelf margarita each. I had been here a handful of times prior to this visit but this visit was hands down my worst dining experience ever. The tacos I ordered steak and they brought me beef, and let's talk about the drink. Not sure what happened there but after my first sip I was projectile vomiting for two days. Frontera Grill used to be the best Mexican restaurant in the area with the exception of maybe Mama Iguanas. Now, not so much. While the food is generally good, they definitely pre-cook the chicken for their fajitas. Whatever you do, don't get the chicken fajitas for lunch as the chicken is leftover from the previous night and is very dry! read more

this place is fabulous it reminds me of California. The chips are fresh just a nice amount of salt. The portions are really nice. And it's a fantastic Mexican busy. How do I know well living in Los Angeles for 10 years 10 years in San Francisco. And then eight years in Palm Springs California I visit Mexico a great deal. I would go down to Ensenada the doctor a test one of the pioneers in implants. Graduated come back and body the San Francisco dental school. He has two wineries any of the three restaurants. I have one rising star Star chef James Beard. This place is fantastic I don't get five stars to often. Only to restaurants take out the oven beyond but you won't go wrong read more

I was visiting Chicopee MA from out of state for just one day, and my local contacts recommended Frontera Grill. I arrived early for Saturday dinner, but the parking lot was already crowded and the restaurant was already quite busy. Nonetheless, we were greeted immediately and seated quickly. The service during this visit was top-notch! Upon being seated we were given hot tortilla chips and house-made salsa, which was mild but very tasty. We then ordered Margaritas, plus one guacamole prepared table-side, one vegan meal, and one fajitas Texanas meat trio combo -- quite the opposite of vegan. Everything was served quickly and efficiently, and our server was very attentive, friendly, and accommodating. My sizzling fajitas came out very hot and contained a generous portion high-quality steak, chicken, and shrimp ... along with a nice mix of fresh peppers and onions. The dish was well-balanced, not overly salty as is often the case elsewhere. Throughout the meal, the server remained attentive. I eat restaurant Mexican fairly often, and I can say that my Frontera Grill experience ranked highly! read more
