Went to this From The Boot location last night for the first time, and I was skeptical at first. Let me say I was so pleasantly surprised at how good the food and service were. We sat at the bar on a rainy Monday night and were very attentively waited on. I started with the bruschetta what was heaven. Fresh, and seasoned perfectly, I can't wait to try it again. I also ordered what had been my favorite dish from the Lafyette Hill location, the chicken Scarpiella over penne and it won me back :) the pasta al dente, the chicken flavorful and tender and the sauce was delicious. I was happily stuffed after the meal and still made room for tiramisu. It was also delightful, light and creamy with no skimp on the liquor flavor. I can't wait to head back soon. read more

Food was great. I got the Branzini with artichoke hearts and capers. Very tasty and nicely prepared and presented. Also tried the salmon. It was also delicious and well made. Tender and moist but nice char on outside. One small thing-The calamari was a little tougher than I'd expect from a nice Italian place. Service was great. Attentive. One of my biggest peaves is when glasses at table are left empty. Never happened here. Someone was always making rounds filling glasses and asking us if we were good. Had dinner for five on a Saturday night. One of the best meals I've had in recent memory. The bruschetta appetizer was as good as I ever had. Highly recommend. For my entree had ravioli marinara - fantastic. Tangy sauce. Others in our group had the gnocchi with vodka sauce, grilled salmon and pizza margherita. Everybody left stuffed and happy. Stopped in with my wife on a Friday night. Seated outside right away as we requested which afforded good people watching. Waitress was extremely nice. I had Caesar salad (large portion, pretty tasty) then the scallop special which was excellent. Wife had appetizer of roasted red peppers with provolone and olives (very generous size -- fine for 2 people) and a pasta in vodka sauce which she enjoyed. Great place! Some of the best italian food I have ever had! Penne alla vodka is amazing, salads are fresh and crisp, calamri and brushetta are amazing as well! Had the tiramusu once as well. To die for! Wait staff is on top of their game and so is management. Eric, is a great general manager! Very friendly, dedicated and knows his stuff! I like the Ambler one because it has a bar and their bartenders are good! I do like to go to the BYOB store in Lafayette Hill as well though. Food is 5 stars, service is 5 stars, and the atmosphere is 5 stars. Great location in Ambler so after eating you can walk off all (well not all) but alot of the food you just ate! I've been going to From the Boot or The Boot twice a week for over a year. It's my pre-massage ritual. I prefer to sit at the bar for good company & excellent service by Wade & Dan. The food is classic So. Italian & the Bruschetta is amazing. If you like Italian fare it can't be beat. I've never had a bad meal there. I just revisited on 3/22/14 with my wife & the food as always was outstanding. But we tried the "Lava Cake" which may have been renamed since they changed it. The waitress warned us it had changed & she was right. The new "Lava Cake" or whatever it's now called was no comparison to the old. We took ours home & had the chocolate gelato at the restaurant. In our opinion having recently been in Italy was not very good or very chocolatey. The cake we ate at home had changed & had an artificial taste to it it with more gooey stuff than chocolate cake. The took something great & ruined it. read more

We have been dining here for some time and the food and atmosphere are always great. A few months back I told the manager that his cocktails, specifically a Canadian Club whiskey were overpriced even more expensive than Valley Forge Casino. His response was that he was just keeping up with the competition. I always thought you wanted to beat the competition. Anyway my wife and I lunched yesterday and her vodka was $10.50. We had one more on the way home at the Blue Bell Inn and the same vodka was $7.75. Are they not competition? We will continue to dine at Boot but probably not as frequently and only with iced tea. read more

This was my first time to From the Boot. We went on a Saturday night around 7:30pm. The place was full but not crowded. After giving our name we sat at the bar and had a drink. The drinks were good (when aren't the drinks good?). We were then seated at a booth on the far wall of the restaurant. We started with the calamari. Not the best I have ever had and a bit salty, but passable. We then had the bruschetta. Well...let me tell you...this was the best bruschetta I have ever had. It had plump juicy tomatoes and just the right amount of garlic, onion and basil. Very good For dinner I had the veal parm and my wife had the shell fish fra diavlo. Both dishes were very good. The veal was a little salty (maybe a theme), but was very good overall. I would reccomend this restaurant. read more

Our experience went downhill quickly. I could actually give this restaurant two stars due to its category from Yelp, as in "Meh, I've had better," but it wasn't *that* bad. Everything started out fine. We were seated at one of those long "communal" tables because the place was full (Friday at 8:45 PM). The waitress brought us our drinks pretty quickly and asked if we were ready to order. I wasn't, which was my mistake because it took her fairly long to re-appear. We never received the bread and had to ask for it. The food did not come out in a timely manner. I had the cheese tortellini. It was OK, not bad, not the best in my life, either. We wanted and asked for more bread. It never came. The Caesar salad was quite good, however. Now, we needed the check. The waitress never appeared for us to ask for the check. I went up and got her. She was chatting away with someone on the steps. She never came back to get the check with the credit card. The manager noticed this and he came and brought it to her. Again, she's chatting away and was not coming to take the check. It was nearing 10:00. Finally, she came to take the check. I am not in a hurry to go back. I am sure there's an Italian restaurant out there with better service. read more

This is our favorite restaurant in Ambler. We are spoiled in our little town, but the Boot has delivered since it has opened and we are huge fans. The staff is great, Wade is the man behind the bar with Donovan and Thomas. The food, well....its fantastic. I have been very fortnuate to spend quite a bit of time in Italy and the gnocchi here in vodka sauce stands up to what I consistently have over there. It melts in your mouth. The Filet Mignon is by far my favorite, and I have sent numerous clients in to try it out as well, with the same reaction....YUM! My husband will almost always get the special and we have never been disappointed. Last night, 20 of us were there for my birthday and it went off perfectly. We had the section up front by the windows and it worked out just great. The restaurant week menu is fantastic and totally affordable. If you haven't checked it out, you really should, its a neighborhood gem run by good people that serve up some pretty delicious dishes. read more

We recently held a graduation party at From the Boot, Ambler, and they did an outstanding job. The Ambler private event area was beautiful, set up perfectly for my requests, the staff was very helpful and friendly, and the party was spectacular. I heard nothing but praise from the guests on the food, staff and location! My husband and I were beyond pleased with everything. We have always loved going to From the Boot for dinner and special occasions, it's our favorite restaurant. The food is outstanding. Usually the service is very good. However the last time I was there it could use some improvement as we waited 15 minutes for dessert when the restaurant was fairly empty. I have eaten at From the Boot before at both locations. I was at a surprise party in their downstairs room and thought this would be a great place to have my wife's surprise 60th birthday party. It was awesome, the food was great; we had bruchetta, house salad, ravioli's and meatballs (homemade daily) and chicken parm. From the Boot made many new fans with my 60 guests that we had. Stopped in awhile ago for lunch with a friend. They have great lunch specials! I especially love the penne bolognese.

The food and service were very good. The hostess said there was no table when clearly there was. When I pointed it out, she said people don't like this little table. It was perfectly fine, so she seated us. My only other complaint was we each ordered a small Caesar salad with anchovies listed at $5.00 on the menu. There were 3 anchovies on each salad. When the bill came, the salads were $7.50 each. They said there was an upcharge of $2.50 for the anchovies. I found that to be outrageous and think that it should be noted on the menu or mentioned by the server at the time of ordering. read more
