Great Course. I was invited by a good friend who is a member. This is a private Club. I have played…read morethe Course a few times in the past. It has undergone some major changes in landscape. They have removed hundreds of trees opening up the Course and providing more wide open vistas, especially from the clubhouse terrace. The view from the Clubhouse veranda is fabulous. You can see the LuLu Clubhouse, a neighboring Club, in the distance. The original trolley is still operational. It takes your bags and you up to the Clubhouse from the 18th & 9th greens while caddy's take the carts around up the long winding cart paths. All very quant and old timey. The layout is challenging with many changes in elevation and some very challenging greens. The greens are impeccable although I remember them being even faster. The rough was a bit harsh. Very easy to lose your ball if you do not keep your tee shot on the fairways. A bit windy on our day otherwise conditions were perfect. We never felt pushed and never caught up to any group in front. Caddy master explained they space each group 15 minutes apart. Very nice and quite a change from the 5-7 minute spacing at some public Courses. The staff are wonderful. Friendly, accommodating and always ready to assist. We had a bite to eat after the round. The food is higher end Country Club. Playing here is a real treat as I no longer have a private club membership myself. If you can get on the Course I highly recommend it. Mark.

From The Boot - Chicken ceasar salad

From the Boot was just okay overall . Not bad, but not somewhere I'd be rushing back to…read more We started with the meat and cheese board, which honestly was not worth it. It came with two kinds of meats, two cheeses, olives, and roasted red peppers, which felt pretty underwhelming but u suppose reasonable for the price. The stuffed mushrooms were actually very good flavor wise, but unfortunately they arrived lukewarm. The garlic knots, however, were heavenly! easily one of the best parts of the meal . The meatballs were average but good. nothing memorable, and the calamari was nothing special either as the fish to batter ratio was off and left it a bit disappointing. For entrées, my mom's Shrimp Scampi & Linguini was overcooked and slimy, which was a letdown. My dad did enjoy his Rigatoni Pesto & Steak, so that was a highlight. The house salad was again nothing special, and my grilled chicken was burnt and unpleasantly sour. The fries were good (as fries usually are), but it was strange that the only condiment offered at first was ketchup. After asking again, we eventually found out they did have mayo. Service was mixed. Our server switched halfway through the meal, and drinks took a while to come out. Both servers were sweet and attentive, but they weren't very proactive about dealing with or asking the kitchen about simple modifications. That said, it was late and close to the end of the night, and as someone who works in the restaurant industry myself, I understand how that can be tricky. Given the circumstances, they did a decent job, and we made sure to tip well because we appreciated their effort. Dessert was definitely the strongest part of the meal. Everything we tried was delicious from the chocolate cake which was rich, fudgy, and mouthwatering, and the cheesecake and cannoli were just as good. Was also nicely busy for the later time we were there so i recommend making a reservation. Overall, From the Boot was fine, with a few highs and misses. Not terrible, but not particularly impressive either.

My wife and I just were married at Old York on Saturday September 6, 2014. Old York Road County…read moreClub has a great reputation and now we know why. In 2014 they received the "Best Wedding Location" on Wedding Wire. The grounds are awesome and there isn't a bad view on the property. The main banquet room has a large terrace that overlooks the golf course and this is where we ended up getting married and having the cocktail hour. Our plan was to get married in the small outdoor garden near the entrance to the restaurant but due to thunderstorms we had to go with plan B. I thought they could have done a better job of setting up the seating on the terrace and taken a few more minutes to organize it. We were very rushed. The center pieces were part of the wedding package and were provided by Valley Green Florists in Spring House. I was informed just before the ceremony that the center pieces had not arrived and Valley Green said that we were taking care of them. This was not the case. Joe Wurtz did take care of it and had them make up center pieces and had them in time for the reception. The day we got married it was 90+ degrees. The small A/C unit in the Bridal Suite couldn't keep up and it was extremely hot up there. As with any business you need to have a manager that oversees everything and keeps things on track. Joe Wurtz organizes all of the functions and I couldn't have asked for a better man. From the first time we visited the club to the last dance at our wedding Joe did everything in his power to make things run smoothly. Joe was visible during our entire event and made sure to frequently check to see if everything was going well. The servers also asked how the food was and were top notch the entire night. The kitchen crew did a great job and I'm still getting compliments on the Hors d'oeuvres and main courses. I'm a bit picky when it comes to food so I wanted to ensure that none of the food was frozen. I was happy to learn that they make almost 100% of the Hors D'oeuvres from scratch. It was obvious that this was true because all of them were delicious.
