We have stayed here three times now. Our first trip was in Papa John's Cabin. We brought food and had meals as a family. We rarely do that at home. I think this was my favorite cabin yet. The rain on the roof was a nice part, if it had to be raining. Our second trip was in The Mill House because we brought our dog. This is the one pet friendly cabin they have. Our most recent trip was in Deer Run, because our big kid wanted the loft. The loft is very roomy! My mother was from Elkin, so I like to visit the area. Nice day trips to the parkway, Stone Mountain, Mt. Airy, or even Blowing Rock. Of course, downtown Elkin is nice, too! The staff has always been responsive of any issues during any of our stays. I hear the wine tours are great, but we haven't tried any ourselves. read more

Excellent service driving us to all the different wineries. Very personable, friendly and informative! Anna knows all the back roads and it was a relief to not have to worry about driving. Very organized, Anna created an itinerary for us and thought of everything. Not only making reservations at the wineries, but also planning our lunch break and providing water in the van. Yadkin Valley has some some of the best wines in the world. Frog Holler provides the absolute best way to try these. Their cabins have all the comforts and privacy. Their tour service is great. This is the way you want to try the wines. Anna was a great guide, driver and advisor. She answered any of Caril and my questions. We did not need to deal with curvy mountain roads. Also NC Troopers do not take kindly to those that may loose count of how many sips they have tried. If I could change any thing, maybe two days of visits to vinyards. My neighbor visited the Frog Holler Cabins some time ago and told me I had to go. We stayed in The Mill House. When we first arrived we immediately knew we were going to be able to relax and have a wonderful time. The home is beautiful with a hot tub in the back! Who can beat that. It was perfect as the weather was still on the cooler side. We also brought our own meals and asked for a propane grill to borrow. That's when we met the owners who are incredibly personable and friendly. The kitchen is perfectly set up for whatever you choose to make. The kicker to our relaxing weekend was our massages! The website has the information for Jan Ayers who brought all her own equipment and gave us stress free massages in the house! The grounds are beautiful for a hike, walk. We sat and had drinks in a gazebo that had a fire table, great to watch the sun set. They also offer wine tours, we were not there long enough to do a full tour. When we left we honestly felt at ease and I noticed as we were packing my husband getting anxiety heading back home...that just shows how we were able to unwind. This place was great! Shhhhh! Sorry Sally - but we found this place! After looking on-line for some place to rest our weary heads after a weekend Yadkin Valley wine tour, we elected to spend a night at the Frog Holler Cabins. I am not one to typically like staying in the woods, sleeping in a cabin, or being some place called "Frog Holler". However, after viewing the website and checking out the photos I thought we might be on to something different from my last cabin experience at Girl Scout Camp in 1986. We followed our VZ navigator and found our way through the small town of Elkin to Frog Holler Cabins. Down the gravel drive we went, all the way to the end - we'd been told we were in the third cabin. We quickly found our cabin and rushed down the stairs to see what was there. Inside we found an adorable little cozy cottage decorated in shades of blue. There was an open space with a living area, a dining area, a nicely appointed kitchen, a bedroom space, and a bathroom. We also enjoyed the back porch with the hot tub and the front porch with the swing. Everything was quiet, peaceful, restful, and relaxing - everything we were looking for. The place was immaculate, the sheets were soft, the towels were supple, and the space was cozy. So sorry Sally, but we'll be back! This was our first time visiting the cabins and we had a wonderful time! The cabin was clean and comfy with all the accommodations needed. We visited wineries, fished at the nearby pond, and took a tubing adventure. Our friends stayed in the cabin next to ours and all of our children had a memorable time together. The owners made it very easy to check in and check out and included all the needed instructions inside the cabin. They were so kind to make us a fire so we could make s'mores on our last night. My husband and I were looking for some lodging while visiting the wineries in the area and I stumbled upon frog holler cabins. These people have hit the nail on the head. Cozy, private and with all the amenities you still want while staying at a cabin in the woods. Fully equipped kitchen, WiFi, Cable TV, gas fireplace, AC, comfortable bed and living area, this place has it all. It was very clean, even by my standards. The back deck was covered with a small view of the creek and it could not have been more perfect. We sat in the hot tub and just listened to the water. The location is wonderful, within 30 minutes of 25 vineyards and wineries. I could go on and on. Reservations and check-in/check-out was seamless. We stayed here in May 2009 for our first anniversary and going back next month for another long weekend. I almost hate to review them because it's such an incredible find. Reasonably priced, very clean, with kind of a shabby chic decor - these cabins are romantic and closely located to many of the wineries in the Elkin area as well as Stone Mountain park (fishing for my hubby since he tolerates the wineries). The small kitchen is convenient for breakfast and the hot tub on the back porch is exquisite after a day of fishing and wine-tastings. This has been come a semi-local favorite when we want to get away for a long weekend and we are excited about going back next month! read more

Long story short: climate control amenities were not as described (either broken or never were working), and the owners did nothing to help fix our issues. Frog Holler was such a disappointment to us. I booked a cabin for a girls' weekend in February. When we arrived, the cabin was clean and comfortable. However, as the temperatures dropped below freezing, our wall heater quit working entirely. Also, the fireplace did not work as advertised; it has a thermostat switch on the fireplace, but it would not run on the thermostat. If we turned the thermostat to 70, the fireplace would keep running on high until the room was in the 80s. If we turned the fireplace down low to 50 or so, it would shut off (as would be expected if the room was about 50). However, it would not maintain a steady temperature. In other words, the wall unit would not circulate air at all, and the fireplace's thermostat worked only as an on/off switch and not as a true climate control. We went to bed the first night with the fireplace set to around 70. We woke up sweating to death as the fireplace had been on full-blast and did not turn off once the inside temperatures reached 70. This was when we also noticed that the wall unit had quit working. We turned the fireplace down (which turned it off) and waited till the morning to call the owners. Once we called, we were told that "the wall unit doesn't work below freezing in your cabin, so just use the fireplace." Well, we tried. We spoke to the other owner and the wine tour guide (son-in-law, I think) about our issues with climate control. We understood that the wall unit did not work in our cabin, as we were told our unit was different and just wouldn't work below freezing like the other units would in other cabins. Not a huge deal. We expressed our concerns with the fireplace not working like a thermostat and only working as an on/off switch. Our concerns were heard, and we were told someone would look into it while we were on the tour. That evening, the fireplace was still not working correctly (it wouldn't shut off when it reached the set temperature). To combat this, we tried letting the room get cold before we went to sleep, since we knew the fireplace would be on full-blast at night. This strategy worked for a while, until we woke up roasting again. We opened the windows and kept the fireplace on for the remainder of the night. The next day, one of the owners took us into town for dinner (we paid for his taxi service). We continued to express our concerns over the climate control problem. Although he heard our concerns, I really don't think anyone understood that not having a working AC/heat unit on the wall AND not having a properly working fireplace is a big issue, especially when temperatures outside are 0 degrees Fahrenheit. In hindsight, I should have refused the lodging as soon as I noticed the climate control did not work properly, and we should have just gone to a hotel. I didn't want to ruin the weekend by having to find new accommodations last-minute. Frog Holler had great reviews, which is why we chose to stay here. However, we felt like we were not valued as customers and our concerns were never taken seriously since we technically did have heat...we just couldn't control it. I vacation in this area frequently, and I could have been a loyal customer to Frog Holler for many years to come. I'll be taking my business elsewhere from now on. Find a family who actually cares about the well-being of their cabin guests. read more

I cannot say I have ever found a hospitality company with worse customer service! They are not flexible or understanding by any means. Teresa has been completely unwilling to help find a date that works, when a reservation was already paid for! Receiving this reservation as a gift that was picked for an inconvenient date, I have now completely lost the gift an am unable to utilize the cabin getaway AND they have refused to issue a refund. Incredibly poor customer service. I should never have to speak to an irate owner when they are IN the hospitality business!! I would not recommend this company. read more

My boyfriend and I already planned our next trip to Frog Holler before we left! We stayed in the Mill House for an early Valentine's Day trip. Only 45 minutes from Winston Salem, NC it was an easy trek out and the check-in and check-out process was so easy. An added bonus that they were dog friendly! (They even provided dog baggies upon arrival). The cabin was so cozy and clean, with ample tools to cook with. Amazing location. Loved easy hiking access to the creek and so many amazing vineyards close by! Can't wait for our next trip there! read more

The cabin we stayed in was very cozy and the hot tub on the back deck was awesome. there was a gas fireplace that we were able to use as it cooled off the two nights we were there. We did the wine tour and John was excellent as our wine guide. He took us to 4 wineries on the day of our tour and we really enjoyed our time that day. We went for a hike on the morning that we checked out and the scenery there is beautiful with the small stream running behind the cabins. my wife and I plan on going back in September and making it at least a yearly trip and we will definitely be staying here again! I was so sad to leave yesterday!!! We came down from VA to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. We loved the Papa John cabin as soon as we walked in and immediately started thinking of people we could bring in the future. We lucked out and got to enjoy the light snow on Sunday, it was gorgeous! Adam, our wine tour driver (DEFINITELY take the private wine tour in the Hummer!), was so kind and funny. We really enjoyed talking to him about the wineries and Elkin. For me, one of the cabins was a much-needed solitary get-away and it was absolutely perfect for that! Gorgeous, quiet, well-equipped, easy to get to. I spent hours on the lovely front porch swing, enjoyed the back deck hot tub in the middle of the woods while watching a wonderful summer storm, walked the acres of woods behind the house without seeing a soul, and Cooke healthy meals in the perfect kitchen. My wife and I spent our honeymoon here and this place was exactly what we were looking for. The Deer Run Cabin was everything we needed without all the unnecessary frills. The bed was so comfy we had trouble getting out of bed each morning and the sunshine slowly filled up the cabin making for a nice gentle wakeup. We were able to take the wine tour with Frog Holler and John was great. He took us to 5 different wineries and was a great guy to chat with as well. We stopped in at the Amish store for a great lunch and had a great experience. Sitting in the hot tube listening to the rain hit the tin roof after an amazing day at Stone Mtn. was absolutely amazing. We were looking for a quiet weekend getaway and found it here at Frog Holler. Stayed in the cute little Hawk's Nest cabin which had everything we needed. We did not cook in at all but could have. Enjoyed the front and rear (overlooking a bevy of colorful fall trees/leaves) porches very much. Local Wineries were fun, try Slightly Askew in Elkin as was Kayaking the Yadkin at Yadkin River Adventures. We will be back for sure! read more

My wife and I stayed in the the Deer Run Cabin this past w/end while we visited several wineries. I will say this place has everything you want/need and nothing you don't. From the minute you pull up to the entrance and are greeted by the frog statue everything was done perfectly. When you walk in it's like a normal size place with all the amenities shrank down to cabin size. It's really cool and very private. There is absolutely nothing these guys have left out to make your stay great. The deck overlooked Elkin Creek and was the perfect place to hang out a bit before going to dinner. The bed was about as good as it gets for any rental and was super comfortable. The towels were really plush and the place was cleaned to even the pickiest standards, ours. We woke up to a rainy morning and took advantage of several hours of quite time, no kids, in the comfy chairs in front of the gas fireplace enjoying coffee while using the provided wi fi to catch up on the days news and plan our day. The owners have done a great job with this place and hope they do well with their cabins. Look forward to visiting them again in the future. read more
