I also enjoyed the zine wall as this allowed me to browse local comic artist creations that you would not usually find. I wish I lived closer to this shop. One of the best comic book shops I've visited.

Having read about Doris Records online before my trip to Buffalo--that they've been around since…read more'62 and sell jazz, blues, hip-hop, R&B, gospel, etc.--I was pretty excited to check this place out, along with some of the other record stores in town. When I finally got there I was a little surprised to find out that Doris Records doesn't actually sell any records at all, though they had in the past. They do have a pretty big selection of CDs though, so I figured I'd look around for a bit. Eventually I found a great collection of gospel music from the '50s and '60s by Swan Silvertones, which made a major contribution to the musical soundtrack of my road trip around the state over the next few weeks. I don't know if it's ever been part of their plan, but it would be awesome if this shop had a few bins of used vinyl for sale. I bet they'd get people bringing in some pretty incredible stuff. And then the name of the store would make more sense too. It also wouldn't hurt to be a little bit friendlier to the folks who drop in. I'm not the type that needs to be coddled at all, but I was the only customer in the store, and I got the impression that they really wished that I would hurry up and leave. But you know, they've been around since 1962, so they must be doing something right.

It's almost unbelievable that a record store of this caliber exists in my hometown. On a recent…read morevisit back from my current home in Vegas, I stopped by a few other record stores--none of them stood out. At all. As a longtime high-end vinyl collector, I've been forced to shop online for years to find the rare and hard-to-get titles. But this store changes everything. From Japanese imports (at great prices) to new releases and exceptionally clean used vinyl, their selection is top-tier. There's truly something for everyone. The customer service is just as impressive. Owner Chris Baran is knowledgeable, personable, and clearly passionate about both music and the customer experience. And when he's not there, Malachi runs the shop with the same warmth and dedication. I actually went twice in one week. There are zero downsides to mention. If you're looking for the best-priced, highest-quality vinyl (plus CDs and cassettes) in the region, this place absolutely needs to be on your must-visit list. It's officially my new favorite store.
