This was a pretty disappointing location. The fries were badly made. Some were hard, some weren't properly salted, some were just tasteless. I was with some friends and they both thought the fries weren't very good and I have to agree even though I love their fries usually. It's such a bummer because this was their first time coming here and they got a bad batch of fries. The location is nice but the kitchen makes the whole place unbearably hot. I wouldn't eat here. They have a lovely terrace though.

Bland food. Poor service. No one acknowledged our presence, so we seated ourselves. Had to wave down the ONE guy waiting on people to order. Took forever to get our food and it wasn't any good. I'm not sure if it's a cultural difference or what but I felt like I wasn't supposed to be here.

Regular sized classic poutine I ordered, quite good!

I would definitely consider myself a poutine enthusiast. Whenever I am up in Quebec, regardless of the restaurant, I will always upgrade my fries to a poutine without thinking twice. A friend of mine always raved about Frites Alors, and I was on the way to the bus station up the road so I thought: why not? stop in and grab a bite. After looking at the menu I settled on this one that had "Bush" in the name. It had ground beef, onions, and mushrooms in it. I really don't enjoy mushrooms so I asked the server if I could order that poutine but to hold the mushrooms. He said unfortunately he can't. It was 4:15pm on a Sunday afternoon, I was one of 4 people in there, if it was busy and he said he couldn't I would've accepted it. I double checked with him one more time after he gave me a water if I could order that poutine and he still said no. Keep in mind, I'm sitting at the bar and can see where they make the food, all the toppings are divided up into different containers so it wouldn't have been impossible, and I would've been more than happy to pay the original price for it. I ended up just grabbing a traditional poutine, to-go instead of eating it in there. All in all, the poutine was pretty damn good, and I had a regular sized one which was very filling. I don't know if I'd go back again, the food was good, but the service wasn't amazing.

Have traveled the US 50 States, I can say Canada is beautiful. Frite Alors is great, the Poutine is awesome and I am thankful for the staff for being so friendly and courteous. Food is great and staff made it taste better.

The best fries in Montreal, Hands down. Casual. High end ingredients. Friendly service. Fair selection on beers to accompany your meal.

Not everyone wanted to eat poutine, and this place was great for its diverse menu of more-than-just-poutine.

My sister was trying the ramen dog and mozzarella/hot dog. I didn't enjoy the line up in the cold, my toes were super frozen. The service is average; they rush you to make your choice. After receiving the corn dogs; you hope to find a warm place to try them. We went inside the metro to eat them. They are delicious, but since it's deep fried, you feel the heaviness of it in your belly. I was happy to try them but the experience to get them and eating them somewhere warm was horrendous.

I went on their second day of being open and for the ramen hot dog and the Gamsung hotdog (mozzarella cheese deep fried with pieces of French fried potatoes on top). Both were delicious but my favourite was definitely the ramen, it was so crunchy. You order on the right hand side of the restaurant and then wait in the line on the left hand side to receive your food (pay attention to your number as they will call it out to let you in the restaurant to pick up). Once you pick up your order you have a choice of 8 sauces. My server put a bit too much so I say less is more when it comes to sauces. They have a menu on the side with their recommendations of sauce to put on which Kogo. You also don't want to overwhelm the Kogo with too much sauce because there's so much to taste already. I put spicy mayo, mayo, and honey mustard on both of my Kogos and it was too much. The sauces were good but it just got too much. If you want to put more than one sauce, ask the server to only put a little. My friend got the volcano with chill sauce and recommends that one. He also got the ramen hot dog with spicy mayo and he said it was a bad pairing, he thought the spicy mayo would've been good on another hot dog. I also got the pineapple juice and it was pretty good! A bit ordinary but good to pair with your meal. Prices are around 4.99-6.99 per Kogo so not cheap but they are loaded so it's worth it. Lines seem long but it goes by quickly.

Whenever I don't know what to eat but still want something good (and not too heavy), this is usually it. The chicken is always solid. Juicy, well cooked, and actually seasoned properly, which is not always the case at places like this. You can tell it's marinated and not just grilled plain. I usually get a bowl and load it up with veggies and a sauce or two. The sauces are really what make it for me -- flavorful but not overpowering, and they don't taste artificial. What I like is that you can build the bowl however you want. Some days I go lighter, other days I'm hungry and add more. Portions are decent and I usually feel full after, not stuffed but satisfied. Price feels fair for what you get. The place itself is clean and simple, nothing fancy but comfortable. Staff has been nice every time I've gone. Sometimes it's busy, but they still move pretty fast and don't make you feel rushed or ignored. It's not "fine dining" obviously, but it's reliable. And that matters. If you're looking for something fresh, filling, and easy, Poulet Rouge is a good choice. I'd recommend it, especially if you're tired of greasy fast food.

My friend ordered a regular chicken bowl and it was a *huge* portion -- we could barely finish, but it was so tasty we kept wanting "just one more bite." Definitely a spot I'd recommend, especially if you've just arrived in town or don't feel like cooking. Perfect for a quick takeout fix that doesn't feel like a compromise on flavor.

Date of visit: June 11, 2023…read more The homeless people standing outside should have been a warning; not even they want the food here! The whole place seemed dirty and greasy, and the bakery case looked like a McDonald's marketing team's worst nightmare; nothing in there appeared even remotely appetizing. I could not wait to leave and we only came here because the A&W down the street closes at 9 pm and they wouldn't serve us, despite the big "24 hours" neon sign in their window...
