Burgers and fried plantains are amazing! The staff is super friendly! I can't wait until it gets warm again and we can go enjoy their food on the patio. It's a counter service place. So, place your order at the counter and then someone brings your order to your table. I think most of the table are communal. They serve booze, if that's your thing. You should eat here. read more

Tried out Frita Batidos the first day I visited Ann Arbor, because I heard it was a must try..was definitely worth the visit! I ordered the Loco Frita with a side of shoestring fries. It was very tasty and well made, but I found the overall meal to be too rich. However, that was probably on me for not adding enough freshness on my burger. The restaurant is also not the cheapest, but that is generally to be expected of Ann Arbor. Overall, would definitely recommend a try!! read more

Frita Batidos - loco frita with a side of shoestring fries - Cuban Near Me - Ann Arbor, Michigan

Was visiting the Ann Arbor area and got a recommendation to check out this place. I placed an online order and it was ready for pick up by the time I got to the restaurant. The store interior was nice and bright, with picnic benches set up for indoor dining. It was a bit confusing figuring out where to pick up the food - there were different stations for picking up food/drinks, so I had to get a receipt for my drink and pick it up from the drink counter after getting the food. Not a huge deal, as the workers (who were all super nice!) guided me through the process. I tried the chorizo frita, garlic cilantro fries, churro, and passionfruit batido. I opted to get the fries for the frita on the side, which I probably would not recommend as without the fries it's basically just the patty in between the buns. The flavor of the frita was good, but it was a bit dry. I wish they had put a bit more mayo. The garlic cilantro fries were also good, but I'll probably pass on these the next time I come here just because there's already fries in the frita. The churros were HUGE. Unfortunately by the time I ate them they seemed to have hardened, I'm not sure if they came out that way or if it was because of the time it took to get back home after picking up my order. The passionfruit batido was hands down the best thing about my meal. I still dream about it because it was THAT good. The passion fruit flavor really comes through and it's not overly sweet. Will definitely be back the next time I'm in the area. read more

The food tastes great! It is a bit pricey and I added bacon to my lunch, which cost $2.25 extra for only 1 piece of bacon. That was disappointing. But, live and learn. For the taste alone, I'll probably be back. read more

Frita & Batidos were delicious. The wait was a bit long. Service excellent. Water is served at the tables. It's a little loud. They have dominos to play while you wait. Frita Batidos - Beef Frita Fresh Lime Batido - Cuban Near Me - Ann Arbor, Michigan

I have been a fan of Frita since the first time I came here. The burger is so good and different from other burgers. I was so excited that they opened a location in Detroit, however I think this location is the best. The workers are very friendly and the food is pretty good! I always get the beef burger with muenster cheese and an egg. I recommend everyone get it this way because it really does make it very good! Every time I go I order a batido. My favorite is the passionfruit one. I have also tried the light one, which is not worth it in my opinion. It's a bit tart so if you don't want something too sweet then it is a good option. Otherwise, I would just go with the extra calories and get one of the regular ones. The most recent one I have tried is the chocolate one, it was pretty good. The reason I am giving 4 stars is because the fries here are very disappointing. I have stopped ordering them because they are always soggy and never crispy. They are just very oily which makes them soggy. I think the few fries that go into the burger are enough to satisfy my fry cravings. Also, I do agree with other yelpers that it is a tad overpriced. I understand they get their food from nearby farms and what not, but I'm sure they are making a huge profit with their margins. Especially with being so close to two campuses, I think they should offer a student discount. This will probably boost their business. Overall, this is a great place to go to. It will keep you full for a while! I just can't imagine college students coming here on a regular basis. read more

I love Frita Batidos!! It's such a fun experience, and delicious. I wish they had more locations. It's great in the summer time to sit outside, and try their drinks! * Must try their churro it's absolutely amazing! Fresh with hint of cinnamon, orange and of course churro seasoning around! The texture is like a cake inside, and it's huge perfect to share. The Chocolate sauce is thick and rich. You can tell it was made from the best ingredients. read more

Frita Batidos - Cuban Near Me - Ann Arbor, Michigan

2 Words: Absolutely Delicious! I came here during their Happy Hour (4-6 PM Sunday - Thursday, or an hour before close nightly) where their Beef Frita is only $5 and fries are only $1.5. Now that's a phenomenal deal when typically a burger is $8-9 minimum. They have a variety of sides you can add to the burger for extra, such as muenster, avocado spread, sunny-side up egg, and much more! I asked for the meat to be cooked to a medium-rare and they did just that! Finally, I highly recommend ordering one of their Batidos to compliment your meal! I ordered the Passion Fruit flavor with no regrets whatsoever. The consistency is similar to a milkshake, but much easier to go down in my opinion. Come here for your next Cuban-inspired meal :) read more

Awesome! Definitely a change of pace from your average burger place. Interesting menu with a Cuban flair and spice. I made a not so great menu choice for me with the Inspired Cuban Combo..but the "light bright salad" was awesome and flavorful. My lunch mates thoroughly enjoyed their chorizo burgers with fries. It would have been better if the staff provided menu advice for first timers..but I will be better prepared next time! read more

This place has been around for a while and I've always loved it. I especially love sitting outside during the summer. I went today with 2 friends and my one friend was trying to grab a table in the shade while my other friend and I went in to order. The man standing outside apparently guarding the tables was rude to her (I didn't hear what happened, but she was upset) and we found out the protocol is to order your food then get a table. We didn't know. She didn't make a complaint, but someone must have heard her talking about it because the owner came up to us personally and apologized. Not only that, he refunded our entire bill, sent over one of their batidos (delicious milkshake-type drink) AND gave us a gift card. Totally not necessary but this was above and beyond. She felt bad after that (she really isn't a Karen!) and we enjoyed our meal. They got the black bean Fridas and I got the chorizo. We got the fries and loaded plantains to share. Everything was absolutely delicious. The service was absolutely impeccable (except for the snafoo) and all was right again. It was so kind of him to come up and make sure we had a great experience. It's obvious they value their customers. And the food is delicious. Highly recommend to anyone! Thank you Fridas! read more

Love this for a quick & delicious meal downtown! Often crowded and communal seating, but it's worth navigating for the wonderful food!

Very unique and I was slightly hesitant to try but I was proved very wrong! A group of friends and I went and we were all impressed with the taste and style of this food. Nobody had anything that they didn't love. The serving part was slightly off and seemingly flawed on busy nights, but it didn't matter when you took that first bite. read more

I want to say that as someone who grew up in Miami and lived there for over 25 years, I was a bit disappointed when I tried the food. If you're looking for Cuban good, this isn't your place. If you want something sort of fusion, sure, this is the place for you. We had the Chicken burger. It tasted good, however don't go in thinking it's authentic cuban. I was most excited to try their sweet plantains and it was a disappointment. Not a place to visit with kids or a large group. I do have to compliment their amazing service which was amazing. read more

Frita Batidos - Story - Cuban Near Me - Ann Arbor, Michigan

Great atmosphere, had the black bean frita and the a passion fruit batido, both were great! I recommend going here!

One of the best in Ann Arbor. If you're craving burgers but an are feeling too special for burgers this is the perfect place to go. Service is good and you get to pay up front so you're never held check hostage. The environment can be hectic and seating is always shared but I'm somehow always able to find peace there. If the previous 1,000 reviews didn't convince you, let me be the one... you need to make this your next dining destination, if it isn't your go to already. The beef frita is popular, and at 5 dollars for happy hour, winning 3 years in a row for best burger in metro Detroit. BUT The chorizo Frita is . I went with bacon (reallll thiccccc), egg, cheese, and salsa. Next time I'm dropping the salsa and bacon. Also got the best snack ever. Place is tight inside, but snag a spot at the communal picnic tables, grab a beer or wine or sangria or cocktail or splash of rum in your Batido and enjoy the time! The service here puts the cherry on top. They will give recommendations and guide you through the process. read more

Frita Batidos - Cuban Near Me - Ann Arbor, Michigan

We wiggled our way into this very busy restaurant on a Friday afternoon for our first visit. We had friends recommend Frita Batidos and a cuban sandwich sounded good. It was hard waiting for our order to come out due to the wonder smells wafting through the small space. We ordered the Inspired Cuban, pork sandwich and beef frita burger. I enjoy my cuban sandwiches with smoked pork. This sandwich had plain pork with the ham. Besides that shortcoming, I enjoyed the pickles, chipotle mayo and bun. Would I order it again or recommend it? Maybe. Personally, I would try the other sandwiches on yhe menu first. Grade: 3.5 The beef frita and pulled pork both earned 4 stars. They were devoured and enjoyed thoroughly. Both would be recommended. The garlic cilantro fries were 5 star wicked good. We really enjoyed these tasty treats and the delicious dip that came with the side. Excellent. 5 stars. This was a neat place and a good lunch. For someone who loves a cuban sandwich I was a little disappointed, but the other items were very good. We all thought Frita Batidos was a solid pick and worthy of a recommendation. read more

The food here is out of control. Being from Houston, I think we have a slew of great burger places, but this place may have just topped them all. I got the chorizo frita with cheese and bacon and I think I died from pure food joy. The burger comes with these delicious shoestring fries on top, making the whole experience the most divine and decadent thing ever. The service is quick and the staff is friendly. Been there around 12.3O pm with a friend from Spain and the place is packed (Weekend)as expected. Ordered a chorizo Frita with Sunny Side egg Up and with Small Garlic Fries($14.50). My friend got a chicken frita and beer. Honestly the chorizo lacked flavor and was just salty.Garlic Fries were ok too not that great. My friend liked his order though. The burger was super delicious! The ambiance was a little loud, but there was a lot of seating and the service was pretty fast considering how many people there were (it was crowded!) I would almost prefer the fries to be on the side of the burger rather than on top but it was still delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and the chicken burger was by far the best. read more

Just around the corner from my office is Frita Batidos. Of course, when I finally made my first visit it was on a weekend when I didn't have to be in Ann Arbor for work. Go figure.... I plan on correcting my lack of weekday visits asap. I met my friends early on a non-home football Sat before the lunch crowd so we didn't have to wait in line and there were plenty of tables. By the time we left, the line was long and the place was packed. The menu consists of "frita" which are burgers but not your ordinary every day burgers. The tasty burgers are made from spicy chorizo topped with shoestring fries. But wait...that's not all! You actually have several choices for fritas beyond the chorizo. You can choose from chicken, black bean, beef or fish. Then you have several choices for toppings in addition to the shoe string fries. I went with three of my friends so we ordered a few things to try and I also ordered my own beef burger with muenster, avocado spread, bacon, and a sunny side egg because I was hungry. As for the sides? Well....you could make a meal from just the sides. We ordered the loaded plantains and "the best snack ever" which really is the best snack ever. Frita Batidos has a liquor license so we ordered some Mojitos and the Cuba Libre. I also had to try the coconut cream batido. Add a little liquor to that batidos and you have a great summer drink because who doesn't love a boozy ice cream drink? We also tried the churros which were much larger than I expected. If you like casual places with great food, then Frita Batidos is the place for you...and me! read more

Premium pricing, big line, very tasty. Didn't get it but would look towards the chorizo frita since the beef was great and the chicken was more mediocre. Beef frita - 5/5. With an egg on it, special dish. Very simple and great combination. Passionfruit batidos - 4.5/5. Refreshing, light, tasty. Black bean frita - 4/5. Got it fully loaded without the guac. The cilantro-lime salsa is a solid medium. Really interesting range of textures and flavors. Banana chips - 4/5. Really tasty. Nice level of salt. A great snack while we drove home. read more

Very tasty food. A bit on the pricy side for street food, but it is also downtown Ann Arbor, so cannot complain too much. Biggest downside is how popular it is: usually quite the line and often a bit messy seating. read more

We've been here twice. Let me preface this by saying - this place is NOT family friendly. The first time we visited, it wasn't very busy and our son was still little. He was in an infant car seat, so we were able to use that, at least. We had to set the infant carrier on the floor for the meal because there are no high chairs and the tables have benches that don't fit an infant car seat. The ordering process our first time was difficult because we didn't know the lingo or what to do. It was an awkward experience. Major turn off. Fast forward - we're in Ann Arbor again for another of our son's surgeries. My husband wanted to try it again. I guess we forgot they don't have high chairs. It was packed on a Sunday evening. We sat down and waited for water to be delivered. We didn't get water until after our food arrived. We were so thirsty. The service wasn't good, again. Ordering process - awkward, again. And we had to hold our 28 pound son while we ate. It was such a rough meal. They had a man and a woman delivering food and they'd reach to set it down in front of you, so you'd go to take it from them since they were struggling/reaching, and then the man scolded people not to take things from their hands but to let them set it down. I watched this happen with multiple parties and it was awkward. If you must set the food down, then go about it a different way so you don't seem like a jerk when people try to help. I got the salad with a patty on top. It was okay. I really don't understand the hype behind these meat patties. I think things are pretty overrated here. Maybe the trendy vibe makes up for the dry meat? My husband's chorizo burger was alright. What we really actually came for were the plantains. THOSE are good. Overall, I don't recommend it. Especially if you're over the age of 25 and have kids. read more

A solid 2.5 star place. I don't think I'll be back, but I'm glad I tried it. Pros and cons listed below: Pros: - fresh food, inventive menu - flavorful drinks - clean with a good ambiance - exceptionally good for food sensitivities - the fries were very good! - burger/sandwich bun is great Cons: - the service is pretty slow. you order at the kiosk and after you're seated it's table service. from who? when? no one ever came to check on us or anything. - food is delivered by shouting names. it probably would be best to implement a number system. - it is "street food inspired" but it was the messiest burger i've ever had. there is no way you could walk around eating this. - the menu is not clear. 1-2-3 indicates there is a combo, it is extremely pricy to add any toppings, there are no pictures so you're not sure the size of anything - separate bar menu is confusing. also the drinks are not all listed on the menu. - sides vary widely in price and serving size - they were out of plantains :( not their fault but that sucks! - the seating was odd. giant tables which is good when you have a big party but hard with just 2. Overall, I don't think I'll be back unless it's for a quick side and drink. But I'm glad I tried it! read more

I visit for almost everything but the Fritas. They are too heavy. Churros with chocolate, ginger lime juice, and the tequila! If you like the spiciness of ginger and the tang of lime, you MUST TRY the ginger lime juice. It comes in a bag but they chill it on ice in a cup first - ask them to just leave it in the cup with the ice. It's a nice refreshing afternoon snack with a churro. The Best Snack Ever doesn't quite live up to it's name but it's good enough and surely a meal in a cup. Worth a try, but by itself, or it's just too much food. The place is always busy. Like their Facebook page for specials, notices and contests to win free tequila shots. (that was a nice happy hour) Oh and they have happy hour too. They have community tables, community water carafes, and you can play Dominos while you wait for your order. There are a couple tables outside, if you are lucky enough to snag one on a nice day. read more

We came here for lunch after it had been at least 4 years since I was last here. The coconut cream batido is the clear clear cut winner still thank god it's just as good now as I remembered it to be. I would come back here just to have that again, and to finally try the other batidos. We got the Parmesan fries and burger as well, and while they were good, they weren't memorable as before. Food took awhile to get after we ordered but the batido came out quick. It's picnic tables inside with open seating, and you sit with strangers which wasn't bad at all. read more
