You will get a feel for what it might have been like when Westinghouse and Telsa took strolls together in the Point Breeze neighborhood and see wonderful front yard gardens, and old style homes that are breathtaking. When you get back to your room you will appreciate this older three story house that provides comfort and a sense you have arrived home. Simplicity at its best. The home itself is a beautiful 1880 Victorian, which adds a lot of character to the experience. We stayed in the third-floor east view room and overall had a good stay. The space was clean, comfortable, and the bathroom was well kept. The only downside was the bed placement--it's positioned in the corner, and both of us ended up with a few bruises on our knees from the bed frame, which was a bit inconvenient. It's also pet-friendly, which was great for our dog. He did well overall, but being a senior, the stairs were a bit much for him after a while. Breakfast was simple with options like cereal, oatmeal, bananas, apples, tea, and coffee. It was fine, though we were expecting a more traditional bed-and-breakfast style meal with a bit more variety. If I owned the property, I'd love to add a front deck to make the outdoor space even more inviting.

You can smell the history! From the immense front porch with rockers and a swing to the claw tub to the mini farm with sheep and chickens one was surrounded with silence and thought - if these walls could talk!- Every nook and cranny filled with early 20th century furnishings and books! There is a fireplace for cool nights and one very small hidden tv which was turned on once in 3 days and that was to watch Little House on the Prairie! Breakfast each day? Delectable!

If I had written a review one of those times, it would've been probably a four star review. We just found that the staff was not very friendly for a facility that works with people going through difficult times. I was alone on this visit as my husband was admitted to the hospital and I was in the middle of discussions with the hospital regarding end of life care. I am diabetic and stress is a huge factor in my blood sugar levels. Check out time is 10:00 AM but I was having a hard time with nausea and dizzy spells due to my sugar levels. The front desk called 10:03 AM reminding me to check out. I told him that I was ill and would do my best to be out by 10:30AM. To make a very long story somewhat shorter, the front desk and the manager of the Neville House lied and to officials at the VA and we're just horrible. They were treating me like a hardened criminal because I was sick in my room and didn't get down to check out until 11:30 AM, partly because of the circus they were causing. They made me pay for an additional full night even though I had spoken with the cleaning lady on the way down and she said that she hadn't even been ready to get to my room. I paid and asked to speak to the manager and was given a business card. I saw in the lobby and was going to call the manager, but before I could do that the front desk attendant said she had her on the line. After a little go-around about how they are a nonprofit specifically created to help people in my situation and I wasn't causing them any extra cost or expense, she asked to speak to the front desk clerk and clearly told her to 'just get her out of there'. This woman'a salary is paid from a nonprofit organization that was designed to help patients and their families during troubling times. My husband is dying, I have a disease raging out-of-control. No one asked me if I was okay, no one asked me if I had proper medicine with me, no one asked me if I needed a doctor, no one asked me if I was able to drive. These people should be ashamed of themselves for how they treated me.

We were a little early for check-in and everyone was so welcoming while we waited. We stayed in a standard queen bed room, which had a fireplace and large closet and bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and everything was clean. We were there for a wedding and the venue coordinator, Zach, did a great job with making sure everything was set up. There was another party going on the evening we stayed the night and you could hear it clearly from our room. Thin walls and floors is the downside of staying in a historical building.

I stayed in one of the king bed rooms the night before a wedding and it was a wonderful experience. The room got a little cold at night, so we decided to sleep with the fireplace on. The fireplace in the hotel room was a nice, cozy touch. If you are handicapped, or have trouble with stairs, definitely let the hotel staff know. There is one elevator in the building that only goes to level 2. The venue coordinator for the wedding was also fantastic to work with!

What they have here is afternoon tea and I wish they would advertise it as such. You get a perfect 19th century setting, which makes for the perfect ambiance. For the tea, I had green tea and hot cinnamon, and both were excellent! The cinnamon takes the cake for best tea with excellent flavor, especially with the hints or orange. Our food was delectable. The pimento cheese sandwich and crostini were fantastic. The chicken salad stuffed gouger was divine. The scones were the best I've had. Crunchy on the outside, while warm and fluffy in the middle. I could have eaten ten of the cinnamon scones. Excellent cheesecake and cream puff. The star of the show was chocolate mousse on a pecan crust. Just yum!!! Phenomenal service, tea, and food made for a wonderful afternoon high tea!! We booked the lunch tour, which included a three course meal and visiting three of the houses: Baltur, Duncan, and Mantyla. The lunch is inside - not the treehouse dining - which was fine as it was pouring on the day we went! Service was very friendly and the food was beautiful, seasonal, and delicious - I'm going to be dreaming about that fig amuse bouche for a long time! Visitors only get to choose the main course, app and dessert are chef's choice though they do ask for food restrictions when you order. As for the tour, you ride a shuttle to each house. All three houses are different and beautiful in their own way. Baltur was not designed by FLW himself but an apprentice, and it's fascinating to see how he diverged from his teacher. Our tour guide added so much color and backstory to each stop and truly did a fantastic job. While we didn't stay overnight, that is an option and definitely something we're considering for the future!

Polymath Park is located near to the Seven Springs Ski Resort and can be a bit hard to find, it is located a bit off the main roads. Polymath Park has relocated 2 Frank Lloyd Wright houses and 2 houses by one of his apprentices. It is an interesting idea to help preserve architectural history in a unique way. Polymath Park offers tours of the houses and the option to do overnight stays. Because of the timing I did the 2 house Frank Lloyd Wright only tour. The tour is nicely run, you meet at the building by the entrance to the park and then they drive you around in a van. The 2 relocated houses are interesting. Mantyla is a dramatic Usonian house highlighted by the dramatic V overhang and the central kitchen area. Mantyla is a very nice example of how the Usonian houses each have their own personality. Polymath Park has done a great job of citing the house to reflect how it is designed to reflect its surroundings. The other house was the Duncan house which was one of the few Usonian houses to be prefabricated as an attempt to make Frank Lloyd Wright designs available to a larger number of people. While a bit generic, which is to be expected for a prefabricated house it is an interesting visit to see what Wright was attempting and how he still managed to infuse quite a bit of his design elements even into a more mass market house. Our guide was great, friendly and knowledgeable. The tour did not go into great detail on the designs of the houses but did a great job of giving the history of the houses and how they were relocated to Polymath Park. If you are interested in Frank Lloyd Wright Polymath Park is well worth a visit. It is great to see how they are working to preserve Wright's legacy in a unique way.
