The hotel occupies the 5th and 6th floors of a converted early 1900s landmark building just off the historic "Wall Street of Pittsburgh". Although the building is old, the common spaces and the rooms are modern and updated Good security as a downtown hotel, with the street level entrance requiring a keycard or the front desk has to buzz you in through a camera The rooms are nice and have a unique workout area in the room. There is a yoga mat, yoga blocks, yoga ball, and straps with handles connected to a vertical beam in front of a full length mirror. Haven't come across that before after staying at many hotels across the world There's still a nice on-site fitness room too and bar/restaurant. No pool though if you're looking for one Location was great, walking distance to so much fun - restaurants, bars, shopping, historic walks looking at the skyscrapers of the early 1900s, short distance to the rivers and bridges and the sports stadiums. I've really enjoyed my various stays at the EVEN Hotel in Midtown East Manhattan, so when I was looking for accommodations on my recent first-time visit to Pittsburgh, I went with the familiar and booked a three-night stay in a King Standard at $150.66 per night. Definitely cheaper than a similar size room in NYC, but that was my expectation even in a prime downtown location like this one. The cavernous lobby is up on the fifth floor, and my room was conveniently on the same floor. The room itself was spacious with the exercise bands and balance ball Ithat come with every EVEN room. Just don't ask me how many times I used them. I did manage to hit the lobby bar the night the Steelers were in town. The bartender kindly made my Espresso Martini with fresh hotel coffee. I'm not sure how booked the hotel was, but it was pretty quiet throughout my stay. I also took advantage of the $29-per-day parking structure across the street because I rented a Ford Escape SUV for my local travels. I'm not a winter-proofed driver, but I found it easy to access the garage. While I think the Midtown East hotel was better and less worn, I'd come back here should Pittsburgh call my name. From the moment we arrived, our stay was truly exceptional. We were warmly welcomed by Tammy and Krista, whose hospitality was some of the best I've experienced in a long time. They made sure we'd be comfortable, especially since there were three of us--and they even upgraded us to the beautiful Sunset Room. The room was spacious, spotless, and incredibly comfortable, with the added bonus of two bathrooms--a perfect setup for a girls' getaway! A hotel unlike any I've stayed at, as the lobby is on the 5th floor and all rooms located on the 5th & 6th floors. The reception desk staff were pleasant upon check in and check out. The hotel does not offer free parking but they can validate your parking for a specific garage and give you a rate of $29 per night. We did not know this but already parked in a lot which a lower rate. The rooms are clean and spacious, with high ceilings. Comfortable beds and seating. You are also provided exercise equipment in room. I did wake up in the middle of the night as someone was yelling outside for 15 minutes, so be aware if you do have a room located street side you may deal with some noise. This is not something the hotel can control, but just wanted to mention my experience with this. Breakfast is not included but can be if you pay extra. We did not. Overall a nice and clean modern hotel. The lobby areas and hallways were very spacious with lots of seating. They also had a game room and exercise room. read more

For $357 per night I am giving 3 stars. I Arrived at 12:00am and was welcomed by a smiling Lady, very gracious. The room was nice and had yoga mat and ball, very interesting. Negative points: the toilet seat, although clean, was left up. Another negative, the shower had a slimy floor and red/black mold was growing all around the trimmings... NOT COOL. At the end of the first day, the bed was not done, no lining in the garbage bins, but the bathroom was cleaned and fresh and clean towels were left. Some garbage bags were left on the corridors, and again NOT COOL. The second day the bed was done no garbage bags in the hallways, fresh towels in bathroom. read more

I'm surprised that there are so little 5-star reviews. I stayed here four nights recently and had a wonderful stay. People complaining that the hotel is hard to find and that the lobby is on the 5th floor? I don't understand the problem. It's clearly marked on the outside, and they have an actual video screen telling people to go to the 5th floor. The elevators are not slow and they worked fine for me. The place is spotless. Clean, natural light, huge lobby to hang out in, have a meal, drink, whatever, it's great. There's three different kinds of ice water dispensers in the lobby. The room was big, air conditioned, quiet, huge shower, flatscreen tv. There's an ice machine with filtered water in the hallway. And the location is great. So, ya, if you are looking for a hotel in downtown Pittsburgh, look no further. read more

Quick trip for two nights. The front desk person Kevin I believe his name was friendly, efficient and polite. I like the idea of safety from the rest of the public which doesn't allow just anyone to walk in. The layout is great. The fitness theme to work well for them. After staying here for the last two years when we come for Barrel and Flow my father and I won't be coming back. My dad always adds me to the reservation when we travel because we come from two different states. Once I arrived and tried to check in, a larger unfriendly man attempted to assist with my check in. He very quickly and rudely told me I wasn't on the reservation and wouldn't be allowed to check in. He also sternly told me that there was no way for my father to call, email, anything to get the confusion cleared up. My father attempted to add me again on the reservation via the IHG app and it was showing in the app that I was added, but the large unpleasant man said he couldn't go by the app and that it needed to show on his end on his computer. The rude man then explained that this happens a lot and there is nothing he can do. So due to technical issues with IHG i would be unable to check in. Beyond the fact that this man was rude and unhelpful, the bar area was infested with fruit flies. They even had an apple cider vinegar bowl on the end of the bar with tons of fruit flies already dead inside. After I realized this man and this location was not going to help or suggest any alternative we were able to cancel, get our rewards points back and booked at the Hotel Indigo instead. Daniel who worked at the front desk at this location was amazing! Helpful and quickly got us into a room after a long day of travel. Avoid the EVEN hotel. The staff is very off putting and the cleanliness level leaves much to be desired. read more

We were going to a Steelers game so opted to stay here since it was a little less expensive than the accommodations on the other side of the river - still pricey though. After navigating through the lower entrance and making your way to the 5th floor for registration, you are greeted with a really large, open lobby space. All the employees we encountered were very friendly and nice. While the room was spacious and there were some cool features like a color changing light highlighting the wall above the headboard, there were some oddities that weren't exactly our cup of tea. About 1/3 of the room is dedicated to workout gear - stationary bike, yoga ball and mat, resistance bands, etc. The only window in the room was in the far back of the workout "hall" and it faced a dreary, concrete courtyard that didn't seem to be part of the hotel so there was no natural light at all, making it hard to wake up naturally in the morning due to the constant darkness. There was no closet so no hangers or iron and a fridge but no microwave. The room was clean though. The breakfast was a small menu served in the lobby and while there were some trendier options like avocado toast, really no basic options like eggs and bacon. We ordered one avocado toast and after 45 minutes, had to cancel our order (along with another table) since we were on our way to the game. There were maybe two other tables waiting for their food too so it didn't seem overly busy that breakfast should take that long. There was a coffee maker in the room but if you helped yourself to the basic drip coffee downstairs, it was $3 for a small cup. The location is in downtown Pittsburgh so you could walk to some areas of interest, even to the stadium if you were up for a longer walk but I'm not so sure I'd want to be walking around the hotel area at night. Overall, a cool vibe in some aspects, just not totally our vibe. Not sure I'd stay there again, especially for that price. Maybe if we were into working out, I'd feel differently. read more

the hotel is interestingly appointed. big lobby lots of places to hang out. spacious as heck. friendly staff. we had a couple of good hours at the bar last night. the elevators are weird. very quiet. one of two always not working. the lobby is not on street level (L) but on floor 5. the hotel is o two levels only. take the stars to floor 6 in the middle of the lobby the rooms are spacious and have work out equipment. very handy. beds comfy. housekeeping forgot to fill the soaps which was very very inconvenient while in the shower! liberal outlets was excellent. and, of course the location in pittsburgh is brilliant. right smack near market square and a short 10 min walk to the cultural district - probably 20 min to PNC Park. all flat or nearly so. parking is $29 if u pay at the hotel; $28 if you pay at the garage across the street. weird. the hotel should charge $15!!!! other parking would be on street. all things considered we'd come back. the rating is a 4 because of the elevator slowness and outage; and housekeeping not paying attention. the problem with a small thing like no soap is ... it reflects on wider aspects of the whole room! you wonder 'what else might be unclean or broken but look okay?' read more

My interest was piqued when they said they were going to have a hotel in the former Kaufman's. So much so that on a recent travel fest I had I decided instead of heading home I would crash here for the night. As people have said, parking is atrocious. You will have to find yourself a spot in one of the many parking garages around. Do yourself a favor and find a spot before showing up here. That may end up saving your a few bucks and find the closest spot you can get. Getting here currently is a bit of a mess. They are doing some major renovations to the street level of the building and it makes it look like a less than desirable area to be in. It doesn't help that the entrance to the hotel is towards the back of the building near the alley. It also doesn't help that even though you are finally inside that you are still not to the hotel. You take the elevators up to the lobby/hotel. It's a lot, and feels unnecessary, especially since all you want to do is relax for the rest of the day. The day that I arrived, the air conditioning was out in the entrance area and that was not pleasant. Once in the lobby area check in went pretty smooth. Give a little information, pay, and head to your room. The lobby area looks great, giving you an atrium feel with the nice wide open area to meet up. There is a restaurant in this area, but I don't think it was open while I was staying here. Now, to get to your room, that is not fun. If your room is not close to the lobby area, you are in for a walk. Especially now since they have in effect pandemic protocols. That means all foot traffic is to go one way. What would usually be an open loop they have it shut off to only enter in one direction. Let me tell you something, when you have a room number that is towards the end of the floor, you definitely have a long, long walk ahead of you. Not to mention if you need to run out for food or an item you forgot, you should make sure that you have everything you need. I loved the room, it was quite spacious. I had a room that faced inward to the courtyard area. These windows are huge, so if you don't want the rest of the hotel, and residents from the floors above, to see your every move, I suggest closing the curtains. I'm not very familiar with the EVEN brand hotels so walking in was a bit of a surprise to see workout equipment at the ready. But I did not take part in any of that. After a long day of travel I just wanted to relax. The bed was comfortable. They could have paid attention to the lights in the room as a few of the fixtures had burned out lightbulbs. But I did like the light behind the headboard that you could use to help you feel at ease. Although if you put it on alternating you get a club feel. If you are looking for a quick meal, be prepared to walk a bit. Like I said before, the restaurant inside was not open when I was here. Most other places nearby close at an early hour on a Sunday. Overall, not a bad experience, but I would probably not use this as my first choice for an overnight stay again. read more

Ok so having a hotel room that is basically a personal gym with a bed in it is a thing. We were staying one night in Pittsburgh as our flight got in too late to travel to our final destination. When we walked into our room we first thought that they gave us the key to the gym and not our room. As we walked in we saw that it was indeed our room. We really cannot complain as the room was clean and comfortable. The fun part was wasted on us though. Worst hotel check-in experience I've ever had in my life! There is literally no ground entrance for this hotel itself which causes a lot of the confusion. We called numerous times with zero answer. All the doors we tried were locked and even after someone was coming out and we walked in the elevator didn't work. Smdh! Priceline called them numerous times too with zero answer. We were basically stuck outside in the rain with no way of entering the building at 9 pm due it's confusing nature and layout. I ended up having a horrible time trying to find another place to stay that night due to the time and most of the places in the city being booked solid. I wouldn't stay here now for free and I'll make sure everyone I speak to never does either. Nobody from the hotel even had the decency to ever call back and even after calling corporate they acted sympathetic and gave me a confirmation number because someone from this hotel management I suppose was supposed to get ahold of me about a refund and what happened, but nope! I couldn't imagine being a woman and having to deal with this alone on dark streets at night with no signage for the hotel itself. Wow! What a joke! Zero stars. read more

A newer hotel with a millennial vibe! I booked this hotel online and arrived to the hotel within 15 minutes of making the reservation. The room was ready and there were zero hiccups. Located on the 5/6th floor of the Kaufman's building. You enter the building on the ground level, but have to take the elevator to the 5th floor to check-in. The hotel is clean and staff is friendly. All of the room numbers are even numbers - a fun little touch. There's a room with ping pong table and small gym. My room was clean with a small "gym-style" area. The yoga mat and resistance bands were a unique touch. For being a newer hotel it showed a tad bit of wear - at least more than I expected. Overall it was a nice stay! I parked in the garage across the street, which was convenient considering they do not have parking at the hotel. read more

Overall this hotel is good and I liked staying here. The important things they do well and the things that are bad that can be ignored depending on your trip objectives. EDIT: I initially gave this hotel a 3 star review, but I am editing it to give it a one star. Last night, THREE WEEKS AFTER MY STAY, I got a random charge for on my account. I called to resolve it and was told, after sitting on hold for twenty minutes, that the night auditors caught it that I was not charged for parking. What. the. heck. Then the person proceeded to tell me, "Well, I was not the one who checked you out." No, you weren't but frankly.... I recognize her voice, and she was the one who checked me in and she was rude and incompetent then. This is not a good hotel. Don't give them your credit card information. Pros: The room was good and clean and the workout equipment is kind of fun. The mood lighting in the room was good. It is conveniently located near a lot of things in a walkable part of Pittsburgh. Cons: Parking is very expensive and is across the street in a parking garage not owned by hotel. Customer service was overall just crappy. The person checking me in was supposed to send me some code to get me into and out of the parking garage, but never sent it. I had to go back for it hours later. There are reviews in here prior about the breakfast taking forever, being a problem. Well, they seem to have shifted to a different model to change that. When we were staying here in January 2023, it was a breakfast buffet. In January, it was $12 per person and included a beverage from the "market." The coffee is some machine that fresh grounds from beans. Something is off in the settings on that machine. Every cup was too strong to be drinkable, and I like a strong cup of coffee, but literally everyone was talking about how strong it was. Coffee was not good. Get juice or something. The eggs were rubbery and didn't taste at all like eggs. They tasted like.... tofu? Now, the customer service issue with breakfast..... The second morning, breakfast supposedly starts at 7:00am. At 7:05am, we were standing at the stand where we paid for breakfast the prior day and there was a guy running around starting to get the buffet ready (a blond guy in a blue sports sweatshirt, can't remember the team, he looked college age), and we were just standing there patiently waiting for him to be ready, and after a few minutes, he looks at us all irritated and goes, "If you need to check out or something, they can help you at the front desk!" Uh.... seriously? We aren't idiots. We didn't walk past the front desk and into the dining area to check out. We are clearly there for breakfast. If you aren't ready, just say about how long it will be. We left and as we walked past the front desk to the elevator to go elsewhere to find food, the front desk was like, "Did you need something?" Um, seriously? I am just baffled by them in general. The bedding in the room is not warm enough. The coffee maker/amenities station in our bedroom was not very well stocked. Example: There were 3 k-cup pods, but only 2 sugars and nothing to stir it with. read more

Hotel was nothing like the ads suggested. It was not clean. Only 3 of the outlets in the room were operational. After a full day of traveling and being out, coming back to our room to find out that the HDMI cord on the TV was broken. Had to call front desk 3 times to get an answer. Once they answered, the lady was incredibly rude, promised me that it would take a little bit but she would get us a new cord to continue our stay right before she hung up in an incredibly rude way. She NEVER showed up with another cord yet there was a note on the desk when I checked out. On top of that, The hotel was completely out of paper towels, hand sanitizer, water and the amenities were incredibly sub par. I plan on coming back to Pittsburgh quite often, but will never be staying here again. If you're ready this, I suggest finding somewhere else to stay. read more

Called hotel and was told a manager would call me back within the hour. Five hours later, I called back and left voicemail. Next day, no return call again. Had to file dispute with bank. We booked the hotel through Booking.com, which required us to pay the full price of $1,530.43 for eight nights beforehand. However, the night we arrived at the hotel, they again charged us $1,694.31 for the same room. We had to physically go to the front desk several times to ensure we were appropriately charged only once. Yet, when we checked out after our stay, the hotel, FOR THE SECOND TIME, overcharged us $1,563.57 without informing us. We had to call the IHG group for them to contact EVEN hotel, and we were only refunded $1,184.20 in the end. In addition, we requested a rollable bed to be sent to our King room for the last two nights of our stay, and we both asked the front desk and called the hotel (a total of 5 times), and every time they promised to send the bed, it was never sent. Whenever a new person was at the front desk, we had to explain the whole situation again, and nothing was resolved. Overall it has been a very bad experience of us being overcharged multiple times and not fulfilling their promises. read more

During January that can be a very cold walk to the square. They have a small breakfast area with some breakfast options. Not the biggest menu options. One thing we took advantage of was the breakfast restaurant right next door. The elevators were pretty fast and the hallways were big and not too crammed. I could walk to other rooms without having any security concerns. The staff was okay and pleasant. I wish there was a valet but it is more of a boutique hotel experience. It's an old shopping store converted to a hotel. Unique to say the least. Parking is across the street so be prepared for a little walk to your vehicle. read more

This was the best night sleep we've had in a city bar none! We slept almost 9 hours straight without waking to city noise, elevators, or other guests. Our room was just around the corner from the front desk/lobby and elevators so I anticipated at least a struggle to fall asleep, but the bed was so comfortable and the room super dark that I was out like a light. The bed is firm but not to firm. You know a bed for everyone is like the Goldilocks story so try Even Hotel out for yourself! I can tell you my hubs always brings his own pillow unless we're traveling by plane, but since we were just in town for 1 night he decided to leave his pillow at home and he must have told me at least 3 times this is his new favorite hotel in Pitt. We walked to PPG Paints Arena from the hotel. It's a long uphill distance that my body struggled with but I survived ;) it. Even Hotel is a hotel for health. Peaceful lighting options, exercise in your room, and healthy snacks to purchase all round out the amenities. Due to current health physical limitations and only staying for 1 night, we didn't use the equipment available but it all looked brand new. Very well maintained and we did catch part of a fitness video on the available exercise channels so I can tell you it was easy to follow & great for all levels. If my hips hadn't been having issues I would have given it a try. Kevin at the front desk is super friendly & helpful. The parking garage is just across the street & if you show them your ticket at check-in you'll get free in & out privileges which is HUGE if you're looking to do touristy things around the city, but not necessary if you're just going out for food. There are a ton of great places to eat within walking distance. So, why did I rate a 4 & not a 5? No company or person is perfect so a 5 from me is difficult to get, but Even hotel Downtown Pittsburgh is close! Minor things: the hair dryer chord was not long enough to dry my hair in front of the mirror. I couldn't see what crazy ways my curls were probably going so I gave up and put a hat on. There was a hair on the shower wall and our shower wall could use recalking, but the shower was luxury! Perfect temp, perfect pressure. We come to Pittsburgh often & have missed our city since public health issues kept us away. Loved the room, wasn't happy with everything else. -location was good but entrance was confusing and sketchy. Upon arrival, orienting yourself to the hotel takes some time as lobby is on the 5th floor. -parking garage didn't feel very safe as it didn't have many entrances/exits. Did have to pay to park. -the housekeeping is set up in very weird system. Requested that our room be cleaned and given fresh towels but when we called the lobby, we were told to fill out the house keeping request card in the lobby. Filled out the card both full days of our visit and housekeeping did not visit either day. -room was very spacious, with a beautiful view and clean upon arrival. We loved the room but given the odd layout and entrance of the hotel, our requests being ignored, and outside the hotel being quite sketchy, we would not stay again. read more

Game room, gym, little convenient store for small snacks and drinks. Breakfast menu is small but perfect portions. I would for sure stay here again. They offer a parking lot across the street for $25 a day with in and out privileges. It's downtown so it's expected. Only things that I would say to improve is the cable provider, my tv didn't work because they have Direct TV & that's always acting up lol.
