You can smell the history! From the immense front porch with rockers and a swing to the claw tub to the mini farm with sheep and chickens one was surrounded with silence and thought - if these walls could talk!- Every nook and cranny filled with early 20th century furnishings and books! There is a fireplace for cool nights and one very small hidden tv which was turned on once in 3 days and that was to watch Little House on the Prairie! Breakfast each day? Delectable!

What they have here is afternoon tea and I wish they would advertise it as such. Aside from that pet peeve of mine, using the wrong terminology, it's a nice spot and I would recommend it if you're in the area.

You get a perfect 19th century setting, which makes for the perfect ambiance. For the tea, I had green tea and hot cinnamon, and both were excellent! The cinnamon takes the cake for best tea with excellent flavor, especially with the hints or orange. Our food was delectable. The pimento cheese sandwich and crostini were fantastic. The chicken salad stuffed gouger was divine. The scones were the best I've had. Crunchy on the outside, while warm and fluffy in the middle. I could have eaten ten of the cinnamon scones. Excellent cheesecake and cream puff. The star of the show was chocolate mousse on a pecan crust. Just yum!!! Phenomenal service, tea, and food made for a wonderful afternoon high tea!! We were a little early for check-in and everyone was so welcoming while we waited. We stayed in a standard queen bed room, which had a fireplace and large closet and bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and everything was clean. We were there for a wedding and the venue coordinator, Zach, did a great job with making sure everything was set up. There was another party going on the evening we stayed the night and you could hear it clearly from our room. Thin walls and floors is the downside of staying in a historical building.

You won't have to walk up 30 plus stairsteps (only four or five here) to arrive to the front door of your accommodations like many of the surrounding homes throughout the area. You will get a feel for what it might have been like when Westinghouse and Telsa took strolls together in the Point Breeze neighborhood and see wonderful front yard gardens, and old style homes that are breathtaking. When you get back to your room you will appreciate this older three story house that provides comfort and a sense you have arrived home. Simplicity at its best.
