What a beautiful, interesting, large, and well-stocked library. As a retired librarian, I've made…read morea habit of checking out libraries wherever I go. This one was a shear delight. It was a very busy place, on a hot day, with many, many patrons studying, reading, hanging out. It is one branch of the vast 35-branch Riverside County Public Library system. Ample parking, the parking slips butt up against a thoughtfully designed walkway with signage telling you about the history of Temecula. Once inside the library, there is a beautiful mosaic-mural depicting sea-to-outer space, perhaps a nod to what all is in store for the curious patron. The Children's Area is decorated with dozens of stuffed animals atop the book cases. There are painting on the walls. Lots of visual stimulation. But, if you need some calm, further in the library, there is a whole window wall with comfortable seating overlooking a vast valley. Almost every shelf had an intriguing book on display front facing. Books that my library in San Diego does not own...yet. If it weren't so far from my home, I would get a library card (yes, with a CA id, this is possible, and free), and check out some of those great books.

Inside and outside looks beautiful. The outside looks small but its grand inside. One side of…read morethe library clear walls over looking a very nice view of a park and trees. They have newspapers and magazines which I havent seen or notice in years. There used to be news stands all over. Now I dont think they are around just like pay phones. Have a nice day!

Library #7. This is another location that is inland but it is open on Sunday and that was the…read morecriteria I was working with. This location is in a shopping plaza (dollar tree nearby) next to a police station. Staff was not super helpful. When asking how we got cards were directed to a computer, then given cards. Kidlet was mad they go the kiddie card (person did not ask) and so they didn't get a little library card also. This location is not very big and is a kind of hodge podge. It is one big open room that they tried to section off but it is mostly just grouped. They had a decent area for teens and the one really cool feature this library had that I had not seen anywhere else is on the spines of the books (in the kids section at least) they had a sticker that gave you a clue as to the genre of book. So a ghost for spooky, a unicorn for fantasy, a looking glass for mystery. Kidlet wanted help finding "spooky" books and it was easy to do a quick scan of the shelves to help figure that out. Restrooms are locked and need a key. Like many libraries there is a security guard in there. The one here was not in the front but was siting near a screen where you could look up books and was very intrusive. Overall not my favorite experience and will try and head to the main library for Oceanside which is closer to the freeway.
