I saw a tik tok that you can check out a State Park Parking Pass at a public library. I have taken up hiking near Torrey Pines and parking was $20 for the day. So happy to see this was an option for me. Got my library card and borrowed a parking pass! You can rent it for 3 weeks, you can ReRent it for an additional 3 weeks unless someone is on a waiting list for it. Great customer service ! Easy,convenient and free!! read more

Lots of homeless unfortunately because it's such a cute place, great books and kids area, walked in and there was about 5. I usually don't mind if they just need somewhere to be. But there was one lady cleaning herself with wipes in very private areas in front of everyone. Security didn't even do anything so not sure why they are there. read more

Small library with a confusing layout. I used to work at the Downtown Central library in SD when it was located across the street from the post office. I always felt things were a lot more readily labeled there. Anyhow, I wanted to see if my daughter was into checking out books but she was far too much distracted by the fun toys they had. They had a little puppet show area, a toy farm, a little play house, a mini pretend play store, a mini mini kitchen (super small), puzzles, duplos, computers, etc. My daughter played with it all- and for quite a bit. It was hard to get her to leave. I only wish it opened a little earlier. It was a nice, free thing to do that is local and could provide some nice a/c. Libraries are great for the community. I look forward to visiting again for some of the children's activities and events they hold here. read more

This library has a great, great selection of materials to decide from...I would never come/visit this library with my children as there is a very suspicious person that is employed at this location. I planned on bringing my male child who is training to be a MCP to this location and utilize the new children's programs and applications installed upon the children's desktop. Unfortunately, I was followed by this employee and verbally harassed for multiple minutes at a time. I was informed by a female staff member that it was the duty of the parent to supervise their children while in this library. As someone training to become an MCP, I find it absolutely terrifying at the idea of having my children unattended in this library location while this person is employed. I would like a full investigation opened upon this individual as he does not seem to be fit to be around minors. I also was not able to successfully finish exploring the new children's applications upon the desktops. I am not sure if this employee does or does not have a technical background, but they displayed very poor customer service skills as well as social skills. I will be reaching out to the authorities upon my next unpleasant encounter in the children's section with this employee. I would also like to suggest extending the library time to more than 60 mins per day as I am an Information Technology student and require an extended amount of time to thoroughly review material. read more

I go here for my daughter's storytime and it never fails to amaze me. She always has so much fun and they are so kind and patient with the kids plus it has a great outside book and play area for the kids while they wait for storytime. Definitely recommend for the little ones and they divide the age groups incase you're hesitant! read more

The library is clean, and spacious. It offers programs for kids, which I find wonderful. The help? OK, I mean, what friendly help? None, the many times I have been in. Oh, I stand corrected. One of the times while waiting for the library to open, the guy collecting the books at the outdoor bins, was actually friendly! Thank goodness they have self-checkout you don't have to deal with unfriendly service at a public library. Yes, I would come back and thank goodness I only have to deal with the books. read more

According to the librarian, this is part of Oceanside city library. The main library located in downtown Oceanside. They are not in SD County system. Mission Branch is like a neighborhood library. I noticed there were plenty of books, couple dozens of different magazines, private study room, a large corner for children..... I spent half of day sitting on chair reading in this quiet, comfy environment. Nice!! read more

I used to come to this library a lot to get books, but I switched to the Fallbrook Library because I realized that this library is a little bit weird. There are some interesting people that hang out around here. They have friendly workers and everything, but there's just a really weird vibe with this place. I love their website, as I can view their inventory of books and place a hold on items that they currently do not have (as it is currently checked out to someone else). I was able to get all the books I currently have from them via this method. What's awesome also is that once they have that book ready, all you have to do is walk in, and they'll have the book ready for you right at the book carts in front of the front desk. Just search for your last name taped to the book. Workers at this library are very helpful and polite. One lady walked me through the whole self-checkout machine as she could see I was a total noob at this Oceanside PL. Thanks lady!! Today's experience definitely topped it from the last time, which pretty much sucked @$$ to say the least. Highly recommend this branch and will return because not only is it a great library, but it is the only one very close to my residence. P.S. I still HATE the hours. read more

I just needed a place to stop and work. The wifi is great as it's one of the few libraries where I can send outgoing mail to my SMTP server. Could be a little larger, but it's easy to find in the shopping mall because they have big letters that say LIBRARY pointing to the bldg. The staff was nice in helping me find a seat, and electricity seems plentiful. The mall is convenient too. read more

This is the best little branch of a local library I've ever lived so close to! They're very community minded, and they've been at the college at many events, most recently the Girl Tech STEM Conference, where they displayed two brand new 3D printers they just acquired through a special grant, as well as a few little rolling robots that are controlled using a tablet. It was hysterical watching them roll around, and I think some of the parents were having more fun than the kids at the school were! They were pretty amazing, and so was the librarian that came out to demonstrate the new additions, which will be located at both this local beach as well as the main branch off North Coast Highway. They were especially good with my younger son, who attended their event to display the 3D printers here at the local branch, and they let him make a little Hot Wheel car conector. It was really special to him, and the fact that they chose him really meant a great deal to him. He treasures the little item he got to "invent" and then literally watch get created right in front of him! The fact that the local library is so community oriented is great, and they always have the coolest events to take your kids to. Libraries aren't all about reading anymore - they're about holistic learning, and that's really great, considering we are moving more toward technology lately! They also have computers at every branch (not so many at the little local one, but plenty for the small amount of people they get in there!) They also have bilingual literature in both English and Spanish, and if you're running behind schedule- they have a convenient book drop off location right outside the door. It's the best! They always bring the mobile library bus - autobús de biblioteca móvil...to every event that we have at the college for families, and they are always driving it into the neighborhoods where people Au not be able to get out and make it to the actual library proper. I love that, and it's just another one of the incredible family and community services that our local library provides for Oceanside residents! We love the library...GI get yourself a free card. It's quality time you can spend with your child doing something together that is also a learning experience. Double win! Thank you to the entire staff of both branches - I haven't forgotten about you, Main Branch - I'll have to wait until later to write it though...it's finals week and I'm done with my break! Check out what the local library has to offer- I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the activities they're offering in all of their branches...but don't take my word for it - go see for yourself!!! read more

What a great source for learning at all ages! My daughter was able to find lots of great books for her project while my 21 month old niece had a huge variety of clean, creative, and fun learning stations. My 3-yr old and I went here on a Monday and it wasn't that crowded. My little one loved all the toys in the play area, plus all the books we read during our stay. This library is just a small one, compared to other public libraries, but definitely cozy and a place I would take my little one for some quality reading time. read more

The positives are that the facility is of very good quality, as well as a solid selection of literary materials. The negatives are that the computers are rather antiquated: loading seems to be slow. Another negative is that they are closed on Saturday. Nonetheless, this branch does serve its purpose. read more

Don't come here if you want some quiet time. It's almost impossible to study in here. It's the parents that let their children roam around being loud And their loud squeaky replies carrying the books! It's really distracting. Libraries are SUPPOSED to be quiet. It's annoying. If you're trying to find a study spot don't come here. Find another library. This one won't let you get any work done. read more

This is the library I always go to for my books because of the closeness, I have never been to the Civic Center Branch. But I do like this one, it is clean, has a good assortment of books and what they don't have you can request online and have it there in a couple days to a week. Lots of computers and a printer.. I hear they have programs and stuff so that's good but I haven't been involved. The staff is hit or miss sadly, some helpful and friendly and some that are just unhelpful and don't care what you want, but for the most part it is a good library. read more

Today was the worst experience I have had at this library. I was lectured by one of the librarians because my son touched her computer. There are multiple computers scattered around the room to look up books as well as computers for the kids to use. He didn't know he wasn't allowed to touch that one. I was helping him find books for a school project when I was approached by the staff member, asking if I was the parent. She continued to censure me about him using her computer and threatened to revoke his library access if he did it again. I apologized to her for his actions but feel her attitude was out of line. He didn't know he was doing anything wrong and he is able to understand if she told him that her computer was not for public use. I appreciate notice of his error but threatening to revoke a little kid's access to a public library over a minor misunderstanding is unacceptable. read more
