Frida's is one of the very few restaurants that I dined at while staying at The Grand Mayan. Why stay at the resort when you can venture out for an authentic cultural dining experience outside of the hotel?
The venue, like the rest of the resort, is elegant, but casual, and very clean. Much more sophisticated than a cantina, every table welcomes their customers with white tablecloths and and wine glasses.
Congruent with the ambiance, the servers conduct themselves with polite professionalism and attentiveness. You will definitely be tended to with the utmost care and attention while dining here.
The menu offers tacos, enchiladas, and other traditional Mexican delights with a modern twist. I ordered the GARLIC MOJO SHRIMPS, which wasn't bad, but not anything to rave about - queria mas sabor. Perhaps I am just a traditionalist and not a fan of modern Mexican cuisine? I honestly feel like I would have enjoyed the same dish, but richer in flavor, at a hole-in-the-wall restaurant outside of the resort and at a much cheaper price. I guess I paid for the convenience (It was 10:30 PM and it would have taken us some time to leave the resort and go back into town).
In sum, if you are at the resort and going to stay in for the night, Frida's is a convenient choice. You will enjoy a relaxing dinner with great service; however, the experience may leave you hambriento de una experiencia mexicana mas autentica o con mas sabor. read more
