January 26/2026: Lunch w Tony Kelly. This was absolutely delicious! We started with the guacamole & chips with their house made hot sauces. The mild sauce had almost zero taste but the hot one was delicious. I mixed it with the house made guacamole & it made the guac even more delicious! My main was the chicken tacos. They were fantastic too! Came with refried beans & rice. Once all components were mixed together the just blended & were delicious. The owner came to our table & mentioned that they have a 5 hour pork which we will go back to try. I don't take pics but I should have. We started with an order of guacamole and pico de gallo - both were fresh and when we finished our chips they gave us extra. We enjoyed the guacamole so much that we ordered a second helping. It was definitely fresh made to order. We enjoyed our lunch of Chile Rell Queso, Bistek Encub, Quesadillas Pollo, Fajita Pollo with Queso. When you order the lunch special, you get an amazing bowl of soup with it - we all tasted the 1 bowl and wished we all had a bowl. We had a thoroughly enjoyable and authentic lunch! Not crowded for lunch. The staff is attentive and friendly. Seating - maybe a dozen tables with half inside and half outside - all tables covered and the inside is open to the outdoor seating. I am in PDC for a wedding this weekend and the guests have been traveling around as a group, we decided to go to the town of PDC today and we stopped here for lunch. I think they might have two different menus, ours was mostly in English and the prices might have been higher. Everything we ordered here was excellent. Be aware that the green sauce they serve with the chips is pretty spicy, at least for me who has no spice tolerance, LOL. The red sauce was very good. We had an order of guacamole and that was great, I had the chicken flautas which came topped with avocado slices and tomatoes, and my husband had the marinated pork tacos. A bunch of people in our group shared the tacos and I have to say that the cocinero (?) tacos were the best. They do take American dollars here, the exchange rate right now is like 20 pesos to $1. They also have nice and clean bathrooms, when I've traveled internationally before sometimes it's hard to find a bathroom so I was glad for that. Waitservice was fast and friendly as well. I would definitely come back here again when in PDC. read more

Hubby and I have decided to do a bit of a chile en nogada tour this year and our first stop was Pik Nik - Mexican Restaurant last night. The chile was very tasty. I really enjoyed the filling and the sweet, but not too sweet, sauce, although I would have liked it served hotter temperature wise. However, the star of the night for me was our other dish, the chicken burrito. Easily the best burrito I've had in PDC and we LOVED the flavor and cook of the chicken-Hubby really wants the recipe. Margaritas were also quite good. Service was fantastic and the place itself is super cute. Overall, we are more than happy with our first chile en nogada this year, and we definitely want to return to try more of the menu...maybe breakfast next time. read more

My family and I live very close to this restaurant and decided to stop in for dinner after taking our kids to play at the park. The service and atmosphere were incredible. I had the Chiles en Nogada which is only available around this time of year and it was so flavorful! I also had a margarita which is the best one I've had in Mexico so far. My husband had the cheese enchiladas with red sauce and said they were the best enchiladas he's ever had in a restaurant. He usually doesn't like refried beans, but he ate the whole serving that came with his enchiladas as well as the rice. My kids shared a quesadilla appetizer and loved their lemonades. We will definitely be back to try the breakfast menu and more of their dishes. I highly recommend this place to locals and tourists. read more

The short version: great food, great service, very reasonably priced. Cash only. Street parking nearby. One of the issues with a lot of restaurants in the PDC area especially near the tourist areas is that the food is either overpriced, not very good, or both. This restaurant is none of those things. The food is excellent and priced very well. Very authentic tasting. They serve from breakfast at 730 am until 930/10 at night for dinner. One day we came for breakfast and then later for dinner. Both meals were needless to say excellent. My favorite for breakfast is chilaquiles. They make one of my absolute favorite version. Red sauce that wasn't too spicy and not very sour, literally perfect. For dinner the cochinita pibil was amazing. So tender I didn't even use a knife just a fork. The tortilla soup also excellent and very hot which is a must for soup! The servers don't speak that much English but that's ok, use Google translate. They have outdoor dining and indoor dining. Worth the walk from the beach area. El fogon used to be my favorite restaurant in pdc...but this one might have just taken that title away from them. And without the crazy long line and loud atmosphere like over at el fogon. Anyways highly recommended. read more

I first tried this restaurant two years ago when they were in a different location. The decorations in this restaurant are really nice and colorful. I ordered a cappuccino because I was needed some caffeine, and it was pretty good as cappuccinos can be. I then ordered the red sauce chicken chilaquiles. I LOVE chilaquiles and these were pretty good! They weren't very spicy which is good (they brought a sauce that added a little spice). Additionally, the staff was really nice. We ended up having a 15 minute conversation with one of the staff members about central Mexico (since that's where we're from). Definitely recommend trying out this place. Glad to say I've had a good experience both times I've been. read more

Very cozy, colorful little cafe with an affordable breakfast packet. The beautiful wooden patio and leafy adornments really hammered home that tropical feel you're seeking whilst in the area. Notably, it wasn't super crowded at prime breakfast/brunch time on a Sunday. Perhaps being off the main drag in PDC helped.. that being said the prices aren't going to be as jacked up as tourist spots on the strip. Fantastic service, good food, what's not to like? Javani was awesome and we really enjoyed our time there. It was really warm and humid but they had some fans out to help cool their customers down. Also, it had been raining and my girlfriend was getting bit by mosquitos but they offered use of their personal can of Off bug spray that we both were able to use. I had cheese enchiladas with a creamy green sauce and my girlfriend had chicken molé, plus we each had a beer (Victoria brand). We also ordered bottled waters and they gave us a cup with ice to pour it over. Everything was good and we are planning on trying to make it back for breakfast before we head out of town. A little off of Quinta Avenidabut worth the walk to save on price and get some good food and service. I would say my least favorite was the chips and salsa but that's just because some of the chips were a little stale (hard not to be with all the humidity) and I prefer more of a salsa Fresca but it was still decent. First note: they've moved. Hopefully the yelp location will be updated soon. The current location is about 7 or 8 blocks away from the old one. They're now at Calle 10 Between Av. 20 & 25. Also, they open for breakfast around 7:30, not 9 as yelp says as of the time of this review. As for the good stuff. The food is great and so is the atmosphere and service. We went for breakfast and got a breakfast burrito, waffles, and scrambled eggs with mushrooms and spinach. All were freshly made and very tasty. We also got a nice fruit plate. My daughter is insisting that I highlight the waffles, which she found had just the right amount of crispness and she liked the syrup and fruit served on top of them. We haven't tried their lunch or dinner but I'm sure those are good, too. Bonus: The bathrooms are very clean. Highly recommend. read more

We went here for lunch because we were craving tacos, freshly squeezed juice, and chilaquiles. I am torn with my rating. The food was good, but they only take cash and there is no AC. It is also impossible to get an ice cold bottle of water because they do not refrigerate them! Instead, they serve their water with a cup of ice on the side. But, since it's so hot outside, the ice melts almost instantly upon arriving to the table and never actually chills the water enough to be enjoyable. The saving grace for this place is their low prices and delicious green chilaquiles. Regarding the food: We ordered chips and salsa, the Hanger steak tacos, green chilaquiles with chicken, orange juice, and mango juice. Everything was fresh, cooked to order, and made with quality products. But folks in my party of four did not enjoy some of the food. The chips and salsa was interestingly different, but I probably would not order it again. It came with three different salsa: a red, a green, and a green spicy salsa. The red salsa was warm and tasted like tomato soup. The green salsa was the best of the three. It was lime citrusy with lots of red onion flavor that blended well with the fresh and crunchy chips. The spicy green salsa was extremely spicy and I caution you to only but a small drop on each chip. The hanger steak tacos were well cooked, but tasted average. They were not better than the ones served at the nearby restaurant El Fogón. The steak chunks were well seasoned and juicy. I recommend squeezing the lime that comes with the order over the tacos. The meal also comes with yellow rice and frijoles. The yellow rice was good. It was short grain rice cooked soft and mushy with a hint of salt. The frijoles were the biggest disappointment. They lacked flavor and had a paste like consistency. The green chilaquiles with chicken and Oaxaca cheese was solid and a great price too. Like the tacos, this meal also comes with yellow rice and frijoles. They use the same green salsa I described above. The chicken was good. It was seasoned with adobo, shredded and mixed into the meal. The Oaxaca cheese was delicious. It was melted on top of everything and acted like a glue for the meal. I highly recommend this meal for anyone looking for an authentic Mexican dish. The orange juice was good, I would not order the mango juice again. They were both made to order and they were served cold. I would not order the mango juice again because it was too heavy and chunky. read more

I am pretty torn about pik nik. When visit I was basically swimming in tequila lol. I order some carne asada tacos that were about par for the course in Playa Del Carmen and had the Chicken Tortilla Soup which was damn good. However, I ended up taking leftovers home and the leftovers tasted like a completely different meal. The tortilla soup was basically inedible. I was left really confused on how my taste buds got swindled. Besides the food the drinks were just ok. They use drink mix which always leads to low quality cocktails imho. The waiter was nice and even knew not to bother my table when my gf and I got into an argument. +1 star just for steering clear lol. With that in mind Im giving this place 4 stars and recommending not to take leftovers home cuz they suck. read more
