These were the blandest, greasiest tacos I've ever had. The carnitas were dripping with oil & tasted like nothing. The adobada had flavor but had chunks of straight fat. The carne asada was meh at best. I don't think I've ever not finished a street taco before, but I couldn't stomach it after trying multiple bites of each. I was so excited about the guacamole & it just tasted like puréed avocado with no seasoning. I went to the movies hungry instead of finishing this mess. The agua frescas is only good thing here everything else you're better off going to eat at any other local taqueria the food is cold and greasy! Adobada is super greasy and cold the food is sitting in warmers for too long. I got a quesadilla for my child and she didn't want to eat it because it was cold. This place definitely has a different vibe than your traditional taqueria, with a mix of modern and authentic food. Tuesdays and Thursday's are their 1.99 taco specials. I tried their chicken, asada, and soyrizo papas tacos. This is the first place I see that doesn't charge additional for guacamole on tacos. I think the tacos were good and filling but the tortillas a bit dry. I also tried their mango agua Fresca, it was okay a bit too sweet and tasted natural mixed with a bit of artificial flavoring very big portion for the price! There was lots of seating and it didn't feel too crowded and would constantly clear up as people were coming and going. I think their concept of getting your food is very unique and perfect to help run more smoothly as you pay then go to another window to have your order made with whichever toppings you would like. Wow, it was like yesterday this place was a bakery now it's a whole taco spot. Reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because the ambience and service. It really reminds me of el gordos, San Diego tacos type of vibe. I love their set up, the painting on the walls is beautiful. I ordered their asada, adobada, chicharron and cabeza followed by a mango passion fruit Fresca. The taco I enjoyed the most was the cabeza then the asada. The rest weren't it to me. This place has potential and the staff is really nice! The person making our tacos actually hooked us up with a carnitas tacos which was ok tasting but the kind gesture made up for it. Tbh the tacos are okay, I've had plenty of taco trucks in the east side with hand made tortillas and spicier/flavorful salsa choices. The mango passion drink was soooo good though! There was a couple of flies in this nice restaurant which was kinda annoying. The line literally goes out the door but moves really fast. Felt this place was just okay. First, the decor is carried over from the two precious tenants. Doesn't seem to really fit decorum wise (velvetgreen/gold chairs, crystal chandeliers, trees) for for the layout. Arrived at 730pm and the line was all the way to the door and we were just inside the door. I heard a staff member tell some people in front of us that it takes an hour from where we were standing by the time you get your food after standing in a second line. Not true. It took us 15 minutes to get through the first line just to order. The second line maybe about 5 minutes. We were done eating and ready to leave at 8pm. With that being said, I didn't care for the flow of standing in a long line to order, then standing in another line to tell the food preparers how you want yout tacos/burritos, etc. There were many flies on or behind the plastic that hangs down where they make your food. The dining area was filthy. The staff was nice, but the girl taking our order was completely checked out and not paying attention to us nor was she helpful. While she was attempting to finish our order for payment, I had to ask if I could order a drink. I got the cucumber lime fresca, which was good. However, I probably would have ordered another flavor if they were not out. I got the Pollo asida burrito which wasn't anything special. I did utilize the salsa bar and added Verde salsa and squeezed some limes which helped make the burrito more flavorful. My boyfriend got a steak taco and a couple of chicken tacos minus the guacamole. He thought they were tasty. Not sure if I'll be back. The food was just okay in my opinion and I dont want to wait in two lines for my food. The only ones I thought had good flavor were the asada , my son liked the birria I personally think the seasoning isnt there , it was just too much overlad in guach that wasnt flavorable. yeah they took like 30 minutes to make a breakfast burrito while the rest of my family had already gotten they're food. I also wanna preface that the restaurant wasn't busy at all during this time. I'm not claiming to be an expert on cooking Mexican food but I'm pretty sure chilaquiles take longer to make than a breakfast burrito and chilaquiles was flying out the door while I was abandoned, cold and hungry, as my family feasted on their food. Each time I went up to check where my breakfast burrito was, I got a different answer. They told me to go to the taco/burrito station on the left but they said the breakfast burritos are made in the kitchen. Then I asked again and I kept getting another different answer. I pointed at a chocolate cake with a cream topping and the hostess put in a solid extremely dry chocolate cake in which was five dollars. And after arriving home, I opened my plate of tacos excited to have dinner with my family and come to find out. It's just Tortilla and meat on every single of the nine tacos . I called in to ask if this is the way they come or not, and the cashier asked if I had made a mistake by not seeing if they put the cilantro on onions and avocado on the side which they did not. A mistake is a mistake but when you try to put it on a customer that turns into something different. $50 for extremely small tacos is already pretty pricey. I will not be returning here. The workload is not great, when you first enter there are two lines, 1) on your right hand side you line up to order food, on a Saturday midday this took me about 15-20 minutes to reach the counter. After ordering, if you ordered tacos/burritos, then you get into line #2) on your left side, which the wait is an additional 15 minutes before you hand your receipt to the food preppers to start making your food. In total, I waited about 40 minutes for my food, and the wait is not worth the end product. Guacamole had a definite oxidized taste, like lots was prepped before hand and being served throughout the day, and actually deems almost identical to the store bought premade guac you can get at costco. Tacos are $3.50 per taco and they're small, about the size of the palm of your hand. The meats are kept in bins a la Chipotle and scooped onto the tacos, they dont regrill the meats before adding it onto the taco, there's no fresh grilled taste at all. Their salsa bar also doesn't have cilantro or onions??? Who does this. This restaurant is trying to do too much, testing to be a proper brunch sit down spot, a taco/burrito joint, and a bar. read more
