Not far from City College and definitely a great spot to grab some lunch! I was on a job site when a coworker told me we had to stop here so I could try their bacon-wrapped burrito. First off, that sounded way too good to pass up! Once lunchtime came around, we made our way over. My buddy ordered the adobada tacos, while I went with the adobada bacon-wrapped burrito. I was seriously impressed. The burrito was packed with flavor, and I enjoyed it so much that I definitely see myself coming back. I also got to try one of my buddy's adobada tacos, and it was pretty good as well. If I had one small critique, it would be the cabbage on the tacos. When I think of tacos, cabbage isn't usually the first thing that comes to mind--I personally prefer some lettuce. But that's just my preference, and it didn't take away from the overall experience. The restaurant itself has a very open, spacious setup with more than enough seating. Every employee we interacted with was kind, friendly, and helpful, which made the visit even better. I'm really enjoying discovering all the great taco spots around Fresno, and this is definitely one I'd recommend stopping by and trying if you're in the area. read more

Two combination burritos for under $25. Yes, by historic (2019) standards it is expensive, but so is everything. However, El Premio Mayor comes in as less expensive, and tastier than Chipotle. The burrito was moist but it held up well inside the tortilla. The asada was okay, and the flavor didn't dominate. The green salsa had no spice to it, so that is that. We appreciated the food. The only negative is the parking lot at the McKinley location. Too few parking spaces, but hey, if you don't mind a short hike there is huge parking in the shopping center across the canal. We will go back. read more

the food here is actually really good and that's what makes the overall experience frustrating. birria tacos on the weekend are worth the trip alone. rich, messy, the consomé is on point. when the kitchen is firing everything is exactly what you want from a Mexican breakfast spot in Fresno. but getting there is a whole thing. the line can be brutal and the wait doesn't always match up with how long you actually end up waiting once you're inside. organization feels loose and if it's busy things can get chaotic fast. I've had mornings where everything went smoothly and others where I stood around confused about whether my order was even being worked on. closes at 3pm so the window is limited and they really do get slammed during peak hours. the space isn't huge which adds to the pressure. service is friendly when you can get someone's attention but staffing seems stretched thin a lot of the time. the food genuinely deserves better execution around it. if you go, go early, be patient, and know that what eventually hits the table is worth some of the hassle. I keep coming back for the birria which tells you everything. just wish the experience around it was more consistent. read more

It was their first day on the new location. When chucking in it carried the same location as the old one on the same Avenue. I wonder how do we change this. I love their food. They season its original home made. Their food reminds me my mother's cooking. She has the same touch and their food tastes like hers. So that is why I love coming here. I love their Gorditas and their sopes and almost everything. Their salsa it's really good and spicy. I love that. They also have mild. Their drinks are delicious as the Jamaica and Horchata waters. They also have bottles imported drinks from Mexico. The service it's casual as you come to the counter and order. If you stay they will call you and you would pick up and go to your table and eat. Highly recommend. The ambiance it's very casual and familiar. Sorry that day I had to eat first than my camera. Not a real yelp elite that day. Sorry! read more

Food was good. Like the new location on McKinley and Firsr where the old Popeyes used to be. I will say this place is a lot more busy than the Popeye's was, so seating can be limited. They have a cooler with a bunch of bottle and can drinks, and offer a nice menu and many choices of meat. Decorations are simplistic but love that they painted the logo on the wall. Great ambiance. read more

I was thinking i would try your new location on Mckinley & First. You have no website where you can actually take a look at the menu. Your cloud base website area is no longer connected, there is nolink to your page to take you to the menu to order. It took to long to maneuver thru your webiste, and still could not locate a area to review menu and order ahead. So I passed unfortunatley as a customer within a large organization right around the corner from your new store. The chance of employees going to the store to order rather than preorder & pickup is not ideal for lunch crowd. Unfortunate, I would suggest you get the site fixed or present it to the online customer. Rather than foot traffic. Walkin customers have hours to order and eat at lunch. Employees maybe have 30-45 minutes to order, wait, drive back...not ideal it's too bad. I went to McDonalds instead. read more

This place has a new location and it's right across the street in the corner of first and McKinley. They took over the old Popeyes building right by the canal. I'm not sure if they are keeping their old location but lowkey wouldn't make sense to do so if this new location is right across the street. Their menu is pretty simple. I like simple. Not too little and not too much. I noticed a few changes to the building. It's a big window with no window on the wall to order from. They cut off the other part of the dining room where they have the restroom at now. I remember it being L shaped in there. Now when you walk in the building it's just a straight walk. The service was koo. She was patient with me cus I didn't know what to get at first. I ended up with three tacos: cabeza, lengua & tripas. My bf ordered a asada quesadilla and asada tacos. I wish they had a spicy orange habanero sauce but sadly no. Only a red n green sauce. Both wasn't spicy n just okay tasting. I would've wanted my tripa more crispy but maybe I should've told them to do it like that next time. I liked the lengua and cabeza was just ok. Their asada quesadilla was pretty good though! The tacos came with lemon and a side of grilled onions. I would say the place is koo. I'd come back again but maybe try other stuff. read more

Staff is very kind, helpful, and patient at the this casual eatery. I cannot comment on the ambience or parking as this was a pickup order. Pricing is fair and portions are generous. Salsas are yummy. Food is solid. This restaurant only does dine in or pick up which means no delivery. If you want to order for pickup that will have to occur via a phone call. I was surprised their chips are not made in house but still yummy. read more

The 5 tripas tacos and 4 asadas tacos were really good, especially the tripas. I liked that the tacos were falvorful and good on its own without much needed added toppings or even the sauce, despite still using the sauce. I also liked that they gave us serrano chili instead of jalapeno. Service was good; the parking lot was full and the restaurant was packed and busy, but despite that ordering was smooth and the wait time wasn't bad... roughly 15min. The atmosphere of the store was okay, a handful of tables and chairs for dining in but most ordered to-go, waited, then left. Apparently some folks preferred the restaurant from before they moved, because the location on Yelp is inaccurate to the actual location of the restaurant now located on the SW corner of First and McKinley. Overall they went above my expectations considering the area, and more importantly I thought the food so far (what little I had) was quite tasty. Definitely would go back out there for more tripas, sooner than later. read more

My favorite taco spot!! And I can honestly say that every location is the same in quality, which I LOVE! Sometimes when an establishment has multiple locations, the quality of food goes down. That isn't the case here! Try the cucumber lime agua fresca!! Menudo on Sundays and tacos de lengua! Chefs kiss!!! read more

Service was slow. The food wasn't as tasty or good like when they were a taco truck. I should of went across the street to the other one with mini pancakes read more

Upon entering, restaurant did not look clean or well kept. Straws were seen on the floor by the cashier area and "kitchen". No ambiance. Just your typical authentic taco/burrito place. Service was ok. Not as friendly as what you would be used to. Food was overall was not too bad. I've had better and worse. Would I come back again? Most likely not. They forgot my small side of rice and beans. Had to go back and ask for it. We didn't order much: burrito, 3 tacos and a small side of rice and beans. read more

The location is small, parking lot is small but the food has great flavor. Service was on point. Not a lot of wait time.

Went to the new one on McKinley it was my first time, i tried the carnitas burrito supreme and me and my aunt thought it was horrible bland carnitas had no taste bad all the way around waited along time for the salsa bu that time we were done, they alsp over charged her by $4, but we didnt say anything wr well just not be returning read more

So delicious! Good food takes time! Excellent burritos and tacos! Not a long wait and clean .

NGL, I'm usually afraid of places like this. I only went to have lunch with the bf on his break. The ambiance is a bit rough around the edges. I got cabeza tacos and he got tripas burrito. The salsa was decent and fresh. The meat was chopped up nicely, doesn't get stuck in your teeth type almost a mince. A simple Quick bite to dine in or get it to go. Service was fast and they get busy during the lunch hour. read more

I didn't like it here. Visited on Friday evening The service sucked. The guy taking the order was not paying attention maybe it was too loud in there although the plates looked delicious i order asada tacos our but for some reason, our stomach started to hurt right after we ate so I won't be visiting there again and the ladies bathrooms were scary looking so nope ! read more

I am a Carne Asada connoisseur. And a Tripa expert. And both are elite. The tripa was super crispy and had incredible flavor. The asada burrito was packed with rice beans, and meat. I give their salsa an 8/10 and a 7/10 on the spice level. It was a busy Saturday night and we got our food super quick! One of the best Mexican spots in Fresno right now. read more

I'll start off by saying food was 5/10 the carne asada had no flavor and i also paid for an item I didn't get (an asada sope). I tried to call the location once I got home and realized I was missing it and they would not answer (30 min before closing time btw) so sad to have this type of experience here since I love their Maroa location they never miss with their food and service. Will not be returning here again read more

We were traveling back home from Northern CA and decided to stop here on our way home, the place was open late so we decided to stop by. There's so many great Yelp reviews by a lot of Yelpers I know so automatically I thought this place would be fantastic. This place might be fantastic to others, but I'm only basing this review solely on my own experience so I highly recommend that you give this place a shot for your own experience because you might end up loving this place. When we got to the place the area reminded me of my childhood hometown (Delano) and my husband's hometown (Earlimart), so I thought to myself that we hit the jackpot since all those spots that look iffy usually end up being one of the best places to eat. The music was super loud and it definitely reminded me of my hometown. My husband got the bacon wrapped burrito; however, I got the Cuban sandwich. We used to have a nice Cuban restaurant in Bakersfield that I miss and so when I saw that on their menu, I knew I had to check it out. We also ordered a few tacos and I didn't look at my food til we headed out. I took a bite of my sandwich and it tasted familiar but I couldn't make it out, so I flashed my light on it and low and behold it was bar s hotdogs and bologna. I'm not knocking it, I grew up on bar s hotdogs, but that's not a Cuban sandwich. I was super disappointed. Maybe I chose the wrong item here. I absolutely hate non charred bar s hotdog and I'm not a fan of bologna, so if I ever was in town, I would never get that sandwich again. I felt bad giving such a low rating because the staff was superb and really friendly. Maybe they just had an off night when I came. I definitely believe you should check this place out because you might love it, it's just not for me. read more

So I came to the wrong premio mayor but it turned out to be great tacos. Only problem we had is my brother and I both ordered 5 tacos and he only had 4. The tacos themselves were all great. I tried 5 different kind to see if I can find something wrong with one..asada, adobada, Pollo, cabeza and tripas..all of them were amazing...the salsa wasn't spicy but it was good..they put a serrano on the side so can't complain. The tortillas were good..ill definitely be back but minus one star for missing 1 taco. read more

First time and last time . We wanted to try this place, we got some tacos, bacon wrapped hotdog, and a bacon wrapped supreme burrito. All the food was below average and overpriced. We didn't even finish the food. We thought the hotdog was gonna be like the ones they sell on the streets from a cart, but not even close. I discov El Premio Mayor when I worked at Amazon. They used to have a food truck parked outside. Their burritos were always fire and their tacos were a decent price. Once I discovered their birria tacos, it was a wrap. They were juicy and very cheesy. Only disappointment was they only serve Thursdays at the Maroa location. I even visited both restaurants and they didn't disappoint. Great service, bomb food, 10/10. Will always recommend. read more

Tortas or Mexican sandwiches served on a bun are this restaurant's claim to fame. Of course, the tacos, in addition to their options for burritos (original, wet burrito, breakfast burrito, and bacon-wrapped burrito) are popular menu choices and loyal patrons will say are must-orders. The horchata and aqua frescas are also very good here. Other items on the menu include taquitos, enchiladas, gorditas, sopes, quesadillas, Menudo (weekends only), nachos, tostadas, and even a bacon-wrapped hot dog (ala Mexican street-style). Solid, authentic Mexican food. I liked but did not love anything I ordered. Open late (until 10 pm) Monday to Thursday, and until 11 pm from Friday to Sunday. It is a tiny taqueria with limited seating. More seats are available during the day with an open-ceiling dining section adjacent to the restaurant, which only has three tables and six chairs inside. Not recommended during winter months, however, because there is no outdoor lighting or heating. It may also be worth noting that the taqueria is located off of McKinley Avenue, near North First Street - a very sketchy section of town. read more

I went in at 11 am to order a menudo just to wait 20 minutes just to be told they sold out. They didn't bother to apologize or offer me an agua fresca for all that wait. Compared to when before they moved to this new location the food quality has dropped. If I'm being honest I think the cook in the old location didn't move to this one. In my opinion, the new cook doesn't know how to prepare food. Specifically the torta, some ingredients were missing, wasn't built right, and overall didn't taste as good to when they were at the old location. Tacos were still good, but I am unable to tell if the rest of the food maintained it's good quality. read more

One of my all-time favorite taco spots! The food is consistently good, even after all these years, and the staff is always so hardworking. How have I not left a review here before!! This is the best taco/burrito spot in Fresno!! The bacon wrapped burrito is amazing and so are the regular ones but come on BACON! Tacos are amazing! Sopes are amazing! Asada is my favorite. I wish it was located closer to me. The staff is so nice to me even though there is a language barrier.
