He considered all of my symptoms, outlined possibilities, and ordered some additional testing. I'd say the experience with him was five stars. The front desk person was also helpful as was the nurse. The negatives were that I had to do a COVID test, which seemed to be unnecessary to me, and there was some difficulty running the insurance. I think this is a fairly new location--they mentioned not having testing done on premise yet, so I think that more will be added in the future. But I'd definitely recommend Dr. Sultan as a primary care physician.

His office staff, and the staff at the surgical center where he does the injections, are so friendly that I remark on it every time I see them. I was told last week by one of the nurses that the reason everyone is so friendly is that Dr. Houston makes working for him a joy, that they actually enjoy going to work every day. And, it shows. He WILL find the cause of my pain, and I have every confidence that he'll do his part to fix it. If you are looking for a doctor who's just going to write you scripts, he is not the doctor for you. He's ethical and by the book. He's not afraid to prescribe meds that help, but if that's all you're looking for then you should find another doctor because he is going to require you to take part in your treatment. I chose this place because it was close to my apartment and I can walk here, I obviously should have done some more research beforehand. Cons: -My first experience which should have right away been a red flag, was the fact that I called this place everyday for a week trying to get an appointment. They did not pick up the phone ONCE. I left a very detailed message every time, and still no call backs EVER. So I kept calling and on the 10th day after leaving 9 messages, I tried calling they finally picked up. - Okay I understand working as an administrative assistant in a medical office can be difficult, but the level of unprofessionalism is ridiculous here. When they did FINALLY pick up the phone I spoke to the rudest person I have ever dealt with. I simply stated that I was a new patient and that I would like to make an appointment, and then the person on the other end of the phone just started talking to someone else! I'm not kidding, no putting me on hold, nothing. I could clearly hear their conversation too, and they were not even asking someone else about how to make the appointment, they were were just talking about some gossip and carrying on. She finally spoke to me, in a tone like she was annoyed that she had to do her job, and then would randomly ignore me and talk to her coworkers again! I was so confused, because I had no idea people who work in customer service could be like that! - I didn't expect a beautiful office and waiting area by any means, but this place looks like it hasn't seen a new coat of paint since the 60's! There is also an awful blaring TV in the waiting room that blasts daytime TV non-stop. There is no windows in the whole place and it has a very low ceiling which made me feel like I was in some creepy basement. - the scale I was weighed on was digital but soooooo old. I'm not kidding this thing had to be 20+ years old. - I had to wait 30 minutes after my appointment for 3 pages of paper to be printed out with my referrals on them. I guess their printer was having issues. I asked if she could just email them and she said no. - I never saw the doctor, only an RN. - The location. So this place is basically buried inside a really weird old office building/mall. It's IMPOSSIBLE to find. It took me 45 minutes to find it once I got inside the building, and I am not some grandma that gets confused about where I am, I'm in my early 20's! - When I was there I requested 2 referrals, one for a genetic counselor and one for another type of specialist. Well I was given my referrals and the first one I called was not even in my insurance network. I figured it was a random error on their part and I made my call to the other specialist, the 'genetic counselor.' To my surprise it was a psychiatrist! Those two medial occupations are not even close to the same thing! I was so embarrassed after that phone call that I called the Potomac Regional Medical Associates to get a new referral for a real genetic counselor. Can you guess what happened? No answer and no call back. EVER. I just switched to a different primary care physician this week, and it was the best decision I've ever made. Pros: - The receptionist was kind when I got there, but did mention that she was ready to go home and she was tired. - The RN was actually super nice and listened attentively to my needs. She was honestly the best part of the experience even if she messed up on the referrals.

From the moment I walked in, I was treated with kindness and urgency. Nurse Dolly greeted me at the door and immediately helped. She was warm, welcoming, and got me checked in quickly, which meant everything at that moment. Nurse Practitioner Carol was caring, attentive, and truly knew her stuff. The treatment she gave me provided relief when I needed it most. Even though Ia couple of nights later went I was admitted into the hospital the doctors confirmed that Carol was absolutely right in her approach of care. I ended up being twelve minutes late because i had both kids and couldn't get the baby out of a tight spot so had to switch parking spaces. The front desk made me wait almost thirty minutes to tell me that I was being denied a visit because i was late. When I called to complain the management basically stood behind that and said we reserve the right to deny even if you are one minute late. But no problem having you the parent wait. Cool cool. Ive never seen the same provider twice there very much a factory. We are at children's medical associates so far so good. I am willing to make the drive. Also considered going back to our DC pediatrician west end peds which is pretty good. The admin/medical records side of this practice also terrible. Playing phone tag with them to pay them to send the medical records. The cost varies by the number of pages of the record. Cool cool cool. I made the right decision switching!!!

Our situation required a follow up the day after. Although she wasn't working the next day, she made sure another physician took a look at my daughter so that the following day they'd have a baseline to assess progress. She also went out of her way to call us and follow up a few days later just to make sure things were moving in the right direction. I highly recommend Karen and trust her with our care. She was a perfect example of the type of care and attention to detail you want from your medical provider.
