This is a place that 1. have associates working that caused considerable damage to my daughter's gums. Multiple times they left wiring hanging which was penetrating my daughter's gums causing injury. 2. in order to force clients to provide a good review they offer to provide a retainer for free after a review that we had to provide first and they review, and they only provide the upper arc retainer only, asking the patient to pay 225 dollars for the lower arc retainer, although in the picture of what is included in the free offer have both retainers listed!! Full of false advertising and poor service. The secretary in the front desk is the most rude person we met in our lives. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I am not sure how they remain in business. read more

To follow up on my previous review on Frey Orthodontics who took our $800 AND at the same time refused to treat our son...we took him just down the street to the highly reputable PASHA ORTHODONTICS who IN FACT, did not agree that a Herbst Appliance for a child at 15-years of age and at his stage of development would be the best course of action - interesting!! We are thrilled with the office staff, ease of getting appointments, stellar reputation, and of course, the professionalism of Dr. Patel himself. Our family strongly recommends this practice if you're considering where to go in Naperville. Trying to share our misfortune with as many teacher friends and community members in hopes that you can learn from our recent costly mistake at FREY ORTHODONTICS where the doctor still has not found the time to personally call and investigate the matter. read more

Dr Frey runs a great practice!!! My kids (2 currently in braces) love him and the staff is super friendly. They will all take the time to answer questions and never loose their patience. I went to Dr. Frey as a 21 year old looking for braces for the first time. He was recommended to me from a friend whose entire family went to Dr. Frey and all had perfect teeth. I wanted that! My entire process took a little over 2 years, and as an adult with braces, they made it nothing short of stress free and a wonderful experience. The one thing I took away from Dr. Frey is that he is a perfectionist in the best way possible. He is not going to tell you to take your braces off early if he knows that is not in the best interest of your teeth. Beautiful office! We started with Dr. Frey's practice years ago with my oldest when it was still in an older space. He has since moved and the new office is beautiful. With the change the staff has gotten bigger and there seems to be less attention to detail. As a result, I believe my son's time in braces went a lot more smoothly than my daughter's. That being said, they both came out with gorgeous smiles, but the second was more costly as they also started charging for broken brackets. There were a few times that staff forgot to replace my daughters power chain which caused teeth to gap pretty quickly and I felt like the broken brackets may have had something to do with less experienced people applying them. The front desk staff was friendly and always seemed to know us without reminder which was nice. All in all a good outcome I just didn't enjoy the added cost of the brackets knowing that my daughter wasn't mistreating her braces. read more

If you have any questions or concerns about your child's treatment you will not speak with Dr. Frey unless you make an appt to do so. Based on our experience, that appt will most likely be several weeks after your request. Because of this, during the course of treatment I had uncertainty, confusion and miscommunication between myself and his staff. I wish during our initial consultation that someone would have explained to us that this is the policy. If so, I would have been able to make a more informed decision on choosing an orthodontist. Their work breaks a lot- which should not happen if your kid avoids eating the things that can cause damage. My daughter followed the instructions yet we have had plastic retainers crack, brackets fall off l, permanent retainers metal piece behind the teeth fall out multiple times. Not only is it a big time waste to parents to have to go in extra to get these things fixed, they will gouge you and charge hundreds of dollars to get things fixed. Their cement did not hold on my daughters brackets and after a certain Number of times they start to charge you. If their quality of work is poor, and they do not cement properly to last, then they charge the client for the repair. Frey not only gets the $5,000-$6,000 for braces, they charge for many repairs that really are due to their work not holding as it should. Getting nickel & dimed hundreds of dollars on top of reg cost is very, very frustrating. Save a lot of money and find a smaller practice who cares about quality not quantity. Not a big machine taking advantage of being in a town like Naperville by overcharging parents for everything. read more

The lack of professionalism that I experienced from this orthodontic practice is beyond belief. I originally came here for a consult in 2014. At that time they gave me an estimate of $5,586 which I could not afford. Fast forward to now, when I can afford it. I went to another orthodontist for a consult and decided to also talk to Frey, since in 2014 they seemed great. I offered to send them my full mouth x-rays, as I had the other orthodontist, but they insisted they wanted to retake them. I scheduled a consult for 10:30 a.m. on 6/2 and was told it would take an hour. I was not seen by Shannon, the office manager and Frey until 11:30 a.m. !! and I did not get out of there until 12:30 p.m. Why? Because she was an hour late because of a service appt. at her house. And before I went in for the consult one of their techs. who seemed very inexperienced with the x-ray machine--tried to get those full mouth x-rays but failed to tell me something would be coming down on my head and failed to tell me to take my sunglasses off the top of my head. He broke them. The orthodontist seemed annoyed and rushed during the consult. He seemed uncomfortable answering my questions. And at one point, after I was questioning the extent to which he felt he would need to shave my teeth, he said, "These are beautiful teeth." showing someone whose teeth he had straightened. "These are not beautiful teeth." showing what appeared to be a picture of my teeth. When I commented about this after he had left the room Shannon said, "He doesn't always have the best beside manner." but then denied that it was a picture of my teeth. I also was shocked that the estimate given by Frey Ortho. was TWICE as much as the other orthodontist. Shannon said, "Well, if you go somewhere else it won't be nearly as good". (Doubtful.) After I got done with both of my orthodontic consults, I had questions/concerns before deciding. July 9 I called both ortho. offices. I called the other orthodontist and the friendly receptionist wrote down my questions, spoke directly with the orthodontist and got back to me right after lunch. I called Frey Ortho. the same day. Their paperwork says: "If you have any questions regarding our initial diagnosis or treatment recommendation, please contact our office at 630/357-4060 and ask to speak to a treatment coordinator." Receptionist: "Oh, do you want to schedule a consult?" Me: "NO, no I just want my questions answered." Receptionist: "Well, I can't help you with that and Shannon is in a consult right now but I will have her call you back." Fast forward to July 27th--over 2 weeks later. She NEVER called me back. I spoke with the receptionist today--and again she said that Shannon was unavailable. I expressed my concern at Shannon not returning my call from over two weeks ago. The receptionist said two things which alarmed me: 1)"Well, I THINK I gave her the message. She gets a lot of messages." and 2) "Well, she is trying to juggle two offices." To which I replied, "Well, it is of concern to me because I have hesitation to get treatment at an office that does not return phone calls. What if there was a problem or concern during treatment?" Soon after Shannon called back--not to answer my questions--FINALLY--but to berate me, to say that she didn't have time to answer my questions. She also informed me that she did not get back to me because...they were on vacation for 2 weeks and then she FORGOT. She said, she DOESN'T HAVE TIME to call people back during the day. That Frey (her husband btw) had said after the last consult that he didn't want me for a patient because he didn't have patience for my questions. (No patience for patients). This after sending a letter saying that they "enjoyed getting to know me" and to "please contact them with any questions." She spewed out, "My receptionist told me you threatened to go to another orthodontist." An inaccurate quote. When I tried to discuss things with her she cut me off and said, "I'm not going to argue with you." I said, "Oh, you are not able to DISCUSS things with me?" She also demanded, "Did you get a periodontal appt. done?" 1) Why would I do that before deciding which of the two orthodontists I was going to (the other one does not require that) and 2) I had told her my dentist had charted my teeth. The plan was to contact them for the records. And when I told her about the broken glasses--her only response was "Why didn't you tell us when you were here?" I did not know they were broken from the x-ray machine being put down on top of them until I got out to my car and tried to put them on. I knew I would talk to her about it when I called with follow-up questions. I just said, "You are right. This is not a good fit." And I ended the call. She also said they don't like to treat adults over 23 anyway. So if you are over 23 go elsewhere--a place that will treat you professionally, with respect, and like they actually want your business. read more

Just a tip. Received quotes on treatment and costs from about 4 orthodontists. The Dr. Has a gentle manner and seems adequate but he is not in charge of the way things are run. We went with a Dr. that had the most state of the art equipment and the most professional staff. read more

My son recently started orthodontic treatment with Dr Frey and ended up having an impacted canine. He was very knowledgeable and explained the process of getting the tooth in place. My son needed to have a surgery and I really liked the way Dr. Frey and his staff explained everything to us and even had videos to demonstrate the process. They answered all of our questions and gave us options. It has only been a few months and the tooth is down and starting to move into the space. My sons teeth already look straight minus the tooth that will soon be in place. Very pleased so far and can't wait to see the final results. read more

First of all, love the office design! The staff is all very friendly and helps make the office a welcoming place for kids. Great outcome and smile, but the staff would always take out the wires, and then you would sit there for sometimes 10 minutes with your brackets open waiting for Dr. Frey to finish with his other patients. Since they moved to their new slick office in Naperville, they seem to be very focused on "marketing" and "looks". Our daugher hardly ever sees Dr. Fry at her appointments - just the technician. They seem to just run them through like a factory. Miss the staff and the more patient friendly care they had at their smaller, less fancy office. read more

This practice looks very good from the outside but scratch the surface and it is in complete disarray. With it's limited hours requiring kids to be out of school for even the most basic upkeep to the staff which seem to be in a perpetual state of confusion, our experience has been frustrating at best. While my son is already a few months into his "treatment", we have very little confidence that the substantial cost will result in the the smile we had envisioned. His staff is efficient and pleasant, the office is beautiful but most important the quality care sets Frey Orthodontics apart from the rest. Frey Orthodontics was great to work with for both of our kids braces. The staff is very helpful and treat their patients genuinely. Appointments always run on time which is VERY important. When we were referred to them originally neither our son or daughter were ready for braces so we saw Dr. Frey every 6 months or so until it was time. From the start of the process through the last day of braces has been a good experience. Michelle is super friendly and great at getting you scheduled when it works for you. Dr. Frey's office was always a pleasant place to be. It was bright and clean and appointments were generally on time. I was afraid that parking would be an issue, but there was always a spot available in the designated parking area. My son's teeth turned out great. The braces were on for a little longer than promised, but the results were worth it. My only complaint is that it was sometimes hard to book a appointment. This is a busy place! read more

Need an Ortho? Highly recommend AGAINST Dr. Frey. He bought out Dr. Trapani who was amazing! Dr. Frey is very rough on the mouth. he is quite arrogant too and I don't think cared why I needed his help. I would not have spent the time to post my dislike of him but today his tech chipped my front tooth. said she didn't. he told me he would pay for it (though paying for it was not my concern, I wanted to cry that my front tooth was chipped). he said his office would call my dentist. when they called they were very rude and said they wouldn't pay. would have thought I could trust Dr. Frey on his word. We were on the fence if we should get Maddie braces as they are just for cosmetic reasons (though they made it sound like they were necessary until I asked the specific question, does she NEED braces?). holding off and if we do we definitely won't use Dr. Frey. Colin loved Dr. Trapani, wish he was around for Maddie. Dr. Frey was rough in his mouth (dr trapani had surgery so dr. frey did the last couple months for col) and mine (he cut my gums with his nails almost every time he tooth in and out my invisilign type retainer.). read more
