    Buddha satay with chicken
    Sally W.

Just opened on Wisconsin Ave! The staff was so friendly and helpful finding menu options. Tons of salads, wraps, burritos, bowls, smoothies, juice!!! I got the Buddha satay which was great. Too many green onions, but that's easy to take out. Lots of quinoa options on the menu. Very similar to a noodles set up where you order and wait and pick it up and eat at table/take your own trash back. One of the staff members came around and made sure everything was great. Definitely not something you get at fast casual places normally. Can't wait to try so many more things on the menu!!

Bamboo bowl-Thai style curry. Recommend for downtown lunch
    Emily C.

The bamboo bowl is a favorite. It is a little more sweet than typical curry, but I like the taste. Nice to have healthier options downtown for lunch. The shredded coconut on top adds a lot. They use brown rice here, a big plus in my book.

A quiet fine dining experience tucked in the Bay View neighborhood…read more Our visit to Sage to celebrate an anniversary dinner was delightful. It's located in the historic White House. And the restaurant embraces that history and weaves it into the dining experience with the decor, heirlooms and anecdotes. The menu changes seasonally. Both seasons that I have seen were small but well-balanced with something to please most palates. We enjoyed the stuffed dates, the carrot curry soup, the salmon and the beef tenderloin. All of them were amazing. Seasoning was subtle to let the flavors of the ingredients shine through. And the cooking and execution was fantastic. Their cocktails are complex and delicious. And the creme brulee dessert was one of the best I've had in the city. The service was good, but this isn't a place you come for a quick bite and run. It's a place to converse, to sip, and enjoy some decadent bites.

Our friends were seated first and were in full sun for about an hour and a half, which wasn't ideal, but they also didn't want to complain. Maybe some shades could be installed? Our server was great and service all around was attentive and prompt. My highlights were the rosemary mocktail and the pistachio blondie.

It felt like a fancier bar, more than just the classic tavern style every Milwaukee bar is serving up. Fully loaded beer/drink menu. We sat outside since it was beautiful out. Our server was very attentive, and knew everything about the menu. The burger was delicious, with perfectly melted cheese. You can taste the quality in the meat and cheese. My wife had the house chicken sandwich. The chicken was thin, with a good amount of crunch. Exactly what you want for the perfect sandwich. Id love to come back for their pizza special on Monday nights. And for trivia! It looks like they have a shuttle so I hope to use that soon as well.

It started out fantastic, but after we received our food, we were never checked on again and actually had to literally chase down our server to get the bill. Outside there were three tables of people, one large group who was waiting for the baseball shuttle and just drinking. Two larger tables were set up as reserved inside. They slowly filled as we ate our meal. And one other table of two came in after us. There were maybe 4 people at the bar. All this to say, it wasn't crazy busy by any stretch. We started with one server (who was really good) who took our order then we were handed off to another (who wasn't bad). When we arrived we were one of two tables inside. There were three servers on the floor and two behind the bar which was adequate for the number of people dining. Our initial server apparently was working the reserved seating, but even still, the second server never checked on us after we received our food. Also, we didn't receive our entire order. We weren't charged for the food we didn't get, but had anyone stopped by to refill water or see if we wanted more drinks, we could have asked about the missing food. So, all in all, not the worst dining experience ever, but not the best. Being ignored is never fun.

It's rare to find a place where both me and my son can eat from the same menu, especially since he's a picky eater, but he finished his entire plate. Friendly vegan spot (5/5 Green Stars) If you're visiting…read moreMilwaukee then a visit to E Brady St. is probably worth your while - a few interesting spots here, including Twisted Plants. I wanted to support my vegan brothers and sisters and, having being on the road (actually on Amtrak, so rails, really) for a while, I was craving some protein. Following the advice of the friendly staff members, I opted for an order of "Drummies" (Dazed & Confused) to maximize my protein intake. I ended up eating it in the restaurant and thought the vegan drumsticks were delicious with the two homemade sauces provided (ranch and chili). This dish is pricier than most of the others ($15, compared to a more reasonable $4 for fries or $10 for vegan mozzarella sticks) but memorable. The place could do with a few tweaks in terms of décor/atmosphere but the friendly staff helped make it a nice experience. I'm also rating the Twisted Plants 4.5 out of 5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, based on the following: * Everything on the menu - savory food and pastries - is vegan. * Most of the food packaging is compostable. * Staff members are happy to tell you what's in your food. The drummies that I ordered are from Lily's Vegan Pantry - made in Taiwan from soy and seasoning (no palm oil). * Cookies are from local vegan entrepreneur, Bunny's Bite. * It fills a useful niche of craveable vegan (elevated) fast food. Next time I want to try the Crispy Chik'n Salad (made with organic greens) as it's one of those dishes I never tried before I went veggie.

I got the grilled pork banh mi with a cup of broth (~1/2 quart, $5) with a Vietnamese iced coffee. Sandwich was good, but it wasn't very big for $10. The meat, which was good I was expecting to be pieces of grilled meat, was very sparse and very thin, like bulgogi. The broth was pretty sweet instead of savory and likely already pre-seasoned with hoisin. In terms of service, I had placed my order first. Sandwich with the coffee. My partner said he'll have the same thing. I confirmed to make sure that was also including the ice coffee, and the person that took our order said yes. We waited for a while for our order (highly recommend ordering online, we just saw different prices on their website vs online ordering service, so we thought we'd just wait to order in person), then she forgot our iced coffees. We waited some more. She only brought out one. She said oh sorry, I only rang you up for one. So we waited some more. At that point I thought she would just let us have the coffee on the house, but she did indeed ring us up. We were probably in and out with our to-go order in about 40 minutes. All in all, I'd go back for the iced coffees if I was in the area because they were good, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go back.
