freshfin is my favorite place to grab lunch during the work week. It's delicious, fast, healthy, and they use fresh quality ingredients. We grabbed a lunch today at the University Ave location in Madison. The restaurant is very clean and the staff are super friendly. FreshFin has something for everyone from handcrafted or craft your own, a variety of sides, and Vitalblend smoothies. Any of the bowls can be crafted to accommodate vegan, vegetarian, or gluten free diets. What we ordered: * The sweet avo bowl with salmon added and brown rice and mixed greens base * The spicy tuna bowl with brown rice and mixed greens base * A side of Edamame guac- the best thing ever, wish I could order a tub of this and got more wonton chips There are many Freshin locations In Madison stop in and try one today! read more

The past few times that I have ordered I have gotten the buy one get one Thai curry coconut soup. Not only is it delicious, but it warms the soul. From the onions, the sweet potatoes the rice, the coconut, the curry, and everything in between-- the soup is nothing short of amazing. I loved the food here and that includes the firecracker chicken, which I have also ordered! I just give a big shout a big thanks for hooking me up on my latest Thai curry coconut soup you guys hooked up the portions and I just wanted to say and I love your food and I love you guys! Thanks! Unfortunately, I am not in the popular camp that loved FreshFin. I am spoilt for choice when it comes to Poke in Chicago and usually eat it once a week, if not more so my expectations are higher. During a recent work trip to Madison, I stopped by here for a quick lunch and was surprised to see no one else dining in the entire time I was there. I got a make my own bowl. A few observations from the menu and that didn't work for me are; Toasted coconut is a topping I haven't seen before The brown rice texture was not sushi/poke style All their sauces had too much going on and the one I got based on the cashiers recommendation had ginger in it but he made it sound like it was more salty than gingery which was not true and that alone maybe why I didn't enjoy my bowl at all. read more

First time at FreshFin Poke and absolutely LOVED it. Such a cute place with pretty interiors. Offers a nice fusion take to poke bowl jand they also have vegan options available. The name does justice to the food offered. The Poke bowls are prepared with the freshest ingredient and bursting with flavors. Well done! We tried the Spicy Tuna and Rainbow bowl and both were so fresh and delicious. Ordered the regular size and it was plenty. I cannot wait to go back and try the other bowls on the menu. It's a 10/10 for me, highly recommend!! read more

Ordered the "#1 favorite" spicy tuna bowl, regular size. Two fruit flies crawled out of it while I was eating. I returned to the counter with the bowl, and alerted the staff to the situation. Server asked me to confirm that the flies came *out* of the bowl, I did. He apologized and asked if I wanted the bowl remade. I declined. read more

I ordered a rainbow bowl to go on a Sunday night. It was a quick order process. When I got my bowl I was excited to see it so full. However when I started to dig in I was disappointed in the amount of fish and sauce in the bowl. Compared to other poke places the amount of fish given was underwhelming. I was also extremely disappointed in the amount of sauce on the bowl. Again, compared to other poke bowl places it was barely there. I ended up adding my own shoyu at home. One of the only things I did enjoy was the amount of seaweed salad given. It was a generous amount, for which I was grateful. Was it enough to excuse the small portions of fish & minimal sauce? Overall, my bowl was a bit underwhelming and slightly disappointing. It might be good for those who enjoy more of the toppings sans protein. I might give it a go again in the future. If so I'll be sure to ask for extra protein & extra sauce. read more

Fresh, healthy, filling- what more could you want?! I love FreshFin, and love even more that they have chicken and pork options if you aren't feeling tuna or salmon, or with someone who isn't an adventurous eater. You can also customize a bowl, or build your own entirely if you aren't feeling the pre-set options. The order ahead function on their app is super helpful as well and makes everything a breeze. read more

I ordered 2 salads today, for the first time. They were both excellent! Fresh and delicious! We will be back!

The service is quick, the food tastes fresh, and ordering in house or for pick up is a simple process. You select from one of the house-crafted bowls or you can build your own bowl. There is some seating inside where you can dine in after you order at the counter. The prices are fair - you can order a regular bowl, which satisfies my appetite, or you can order a large bowl if you're feeling a little hungrier. My favorite bowl is the sweet avo, and the power ginger is a close second :) read more

Freshfin Poke is my favorite poke place. It's more of a fusion take on poke. I always get a regular mango tango with half brown life and half mixed greens. I've been going to Freshfin Poke since 2017 - their Milwaukee North Ave location. The downside of this location is that there is no parking lot because it is downtown. The Mango Tango is delicious. It's balanced perfectly with the mango, sauce and salmon. Over the years, their serving sizes have gotten bigger and more appropriate to match their prices. This location used to have metal forks but have replaced it with compostable forks. I love the effort for more sustainability. You can also join their loyalty program where each dollar counts as a point and after you hit a certain amount of points, you can redeem a discount amount. You just have to remember to give them your phone number every time you order so they can count that towards your point total. Over the last 6 months, they have changed how they reward based off points and it's harder to track how many points you have unless you ask them in person. read more

FreshFin brings a modern twist to your traditional poke. The venue is very fun and colorful and the restaurant is very clean. I like the decor that they have and they have pretty sizable indoor seating despite being a smaller venue. The poke I got there was fresh, clean, and tasty. FreshFin's Poke is a bit on the higher end for Poke in Madison, but the quality and ambiance of the food and venue makes it worth it in my opinion! read more

I've been waiting for Freshfin to come to Madison! A great quick stop downtown. I chose the Rainbow Bowl and took out pineapple and added edamame and radish. I also subbed zucchini noodles instead of rice. I love how easy it was to add/take things off. There are many options that are free of charge to swap or add! (Zucchini noodles were $1.50) I was really impressed with the zucchini noodles, they were fresh and crisp! A very good choice if you don't want/like rice. The ahi and salmon were good, not the best, but decent. The sauces were good- I would have added extra aioli. Madison has really great poke options and I would say this is one of them! read more

Nice place / attractive location. I thought my spicy tuna bowl tasted pretty good, and the pick up was efficient, but I was a little confused about the tuna. The texture was a little strange and it looked whiteish almost like it had been cooked a bit or something else happened to it... It tasted ok, but Poke is supposed to be raw so not sure what happened or if I missed something. read more

First time trying this place out and I decided to complete my lunch order through Yelp--woohoo! All went better than expected. Received email confirmation at 12:30PM to expect it within 35-55 minutes. Got a notification of when my food left the restaurant and my GrubHub guy called me at 12:53PM. This worked out great--especially since it was like, 1 degree out! I ordered a large BYOB and put almost everything in it, along with requests of extra sauces and wasabi. My eyes were definitely hungrier than my stomach. My bowl was packed and I could barely finish. Ingredients were so fresh and tasty! I was full past dinner time...! I now know that a regular bowl will do the trick. ;) Definitely ordering via Yelp again. read more

Loved the coconut curry with chicken! Such a great surprise to find this place. Nothing fancy, quick and easy:

I ordered a chicken bowl which was good, but they messed up my online order which was annoying.

I've been to the one in Brookfield before so this place met my expectations. The decor is almost the exact same. It was a little heavier on the sauce side than I expected. Parking is slightly inconvenient if you don't live downtown. I'm always down to eat poke as it is fresh and healthy (or at least I think it is)! read more

After taking a workout class with my sister, we were really craving a healthy, fresh dish for lunch. Despite it being winter in WI and negative degrees outside, poke was calling our name. Normally, Miko Poke has been my poke place, but we wanted to try a new poke placed today (though, not exactly new as my sister and I have had FreshFin in Milwaukee before). Nonetheless, just like the location in Milwaukee, Madison's FreshFin is a great place for poke. Clean, modern aesthetic. I love that their condiment bar has a selection of Furikake (Japanese Rice Seasoning) to choose from to add to your poke as desired. I had the Spicy Tuna Signature Bowl. My BF had the Coconut Curry Shrimp Signature Bowl and my sister had the Kailani Signature Bowl. All signature bowls are customizable, which I appreciated. Huge portion sizes (I could barely finish the regular size, was super full and probably would've been better off saving some as leftovers). Fresh ingredients. My Spicy Tuna bowl had a tad bit too many jalapeños for my taste, a bit overpowering for me given the delicate flavors of the tuna and all the other ingredients. Next time, I think I would either ask for less or no jalapeños and just rely on the siracha aioli for the spice factor. We also ordered the truffle crab salad, which sounded delicious, but honestly was a bit underwhelming. The ingredients were really fresh, but the flavors were lacking. This doesn't factor into my rating, but this location is not super convenient for me as I don't live downtown and it's hard to find street parking. However, if I were ever in the area again and looking for a fresh, healthy meal, I would definitely keep FreshFin in mind! read more

I love me some poke bowl it's probably one of my top foods right now so when I saw FreshFin was coming to Hilldale I freaked out! I purchased the rainbow bowl which has tuna, salmon, pineapple, avocado, cilantro and lots more. The quality of the seafood was very nice and ingredients were fresh. I purchased a large and was able to feed myself for dinner for two nights. I can't wait to try more of bowls and would recommend giving it a try if you're a fan of poke read more

I come here at least once a week. Hands-down the best poke in Madison. The indoor-dining is nice and they are very generous with add-in ingredients to your bowl. The spicy tuna and curry coconut are my favorites. I recommend adding seaweed salad and pickled ginger to your bowls! read more

Marginal. Tuna (#1 ingredient!) wasn't great- low quality in an ingredient where you want the best. Portions were good and we liked the other ingredients for the most part, but both bowls were lacking sauce (even though the build your own had 3 sauces supposedly) and we felt all the ingredients were low quality. There's better poke in town. read more

Overall it was okay. It checks the box for Poke, but isn't the best in Madison. Okay toppings, but the rice is pretty average. It's definitely not sushi grade rice. The salmon itself was good, a little light on serving size but not fishy or anything. Sriracha mayo was good and had a nice kick. read more

I have tried a few other poke places in Madison but this place is my favorite. The service is pretty quick and the staff has been friendly. They have a decent amount of seating and have a really bright restaurant. Their fish seemed pretty fresh and my bowl was tasty. I think I could have had less sauce. I also wish they gave more fish and didn't douse it in sauce. Overall, it is still a great, light tasting bowl that I enjoy and I'd come back again. read more

I'll be honest. I've been so wary of poké places because of the random influx of poké in Madison. Though, I will say, I have been following FreshFin on Instagram back when they announced they were coming to Madison. It took me long enough to order from there. The location is pretty convenient. So I ordered on Yelp x GrubHub. My order was ready when I got there. Actually, I had ordered for a group of people, so I was more impressed that it was ready. Though, I guess, arguably, poké is probably not *that* difficult to assemble? But I'm no expert. I got the Spicy Tuna bowl. And okay, another one of my qualms about poké was that I really enjoy sushi, so why would I pay the same price for deconstructed sushi? Anyway, I was not disappointed with my Spicy Tuna bowl. It was actually very filling, and not because of the rice. There was a good amount of all ingredients. I also got seaweed salad in it - would recommend it, if you're into that kind of thing. It is a good thing I live just far enough of a walk where my lazy self can talk myself out of walking to FreshFin. Or else I'd be there all the time. read more

I quite liked my bowl, not the crab salad, cant recall what it was. Big portion. Though my girlfriend didnt love it.

This is my 2nd time trying FreshFin in the last week because this place really is THAT GOOD! The flavors are so fresh and the portions are huge. I got the Spicy Tuna bowl with extra veggies, crispy garlic, crispy onion and the crab salad. 10/10 would recommend this place! read more

Don't get the ponzu garlic sauce. It was so strong of garlic that I could not taste anything else. It was like eating the top of a piece of garlic bread. I got it before work and I'm genuinely concerned about my breath. Honestly, it was one of the worst meal I've ever had. The ingredients seemed fresh and on paper Everything was fine, but the sauce was horrendous. Maybe a different sauce would be delicious, but I felt like I had to give a public service announcement. read more

This poké bowl place just opened up a block from my apartment so I decided to check it out. The decor is very artsy and the love the tall ceilings. The workers were very nice which made it easy to order at a new place. I made a build your own bowl, regular size, white rice, with ahi tuna and salmon. I was recommended a mix of classic and sweet shoyu sauce which was delicious. I like the portion size. It wasn't the best poké bowl I've tried but I'd go again. read more

I ordered for delivery off of eat street and it was amazing! Not only was my order made correctly, but it was SO good. Everything tasted super fresh and the price was on point. I've visited FreshFin twice and I would say my experience was okay, nothing terrible or amazing either way. This review is about my second visit. The decor and ambience of the place is certainly remarkable. The lighting and modern design is excellent for a spot under The James. That being said, the food did not taste fresh and took more than 20 minutes to bring out to us. The manager apologized and brought everything over, but one bowl came 5-6 minutes before the other. We shared a super expensive juice, and it was okay, but the Poke just wasn't as good as other places in Madison. The tuna and salmon cuts were simply not fresh. They tasted aged and bland, which is not what you want from expensive sushi bowls. Somehow the rice was even subpar. I would give FreshFin another try if someone asked me to meet them there, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there. The food is expensive and the quality is average at best. Authentic poke can be found closer to State street -- I recommend hungry Poke fans head there. read more

We got the rainbow which was very flavorful, but they forgot to add the avocado. Tuna was pretty bland. As other reviews have noted, the amount of fish is underwhelming, mostly rice and few toppings. read more

This isn't your typical poke place, almost like a fusion on a few of their bowls. Place is really cute and very clean and tidy. You order first and then sir wherever. I'm a value person so I made my own bowl, regular and you still get 2 meat options with that and as many add ons and sauces as you want! Amazing. Everything was fresh to me and they didn't skimp on anything. I also got the smoke salmon app, which I wasn't a fan of, it needed something saucy in there even though it was a spread, I found it kinda dry. I also love the variety of dry seasonings they have available, which is unique to me. For 'dessert' I got the açaí bowl which was a little soupier than other ones I've had but the flavor was there! Not a huge fan of the raisins though. Overall, would definitely come back! read more

First time stopping in after driving past countless times. The space is adorable, albeit a bit small. Menu options are fairly self explanatory. I tried the curry coconut with chicken and brown rice. It was delicious. Great balance of flavors and crunch. It had a little heat too. Drink options are limited so just know that before you head in. It took awhile to receive our food too. Value is worth the money though as the portion was substantial and the quality was good. read more

I am a big fan of FreshFin. First of all the decor is sups cute and I love the wood and big ropes. It is almost wooden ship like, but v trendy. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The serving sizes are generous... I usually get the regular size and it definitely fills me up! My favorite bowl is the Curry Coconut Shrimp. I love that you can either build your own or customize one that is already on the menu. For example, I do half shrimp half chicken and then half brown rice half mixed greens. I also love their juices. I wanted the ginger lemonade (apple, ginger, lemon) one to be my favorite. I wish there was more ginger kick to it. I still need to try the tropical sunrise (orange, pineapple, carrot, lemon ginger) before claiming my favorite. They have deals too! This is my favorite Poké place in the downtown area! It's food is delicious, fresh, and it fills you up without feeling gross! I've had a few of their menu items now, and I haven't had one I dislike. The spicy tuna and mango tango have been my favorite, as they're the raw fish you expect from Poké. I've had the Kailani as well, made with chicken and shrimp, which was good but not what I wanted from this kind of meal. Their curry coconut shrimp is very very good, and I'll order it again, but it's definitely different than what you'd expect at a place like this. The space is beautiful with fun fish decorations, and the staff is always extremely friendly. Overall I think it's a great addition to Madison, and it's very good food. Did not enjoy the fact that you can't see them making your poke bowl like at other poke style restaurants. And they mix the bowl up for you. This may be a personal preference, but I prefer to have the toppings and fish laid on top the rice and to then mix myself. The fish was fresh but you don't get much of it. And I was charged $1.00 for each fish (salmon & tuna) on top of the base price of the bowl. What's the base price for then? Overall, would not recommend. I paid $18 for a bowl that was subpar. read more
