I love how this place is just tucked away and super unassuming! Hidden in a Middleton corner, but clearly not forgotten based upon the number of people present on a Monday sits Taza. It has an extensive menu selection of Mediterranean food and friendly staff. I would have to say that the dips are the star of the show. Getting a combination of a couple or doing one of their platters that gets you a variety is key. The pita bread comes out hot and you can easily share with friends and debate on the best one. The grilled platter we got was also good. The meat wasn't as juicy as I would have liked it, but it hit the Mediterranean flavors well. The rice was more sweet and dry than I typically like my rice, but went well with the meal. The day after it was not good at all though, so that got some point deductions for me. Overall, if you're craving Mediterranean at a chill spot, it's not bad, but it's not the best. I would say 3.5 overall, but 4 for the dips. read more

I was in Middleton, WI a few weeks ago for a work-related reason and I stopped to grab lunch with a colleague here. We had a booth in the back of the restaurant - after walking in the front, there is another section toward the back. I ordered Chicken Kebab for lunch and then also ordered a gyro wrap with fries to go to eat the next day. (This is one of my latest fun things to try by the way - order something to go for lunch the next day - get to try more dishes and saves time - budget allowing, of course!) Service was great. Atmosphere is casual. The bad news I forgot to take pictures. My food was tasty and enjoyable - I had enough for dinner and I really enjoyed my gyro the next day. I got to my hotel around 8pm and wanted to find something quick for dinner. Tara was about 5 minutes away so I decided to give them a try. The staff was friendly as soon as I walked in and I placed my order at the bar. When I asked if they had coke or Pepsi the employee showed me the can of Faygo. Being from Detroit I immediately asked if the owner was from Detroit. The employee didn't know and also didn't know that Faygo is a Detroit staple. My food was ready in about 10 minutes and smelled delicious. The salmon filet dinner is served with rice, hummus and your choice of salad or soup. Everything was cooked well and seasoned. We all ordered the lamb kebab. The people rating this place with 5 stars are fake or have never had good middle eastern food. I realize this Middleton and not Los Angeles, but this was not good. The lamb; This was the most dry, overcooked meat I have ever had. As someone else said it seemed like it had been frozen for two years or that they took meat cooked from a week ago and simply microwaved it. Appalling that this was served! Despite the Palestine support posters out front, I ordered the food and was not disappointed. Shawarma was good, hummus good, salad good, and baklava delicious. I ordered to go, so didn't experience the restaurant, but it was early in the dinner service so it was not very full. This is an off the beaten path Mediterranean restaurant. Hummus and pita are great. Service was fast. The restaurant is older but that wasn't an issue for us. I had the stuffed salmon which just wasn't what I thought I was getting. It was good but a meal cooked in a personal skillet with lots of cheese surrounding the salmon. I was trying to have a nutritious meal and just didn't bargain for the very heavy, fatty cheese baked meal. It was good but next time I'll just stick with the salmon. read more

Appetizers are quite large so be prepared for extra dips and pita. Entrees were also pretty large and SO good. Rice was cooked to perfection, all the meat entrees had so much flavor, just incredible. We had the beef and chicken kebab combo and the Mediterranean shrimp kebab. The beef was incredibly tender and seasoned well. The shrimp was in a delicious tomato sauce, and the hummus was terrific. I stopped by for dinner on a weekday evening. This place is in a quiet complex. The place was busy, but still seats were available. I went for mazza for 2 as the appetizer. It is a lot of food. I would say it can easily substitute an entree. Falafal, Hummus and Muhammara were my personal favorites in mazza. Beef kefta and beef kabob was my entree. Beef kefta was my favorite. We ordered several appetizers before on main lunch items. Delicious! Nice portions on the apps. When the main food came, the portions were very generous. My MIL brought us here for dinner because she is a fan of one of their chicken and artichoke dishes so I really wanted to like it, also because it seems like a small mom & pop shop. The food was okay, not amazing, but the prices on some of the items...??? I don't understand at all. The hummus and pita were good but the hummus serving is really small. I'm not sure if they charged for the second basket of hummus they asked if we wanted and if they didn't, I guess $7 isn't bad. I am STRUGGLING to understand $17.50 for a salad plate sized chicken shawarma meal which came with a yogurt sauce, less than half of that plate was chicken shawarma, and the rest was basically a couple spoonfuls of hummus. This is chicken we're talking about and you woulda been done in 5 forkfuls. In contrast, my husband's beef kabob plate had like 5 decent sized chunks of beef that were pretty yummy, plus rice, plus hummus for $19. The shawarma plate was a salad plate while the kabob was a dinner plate, if that helps with scale. We didn't have to pay for it but I feel bad my MIL did. Atmosphere was ok, it seemed like there were some young adults (teens?) working a shift at the time, but it wasn't crowded or too noisy. It was freezing in there though so bring a jacket if you get cold easily. read more

This may be the best Mediterranean food I have ever had! If you come, you must order the Taza Mazza. We had a group of 4, but ordered the 2 person Taza Mazza and it was perfect. Every single item on the platter was amazing! Next I ordered the Chicken taouk and kefta, which came with rice, hummus and a salad. I am SO full! Finished with baklava, which to me was heavy on the orange blossom syrup (I was not a fan). Lots of other dessert options to try here though, and the food is such high quality that I can't knock them for it. The service was also wonderful. Our server was so sweet. They were attentive with the water too. The inside isn't super exciting, we actually thought it was empty when we first walked in because the front area was empty.
