Not only am I sick (slowly improving), but I'm thousands of dollars in debt, trying to keep a roof over my head, and they left me without an income. I tried and tried again with management to keep in contact while I was out of work but nobody is ever available! So now it looks as though I'm the lazy employee that missed a whole bunch of work, when in reality it was the neglectfulness of the management that has put me in this position. I've never been treated so poorly by an employer in my life. I recommend you NOT work here.

The lack of small carts (they're stolen by people living in the nearby apts for retired/elderly)…read moremeans my mom can't do her big shopping trips. She can't push the large carts, only the small ones. She now puts a basket on her walker and when it is full, she leaves. I'll later take her to another store with carts she can use where she'll do a larger shopping trip. But how many other people in the community have difficulty with the large carts? I know a few people who've had surgery or are awaiting surgery and can't use the big carts easily. Also, the store seems to be chronically understaffed. Even when the store isn't busy, there are carts in the outdoor corrals jutting into the parking lot and jamming traffic. Many times I've gone in and there are no baskets by the front door either. I've had to go to the aisles and find one myself. It doesn't take much for someone to roll a set of baskets back to the front unless you're just not giving staff enough hours or not hiring enough of them. When I had a painful joint issue every extra step hurt so having to search for a basket was sometimes enough to make me just turn around and leave again rather than walk up the aisle looking for a basket. There are solutions that would help people with mobility issues such as wheeling baskets. But I guess that would mean the big wigs at the head store wouldn't be able to buy an extra yacht or something and they may not be able to make record profits yet again. Then there are rising food prices we all could complain about (I noticed that small mixed tomatoes are now 1/3rd the weight they were about 3-4 months ago but going for the same price), but that's not an issue with this store in particular. That's just greedy CEOs taking advantage of disruptions (covid, oil wars) to charge even more than necessary in order to rake in record profits. We're down to just eating 2 meals a day but hey, the DOW is at 50,000. ;)

In the last few months the quality of the butchering snd the freshness of the products have been going downhill. Just today I purchased 2 sirloin steaks ($20) that looked in the package to be excellent. When I went to cook them I discovered that one of the steaks had large sections of fat about 2 inches wide running along the back of the steak. It's grain direction also seemed to change on the back making the steak more like a flank type steak than a sirloin . The steak was very tough, as expected when trying to grill a steak that's been butchered like a flank. This is the second time I have had this issue with this store in as many months. I think this is a very underhanded way to treat your customers. Do better Metro!

Increasingly this is the case and it is an obviously effort to have your customers use the self check out. In my case that will never happen unless you decide to give me an employee discount for my effort. I am fine with a self checkout as an option but if this kind of manipulation continues I will find a store that offers better customer service.

Width of my buggy didn't fit on the exterior sidewalk (immediately in front of the large windows) as they decide to load products out front.
