When you think North Bay, you may think a lot of things, but cafe doesn't necessarily come to mind. But here it is, a lovely cafe that's serving up all the hipster drinks you can find in a big city...and more! The food is so good, we went twice in two days. This place seems popular at every hour of the day. Easy to see why. You've got your typical lattes, cappuccinos and hot chocolate, a couple of specialty ones like the Matcha Green Tea Latte and London Fog. The lattes are strong and delicious, almost like a flat white. The hot chocolate was creamy and decadent. Soy milk doesn't cost extra, which was the best news to my lactose intolerant friend. Food-wise, they've got the tastiest looking breakfasts, which we didn't get to try because they finish serving at noon. What we did try were their fantastic selection of bagels. Specifically, Montreal smoked meat bagel on a real Montreal bagel. How I missed these bagels. Paired with a crisp pickle and soft delicious meat, this was a fantastic meal. They also have handmade pizzas, full of fun flavours like the Mexicano which is served with a black bean sauce and salsa sour cream dip. Delicious baked goods and desserts line the counter. The cookies were fantastic and the pistachio cheesecake, though pretty and tasty, was mostly just cheesy and not pistachio-y. This place has really got a homey, community-centric feel to it. Service was friendly and overall, just a comfortable place to be. Plus, a portion of every sale goes back to helping the community. The coffee was great. I'm giving them a 3 because I asked for the beans to be ground for pour over (which is fine) and they grounded them medium for French press. I was really frustrated because I was going away with no grinder available. And the coffee needed to be reground (can you imagine) once that was all sorted, meaning didn't bring that batch on trip. But when I fixed it the coffee was deeelish!!! Just make sure you know how and what to grind for! read more

Wife and I went for round two. Had a better experience the second time around. She got an Italian soda, I got the usual coffee -- both were good. The turkey sandwich my wife got looked excellent. She really enjoyed it. I asked for my Montreal smoked meat on rye, ended up getting it on a bagel. Not a dealbreaker, I still ate it. Not worth being a bother to have remade or brought to their attention. The place looked like there was a more attention to cleanliness and table bussing, which made for a better experience this time around -- hence why i gave it a stronger review thia time around. Went to Twiggs for breakfast this morning. I ordered the "big breakfast". was given number "19" and told to sit down. So I did. I sat and sat and sat and noticed other people come and go after they ordered food and ate it. Finally I got up an went to the person who took my order originally and told her how I saw people who were there after me get served, eat and leave. So she went to the back- I heard some arguing and she came back out and said "its being remade" NO sorry or anything. Waited another 10 minutes and finally ate. The food was not great. No flavor. If I had to guess I waited at least an hour. Not impressed. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE if you are in a rush or if you like good food- go to Burger World or even McDonalds ATLEAST McDonalds is organised!!! Went for lunch with friends. The place was packed but much to my surprise the line moved quickly and we were able to find a table. I had my favourite pepperoni pizza and decided to try the Italian soda in raspberry flavour. The pizza came hot and delicious. The soda wasn't that good. Just club soda and a hint of raspberry. Afterward I had a chocolate shake for dessert and I have to say they still have one of the best shakes. Look forward to going again. read more

I stop here every time I'm passing through North Bay. Good coffee. I've eaten their smoked salmon sandwich and their pizza. Food is good and prices are reasonable. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is because it always seems to be rammed with students - some not even eating/drinking anymore and I've had to take my food to go because there aren't any tables. I don't normally mind a busy atmosphere (and have nothing against students) but the last two occasions have been exceedingly busy.. That being said, the service is fast and the staff are friendly. I had a terrible experience with Twiggs Coffee Roasters on McKeown Avenue last week. I made an order for delivery, and the employee who took my order forgot to ask for my phone number to give to the delivery person (a third party company). Rather than checking the callback number or asking another Twiggs employee to help, she sent her BOYFRIEND to my personal residence to come and find me. He asked me to text his girlfriend (the Twiggs employee) my phone number from his phone, so that they could make my delivery. At this point, I had been waiting close to an hour for them to deliver my order. After calling and asking for the status of my order, I was rudely told that the delivery person was en route and that there was a "mix up with getting your phone number". When the delivery person arrived, I had been waiting for a total of 1 hour and 25 minutes, for a delivery less than 2 km away. The delivery woman was shocked to hear how long I had been waiting, as she had only received the call from Twiggs about 15 minutes prior. In addition to the very poor and unprofessional delivery service, the flatbread that I had ordered was freezing cold and I had to reheat it in the microwave. The cappuchillo drink that I had ordered was sloppy and completely melted. I phoned the establishment and spoke to a manager, who defended the employee's unprofessional behaviour of sending her boyfriend to my residence. However, she agreed that 1 hour and 25 minutes to make a delivery around the corner was unacceptable, and offered for me to receive my same order for free next time (minus the cake slice). Later that evening, the manager called me again, and informed me that I would not be able to get the cappuchillo for free, but only the flatbread because the cappuchillo was made right before delivery. When I asked if I could receive a refund for the terrible delivery service, she said no. I understand that employees make mistakes, and deliveries are sometimes delayed, but the way this was handled was appalling. Even the manager was unable to address the unprofessional behaviour, and even defended it. I was a frequent Twiggs customer before, but they have certainly lost my business. I would not recommend Twiggs especially for delivery. read more

I love this place. Such a pleasant surprise to have coffee shops like this in a city this size. They also have "real" food: pizza, sandwiches, nachos, which is great. And best of all: No extra charge to substitute non-dairy milk for drinks!! Who does that? Nobody!!! My go to place for lunch every time I'm In North Bay. I love this place with all my heart. The food hits the spot every time and there are tons of gluten free options! They have gluten free breads bagels pizza crust so you're set if you have gluten allergies! I love their smoked salmon sandwich and also the Montreal smoked meat, soups are good, coffee is great, such a warm cozy place. It's a nice enough place, the food is good but don't order 2 entrées as they wont both fit on the small table, it makes it awkward to try to balance your food, talk and drink your drink as people squish by you. It can be a very busy place, the flow isn't quite set up right, if you go in the first time you will be lost as you have to go to the right and to the back to place your order and not stand at the front... The counter staff seems a little frazzled at times as you can stand there and it seems like everyone around you gets served but no one will ask to take your order, or you get asked 4 or 5 times if you would like to place your order. I don't find the staff overly helpful so you best know what you want prior to approaching them, or have someone recommend something but don't make changes to it, it just ticks off the customers around you. Go during off peek times and enjoy a coffee and a dessert, it will be a nice environment then. read more

Stopped in to meet up with a friend here as I was pass Northbay. Service was sub par. Food was ok. I got the feeling if your not a regular your not given as much attention. I just wanted a sandwiches and instead my parter and I went to a 50"s dinner a km down the highway and was served in a timely manner.
