I contacted Karen after finding her on a bridal Facebook group. Karen is the type of person who enjoys what she does and cares about her clients. She is quick in her responses and is the sweetest person to work with. What I loved most about Karen is her responsiveness and transparency from the beginning to end. Karen picks the freshest flowers and sets the right expectations when it comes to pick up. She also helps educate you on the flower seasonality and gives great suggestions. Upon pick up, everything was placed in water without me having to bring a bucket. This was extremely convenient since I had picked up the flowers a day prior to the wedding. This saved me one less stress and everything was nicely labeled for the groomsmen and parents. I would highly recommend and trust me if you live in the San Jose area she is worth the drive up to read more

This review is so long overdue - yet another thing I have to apologize to Karen about. If you're looking for a florist for anything, absolutely anything, just know that you don't have to look any further. If Karen has availability for your event, just book her. She is an absolute master at her craft, but also so humble, warm, genuine, prompt, efficient, and about every other positive adjective you can think of. My husband and I were married last January (2023) and I thought about going down the DIY path when the reality of wedding floral costs hit me square in the face. But then we were already DIYing other aspects of the wedding and I knew that one more thing, especially fragile things like flowers, was going to break me. Thankfully, another bride mentioned Karen and Fresh Petals in a Bay Area wedding Facebook group and I texted her right away. In this day and age you may be wary of businesses that don't have an online presence (website, social media, etc.), but Karen is so responsive and doesn't waste any time figuring out when you can meet at her home in Martinez to discuss the details. Do not let her lack of a digital footprint worry you. She has many photos of her work which is great if you need some inspiration. However, she doesn't push you to go with something she's done before. You can absolutely share your vision with her and she'll let you know what she can/can't do, and also alternatives or additions. One other thing to love is that she has built quite an inventory of items and she is more than happy to lend you things like vases for a deposit. At the end of our meeting with Karen, we simply gave her location and time information for our wedding venue and reception venue and she was there when we needed her to be. Our point people at the venues also commented to me later on on how helpful and personable she was when she came to drop off the arrangements. Now for the apology... there was miscommunication between me and the day-of coordinator and guests ended up getting the message that we were giving away the centerpieces. Seven of them were taken before we were able to reconcile on the messaging and give clarity - the floral arrangement was up for grabs, but not the centerpiece boxes as those were from Karen's inventory. To make matters worse, they were created by a former bride's husband and were a unique set of twenty. My husband and I managed to track down a number of the missing ones, but we ended up not being able to retrieve them all. Karen was disappointed, but still so gracious to me and I honestly feel so, so awful to this day. That said, make sure you're on the same page and very, very clear with coordinators, guests, etc. about what must be returned to Karen or any other vendor. In a nutshell - Karen is wonderful and you cannot go wrong with her on your team! read more

I was initially planning on renting faux flowers due to budget, but we decided to go with a florist since we didn't want to worry about setup. We found Karen through a local group and she came highly recommended. Well, let me tell you - Karen is AMAZING! She was very easy to work with, and her prices cannot be beat because she operates out of her own home. I also loved that she checked in with me on my wedding day to say hello, see how I'm doing, and make sure that I love my bouquet. For our centerpieces, she executed my vision beyond my wildest dreams while honoring my budget. She was one of the easiest vendors we've had the pleasure to work with, and we can't recommend her enough. You won't regret working with Karen! read more

KAREN IS THE FLOWER QUEEN!!! She delivered on our vision in every way and I feel so lucky to have found her for our big day If I had to do it over, I would 1,000% choose Karen every time! - PREP: Karen LOVES flowers! Since we're both in the East Bay, I visited her house and we spent 2hrs+ discussing ideas (& looking at her flower fridge, vases, and decor). Karen respected my vision of wanting a mix of romantic and funky/fun flowers -- with NO ROSES! And she DELIVERED!!! - PRICE: her price was unbeatable! Other vendors were looking to charge 2-3x the price (but definitely did not have the "Karen magic"). Karen had tons of ideas, lists of backup flowers in case seasonality caused things to be out of stock, and was creative in helping us repurpose flowers from the ceremony to the reception in order to cut costs (ie our arch was made out of 6-7 flower bundles that then were cut down during cocktail hour and used as centerpieces). - WHY I LOVE HER: Karen is the sweetest human you will ever meet! She is genuine, wants to create the day of your dreams, and will be as creative as she needs to be to fit your budget! I wish there were more amazing Karen's like her in the world read more

My Mom and I are so happy that we went with Karen as the florist for my wedding! I initially chose to meet with Karen after seeing her great reviews on Yelp and being told that her price is very reasonable. My Mom and I also had a meeting with another florist after but were so impressed with Karen that we decided to use her on the spot after speaking to her and cancelled our meeting with the other florist. Her price is extremely reasonable too as well as transparent and way better than many of the other quotes that we had received up to that point. She told us that she has many years of experience and it really shows in her work! She's also very friendly and offers great suggestions, yet isn't pushy. She was very easy to work with, which both my Mom and I appreciated. I let my Mom be in charge of the flowers, since she herself has some experience in floral design and my Mom was very happy with Karen and told me she brought us just what we envisioned, which I agree with. I loved my bouquet and the vases for the centerpieces were so elegant! If you want beautiful floral arrangements at your wedding at an extremely affordable price, then look no further! Thank you Karen for helping to make my wedding beautiful! read more

I reached out to Karen once more for flower bouquets for my co-workers who were retiring. She did a PHENOMENAL job. A great price, beautiful, breathtaking floral arrangements, a gorgeous vase, and even gave me little cards to add with the bouquet. I'm also able to add my old wedding flower pictures if you'd like to see what she did. She seriously did such a wonderful job. read more

We booked Karen for my bridal bouquet, the wedding party flowers, and the long and low flowers on the sweetheart table. We found her in an SF Bay Area Facebook group where others had written positive reviews of her in the same group. We weren't looking to spend thousands on our florals which seems to be an almost impossible task nowadays. Karen was so helpful in helping us stay within budget while still offering quality work! Karen has extensive experience, she's super friendly, really responsive on Facebook, and very easy to work with. She invited us to her home where she does her floral work and we looked through her many photo books of her work to figure out what we wanted and what kind of flowers and colors we might want to incorporate. She provided lots of suggestions on what flowers might go well together, what flowers come in what colors, ways to cut costs, and how other people have decorated with florals. She also has a large inventory of decor available to borrow if she's helping with florals in those areas. A few weeks before the wedding, we visited her again to go over all the florals and details. On the day of, she dropped off the flowers at the venue and we were good to go. The boutonnieres were laid out in a box with pins and labels for each, and the bouquets were kept in buckets with water. The long and low florals were especially beautiful! Thanks Karen! read more

AMAZING!!! That just about sums it up! Karen is just AMAZING!! I was referred to Karen about two months prior to my wedding and I contacted her in a panic since considering it was only 2 months away I was literally freaking out! Within my first conversation with Karen she calmed us down and simply said no problem I can do it. She took all of my husband's and my ideas and make it come to life. We even randomly came up with the idea of tall centerpieces combined with smaller ones on other tables. Karen is the absolute best and I wouldn't go anywhere else for flower arrangements. We really lucked out in finding the best vendors for our wedding. After a few failed meetings with florists (either they would be non responsive or they give us one quote and then on the final contract add hundreds more than what originally agreed upon), I found Karen on Yelp. I spoke with her on the phone and decided to meet her in person. Karen is such a sweet and lovely person. She is easy to communicate with, flexible with changes, gives great tips and advice on the bouquets I wanted and managed to keep me in budget. I went to a friends wedding in California and one of the best parts of the trip were the beautiful wedding flowers. I am in Texas and have seen many beautiful weddings & flowers, but I must say the flowers from the table arrangements, to the bouquets were all extremely beautiful and a bit different, but not to much so where they didn't look traditional. They just all stood out. I heard the bride many times mentioning how wonderful the lady was working with her & her name was Karen. She also mentioned wonderful pricing. I got all this information second hand, but I was so impressed with the flowers. I just had to leave a review. Anyone in the area able to use Fresh Petals. I couldn't have asked for a better experience working with Karen when planning my wedding! Aside from knowing my color palette (which consisted of 5 colors!) I didn't know squat when it came to picking out flowers or arrangements. I just knew I didn't want my bridal bouquet to look like a tree. Karen was phenomenally amazing. Extremely warm and welcoming, very communicative right away, and definitely knowledgeable. Having a summer wedding, she knew what flowers would hold up better in the heat. What's more is she was honest with me about what choices of flowers were more expensive. I gave her little bits of preferences and she worked with them. My entire wedding was beautiful because of Karen!!! The centerpieces, the boutonnieres, the corsages, the bouquets, the altar piece that was attached to the gazebo where we said our voice- everything looked elegant, full, romantic, plush, and yet still fun and colorful. KAREN YOU'RE THE ABSOLUTE BEST!!! :) I will add pictures when I get a chance. read more

I can't rave enough about Karen and Fresh petals!!! My flowers were amazing the day of my wedding. She did 8 bouquets, 11 boutineers, 3 corsages and my bouquet was a cascade bouquet. On top of all that she did a beautiful arrangement for the archway that we took down and put at the head of our table. I chose all white roses with a little greenary and I was blown away! I wish my pictures were back so I can post them. She was also very affordable and I met with her twice. The first time to brainstorm my ideas based on pictures, and the last meeting to finalize. I can't express how amazing she was. Very professional, organized and her artistry with flowers is beautiful. I would highly recommend her to anyone for any event! Karen did an EXCEPTIONAL job for my wedding. She was intentional, understanding, vision-seeking along with my husband and I leading up to our wedding. I could not believe the prices she broke down for us, especially since her service was above and beyond. Our fees included purchase of all the flowers, labor, and delivery. We had a HUGE wedding party, and my hands were tied in creating floral decoration so I thought to hire a florist. We needed close to 30 boutineeres, 12 bouquets, a couple flower crowns and corsages, 30 centerpieces, and a garland for our arbor. For that many items PLUS delivery, I could not believe her prices. Many in my area (Fairfield) were so out of our price range. With out big wedding, we tried to keep it simple so we could stick to our budget. Karen did just that. She is also a sweet human being that works out of her home. I'm so thankful I found her on yelp! If you don't have time to create pieces for your wedding, I'd hire Karen! read more

Karen provided the flowers and more for our wedding. I say "and more" because, as I thought we were coming to the end of our initial meeting with her, she said "would you like to see the bling I have out in my shed?" At the word "bling" I saw my fiance's eyes glaze over and her face glow with enthusiasm. Karen showed us much wondrous bling, from which we selected various vases for our centerpieces. The point is that Karen is not just fantastic as a florist but also as a decorator and someone who will share your enthusiasm for your wedding. Her florals and other decorations were beautiful.
