If I could give less than a single star, I would. I have had better Asian food from a can of La Choy, and frankly, my Kung Pao chicken tasted like it came from one. We ordered pan fried dumplings which had been deep fried then pan seared on one side, albeit briefly. The dumpling wrapper was so thick that I could have made a wallet from it. It wasn't even fork tender and the pork filling tasted like Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage. The egg roll had no flavor at all. The Kung Pao had canned mushrooms, stale peanuts, no chilis and was a gloopy mess of chili oil and soy. The fried rice was mahogany brown, contained no egg, no vegetables and three tiny chunks of pork. It was an uninspired salt bomb. We would have been better off burning $40 instead of paying for this mess of a meal. I wouldn't even compost this. read more

I love this place. It's our local go to. Egg rolls always crispy and not greasy. Have tried just about everything but Singapore rice noodles and the Thai Hot Basil with Beef are my two favorites. Chicken wings that come with combo meals are good too. Fried rice is a little soy sauce heavy but I'm not gonna lie I like that too. Never disappoints and never upsets my stomach. Reopened and will never go back... prices went way up, quality went way down. Chicken was soggy my boxes were melted, and it didn't even taste good. Crab Rangoon's had 0 crab in them. Substituting pork fried rice with my general tso's chicken for 4 bucks? Yeah no thanks. Could have have a better meal from the Hampden dump. Bangor's Chinese food options were extremely underwhelming until I found Fresh Ginger. If you've had Chinese in cities like New York and D.C., small town Chinese will rarely measure up. I only found out about this restaurant because a very nice woman left their menu at my place of work. I've ordered various items from them and none of them have disappointed me. I will say one thing. Their dishes do not have the color you would expect. Many Chinese dishes are yellow if they're curries, fried rice is darker, some options are red. The food here really lacks color, but the flavor is there, so don't be disappointed at first look. Both times, my food was delivered by the same kind woman and her daughter. They are very friendly. I have only ever ordered delivery from them, so I do not know how the restaurant looks and how the service is inside. read more

We decided to give Fresh Ginger Fusion another try and it was not any better. My wife had the beef and vegetables and there were only about 3 or 4 small slivers of beef. I ordered the General Tso's chicken and while it was not horrible, it was not nearly as good as it used to be. I'm giving it two stars for the location, but really wanted to give it 1. Though the prices are decent, the food is terrible with the service being okay. My husband and I went in for lunch one day and though there were literally only two other tables our food took forever, our server wasn't prompt, and everything was so greasy and tasteless. The dumplings were huge, but skimpy on the filling. So doughy and greasy. I had a Pu Pu Platter for one, the fried shrimp was tiny with tons of breading, there was way too much fat on the boneless ribs, the beef teriyaki tasted like it had turned, and the hot mustard had zero heat behind it. Sadly we won't be back to Fresh Ginger, regardless of the convenient location. read more

This place is a mix of good food and so so food. I would say their chicken fingers are good, not too greasy and nice and crispy. Their general tso's isn't sickly sweet but has the right mix of sauce and has a very good texture. Their pad thai is just awful and I don't even know why they bother selling it, way too much nuts and not enough meat. I find them to be about %25 above the price of a regular chinese place. Wait times on average for pick up is about 25 minutes. I wouldn't actually go and wait inside the restaurant, it's painfully long. Overall I find the experience good but the prices are above average, and therefore I consider the value to only be ok. read more

The food is okay. We have been going because it's the closest halfway decent take out. My big problem today is that we called at 3:01pm and they wouldn't let us have the combo meals. We used to be able to get them any time. Now we can't have them after 3. We are a family of five and used to go there a lot. Now, though, I think we will go elsewhere or stay home. I have eaten at Fresh Ginger multiple times and they definitely have some of the best Asian food in the area. Breaded chicken dishes are breaded lightly, the sauces are delicious, flavorful, and contain tons of fresh vegetables. I recommend the Hunan Chicken if you like a little spice. Their lo mien and Thai dishes are also great, and the crab rangoon are awesome! The prices are very reasonable especially for portion size (large will easily feed two). We get take out mostly as restaurant decor could really use some updating. Otherwise, I give Fresh Ginger two thumbs up. read more

I had Orange Chicken, pork fried rice, and an egg roll tonight. I usually enjoy their food greatly. The egg roll and rice were good, as always, but the orange chicken was so over-cooked it was dry like sticks inside the batter. I threw it out and called them to let them know. This restaurant is recently under new owners. I have tried to continue my business despite their high prices but will not be eating there again after my experience this evening. After making my toddler her dinner and finally sitting down to the General Tsos chicken I had ordered, I soon realized that the meat was pink inside. Multiple pieces. I called to let them know and I was told by a young girl that she was sorry and would let the cook know. Before she hung up I quickly asked her what their policy was, or how they would handle my undercooked food that I could not eat. After putting me on hold she said that I would have to bring in my dinner to get it evaluated. After asking to speak to the manager, the manager did not apologize. Instead she said I would have to bring it in to prove my food was pink. I told her that I had been a frequent customer and that I was not able to come and bring the meal back after already driving there once that evening. (Meanwhile my toddler is done with her meal crying in the background.) She said that she would have to see it with her own eyes because this does not happen a lot at their restaurant. Beyond frustrated to be called a liar, have $15 wasted and eat leftovers to conclude my Friday night. Overall , this place has horrible customer service and overpriced food that is not anywhere near as good as the former Fresh Ginger. Treat your customers with some decency and you will get a lot further. read more

We waited a couple of months before trying the new place out. The prices are extremely high. We found much lower prices in Bangor and Ellsworth. To the food quality. After searching for a very long time we decided on this place only to be completely disappointed. I ordered the Cantonese noodles and the noodles tasted like they had been sitting since the day prior or two and has gone bad .The shrimp and vegetables were actually great .The pork dumplings were rancid and almost made my brother throw up ,Not exaggerating .The beef teriyaki was not cooked and I have no idea what sauce was used but it was awful !! I called to ask to get something in exchange as these things mentioned where not touched other then to spit them back up and the anger there just threw a "All I can do is give you ten percent toward your next purchase with the worst attitude !! We are incredibly disappointed. We have been regulars at Fresh Ginger ever since we moved to Hampden a decade ago and we have always had nothing but positive experiences here. However, they closed down for a couple of months this past spring and, when they reopened, they had been renamed "Fresh Ginger Fusion." Ever since then, the food has been horrible and their prices have definitely gone up. I'm not sure if they have new owners or are under new management since reopening or what the deal is, but this is definitely NOT the same Fresh Ginger that we have known and loved for so many years. I ordered my usual, which is the beef and vegetables, and there was hardly any beef in it (I think I counted 3 whole pieces), the veggies were totally under cooked, and the rice was dry. Also, the crab rangoon had next to nothing in them. My husband was not happy with his meal either and said that the egg rolls were horrible, and he always used to love Fresh Ginger's egg rolls and said they were some of the best he's ever had. Now, they are all soggy and disgusting. We figured that maybe it was just a fluke or that we had gone on an off day, because this was the very first poor experience that we've ever had in the 10 years we've been coming here, so we decided to give it another chance and went back a few weeks later, but the food was even worse the second time around. It wasn't even very hot. It's a real shame. This used to be an excellent establishment with great food that was always piping hot and fresh and it has been our go-to Chinese restaurant for years. I've been getting takeout from Fresh Ginger for five years now. They have the best crab Rangoon I've ever tasted. The General Tso's chicken is great, too. The fried pork dumplings have great flavor, but the dough is a little thicker than I prefer. The decor inside could use some work, but they're quick with the takeout orders so I'll give them a pass on that. read more

Under new management. We moved to Hampden in 2012. We gave the last Fresh Ginger restaurant a couple of tries. It was terrible. Service, food, almost every category. Stopped going to the old place years ago. Friend mentioned a new team and never looked back. Yes, a bit pricey but been there a few times and haven't had a bad meal yet. The family is liking it so much, they don't want to have Chinese anywhere else. Had several different dishes, all great. Best is to sit in but take out was just as good. The containers are bigger than other places so there is a difference. The wings are great, looking forward to trying the curries at some point but the Singapore Mei Fun keeps bringing me back. My youngest tends to be a bit picky but she's looking for 2 different dishes just to have leftovers. When doing take-out, just review your order on the phone and at pick up. Really happy with this new addition to Hampden. Closed on Sundays. Really don't understand other reviews. I've had Chinese all my life, all over the world, and this is definitely a top ten place. read more

yep a little expensive not brutal - food quality good was General Tso- chicken wings and fingers and rice. BAD/HORRIBLE was both the beef and chicken terryaki also my wife questioned several times if they gave hot mustard and enough sweet and sour sauce, she asked for a couple of containers since we bought $95 worth of food - the woman started getting rude with her and yelling- well guess what no mustard and no sauce - Sorry I didn't read those other posts earlier- and there is no way in hell some one has been there many times and can give this place 5 stars read more

Located in an older building that could use some TLC but WOW!! Don't be put off by first impressions or you'll miss out on a great meal. The food was incredible and the service could not have been better! I had the "build your own" so I decided on pork fried rice, cashew chicken and an egg roll...the cashew chicken was as good or better than any I've had in Thai restaurants!! This is the worst dining out food I've ever had, not just worst Chinese food- but worst food period. I'd rather go to taco bell and eat a bean burrito. Wow. Just wow. What in the world has happened to this place? We just ate here for the first time since they reopened under their new name of Fresh Ginger "Fusion" and it was a downright terrible experience. The prices have gone way up and the food quality has gone way down. The chicken fingers were excessively greasy, the lo mein and rice were both very dry, and the crab Rangoon was greasy and almost completely void of any crab. On top of the horrible food, the service also left a lot to be desired. Our waitress never came back to check on us or refill our drinks, which we desperately needed after all of that bland, dry food. We are very disappointed. This has been one of our favorite Chinese restaurants for many years, but it appears they are now under new management and have horrible new chefs, who have completely ruined this place. This used to be a very affordable place to get excellent food, but now it is just overpriced garbage. Fresh Ginger should have left well enough alone. Everything was perfect the way it was before all these changes. If it's not broken, don't fix it! We will not be back. read more
