Revisit? 100% yes!…read more Salad bar is clean and well organized. Everything offered is fresh and carefully chopped. They have my beloved beets and cold rotini, and the ranch is delicious. Since I last went to the Rancho location in 2024, I think the soup bar has gotten even better. The noodles in the chicken soup are now just like the ones I remember at Souplantation. The cream of mushroom is so tasty, with big slices of mushroom. I would even say the soups here are better than at OG Souplantation because I used to skip most of them back in the day. But here I will gladly eat any. Pasta dishes, foccaccia, and muffins are great. I didn't see any dried-out cheese bread left on the board. Big thumbs-up! Dining room and bathroom were clean. The staff did a great job taking our empty plates. I'm crossing my fingers that another Soup 'n Fresh will open closer to the Long Beach area. MAY 2026: No wait in line to get in on a Thursday around 11:30 am. Easy to find a table.

I went for a weekday lunch and there was no wait even though it was busy inside, so +1 for ample seating. They have raised prices a buck or two, but they do have BOGO coupons on their Facebook that I was able to make use of. The cashier seemed familiar with the offer at first, but then instructed me to do some random stuff, like to respond to the Facebook Messenger chatbot with my numeric total charge. This was not necessary; you just need to select the prompt that says "Redeem in-store." I enjoy salad so I had a good experience, but a lot of the offerings fell flat for me that day. The shredded carrot salad is usually my favorite thing to get but it tasted so weird. I don't know if the recipe was changed but it was very sour, maybe too much vinegar? My partner likes the chicken noodle soup but told me there was basically no chicken in it, and I had a similar time trying to find any slivers of egg white in what seemed like a serving tray full of mashed yolks. The pizza and garlic bread were a lot cheesier than they are at Rancho where they are more dry and cardboardy. I think most people would enjoy that but I found the taste and smell of the butyric acid to be too overpowering, personally. On the plus side, the pasta was good. I always like to add some cheese and vegan bacon bits to the spaghetti. I would also recommend getting a brownie or cornbread muffin and putting some soft serve on it to end your meal. There's lots of fun things you can do to customize your food here, which is one of the things draws me back, even if I think I'll stick to the Rancho place going forward.

It's a family tradition to stop by here before we continue on our road trip to Las Vegas. Been doing that every since I was a kid and up until adulthood until my parents decided it was better if they just went on vacation on their own without me and my brother. I believe they got big enough to absorb the restaurant right next door. Service is as with most other Asian places. They're there, you get food, and that's that. Sometimes by the fact of just being Vietnamese you can converse with other Viets, but they don't push it here. Perfect, casual ambiance. But can get busy for the lunch rush, at least when we visited. As always, I get the Pho Tai, my go to for every pho place. Super flavorful and full tasting broth, decently tender enough meat with a normal amount (not too generous, but not skimping out either). Noodles had the perfect texture. You get all of the veggies and other toppings quite generously as well. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here, but for the times I visited it hit the spot.

As far as Korean soups go, this place is great. I enjoy the side dishes, and I actually enjoy the fact that I get just a few but they're all good. The radish is my favorite! This spot is generally no frills, efficient service, and not too crazy of a wait. Service is generally quick and attentive, but they're straight to the point and aren't looking to idly chat. I'm a fan of that, personally, so it works well for me. For a solo eat, or a large group, this is a solid spot. The flavors are there and the fact that it's 24/7 is extremely convenient.

I've been to their other locations and they're all consistent in their service and quality of food. A good amount of seating, but I have been here when there's a wait. Late night eating is usually not a problem. Get their broths or stews, can't go wrong with either. Our usual is the #3 soup and the Galbi Jjim. You can get the Galbi Jjim with cheese - which is quite a show. I prefer it without. The medium size is good enough for 4 people. You can choose spice level and we get medium - it has good flavor and spice, but not too spicy where you can't enjoy. Sun Nong Dan is a solid place and worth adding to your list of places to eat.
