The taste of the donuts is excellent and reminds me of old donut shops growing up when I was a kid. The dough was fluffy and tasted great, and the flavorings and icings were very flavorful but not too sweet like some of the places today. The owners were very friendly and you could see the pride in their place. I highly recommend anyone that enjoys donuts to try this place. I am so happy that we did. I had to come back and edit this as I ate the apple fritter after I wrote this. No lie, the best apple fritter I have ever had. Wow!!!

However, once I entered it had a very strong odor that was very displeasing. I don't know how to explain but it almost smelled as old grease and no clean ventilation was passing through. It was really hard to order and I didn't even glance at the donut choices because of the odor. The owner was very nice and had great service, the donuts themselves were huge and great value. Pretty good, definitely not fresh from the morning but still good. I'd want to give higher stars but the odor definitely made it hard to want to spend more time inside.

I decided on a couple of donuts, a Glazed and a Bavarian Crème that had chocolate on top, and a small coffee. Turned out on the day I was there you get a free donut when you purchase a coffee. The donuts were large. The glazed wasn't as airy as you may find elsewhere but it was sweet and fine. The other donut was excellent, lots of chocolate and inside there was lots of crème. I liked them both. Service was good, the person may not have been a bubbling over with joy individual but interacted very well with me and other customers that came in later while I sat at one of their tables enjoying my food. Yes, there was a 4% service charge, probably credit card related, that was not disclosed anywhere except maybe on the payment screen. Normally I would rant about that and even take away a star, but looking at my receipt it only cost me 18 cents so I'm not going to care very much this time.

The donuts are really large and I didn't have any issues with the amount of filling in mine. The service was very good. The negatives are as another reviewer mentioned that the texture of their donuts is dense and cake like as opposed to light and fluffy. I ordered 3 different donuts and they placed them tightly (sideways) in a bag so when I got home, all of the icing on one had come off and was sticking to the bag. I would give them another chance but I suspect that nothing is going to change regarding the density of their donuts which doesn't work for me. The other issue is easily corrected by putting all orders that have icing, flat in a box instead of a bag.

The gluten friendly were vanilla and not sure if they ever offer anything else in that line. However, the vanilla were delicious! More like a Crawler than a glazed donut and that was fine by me! :-). Although they had a sign that said gluten-friendly, the actual donuts were behind the counter, so don't worry if you don't see any, just ask. The staff is happy to assist. I spent near $30 and most of it went to the trash as they were hard and not fresh at all. There was only one young man working, and while nice, he seemed bored and uninviting. Needless to say, I wouldn't return unless they get a covered donut display at least.
