Still an effortless 4.5 for me. I continue to believe that the French Brasserie is underrated. I've eaten here five times now for five excellent experiences. Had the lunch special again. A steal at under $40. My rillette was superb. My salmon equally superb. Add a lovely space and decor and polite, efficient and affable staff and you've got a winning combination. I can barely find fault. I love it. Second visit My second visit here and a second great experience. The restaurant is nicely tucked away in a lane. It's a pleasant and simply decorated space. I had the lunch special which was excellent and good value for money. Entree was the salmon rillette. Main course was fish. Both were outstanding and very tasty indeed. The accompanying one glass of wine I had was a chardonnay and very nice it was too. The staff were great. Pleasant, efficient and throughly professional with a (hopefully) authentic French accent thrown in. I couldn't have been happier and my companions felt similarly. This is a really nice place. They do what they do extremely well and at reasonable prices. As a result, it will continue to prosper. From a visit 5 months ago Went today for lunch. Nice little restaurant/bistro. Pleasant little space part way down a lane. The lunch special for $35 was good value I thought. I had the terrine for enter and fish for main with a glass of Chardonnay. The food and wine were lovely. Service was quite good too. Water was tipped up regularly and interactions were pleasant. Nice to hear some French accents. I would very happily return here.

Simple traditional French dishes like my Dad loves to goes on about from his childhood. I chose the fillet de bouef. My thickly cut tender yearling eye fillet was seared to a firm crust on its surface yet carved smoothly like pate under my knife. An elegant smear of ruby red beetroot purée gave a hint of sweetness to the delicate meat. It was exactly what I felt like. The dish is normally accompanied by a long block of potato salardaise; potatoes cooked in duck fat. I was unfortunately informed that the potato contained gluten or onion, I can't quite remember, but basically it wasn't suitable for me. They served us an extra dish of French fries to make up for this.

Bit of a random location, but setup beautifully with friendly staff that make you want to come back. Had the seafood stew, and it was excellent.

My fiancé and I came in for dinner on a Saturday night, to celebrate her 30th birthday. Booking is a must and it was a breeze to do so via their online booking form on their website. We had opted for the desgustation with wine pairing, and we were amazed with every course that came out. First course to dessert the food and wine was delicious. Making wish it was socially acceptable to lick my plate clean. From the moment you walked in, you were greeted warmly and welcomed by all staff who had such alluring French accents. I wanted to highlight our waitress, Sarah, who made our night memorable, with her candour and great service. This wasn't just our table but for all the tables she was looking after around us. Also thank you for putting a little birthday candle on my fiancé's dessert course.

My wife and I are big fans of French food, so much so we travel to France whenever we can. I would have to say this is the most french experience we have had in Melbourne, from the french speaking waiters to the french styled (and sized) dining room to the classic french dishes. Everything we ate was typically french - no fusions thankfully - and delicious to boot. Would recommend the cucumber soup and the steak tartare. Special mention to the manager - the complimentary drink at the end of the night was incredibly generous and most appreciated. We will be back.

this place rocks traditional french cuisine at a reasonable price ambience excellent, staff polite and helpful, wine selection great, food plates and choice of menu fantastic best part about this place is the surprise of how excellent the dishes are from what you believe you have ordered the attention to detail of how each dish is prepared cooked and presented as one would expect of a 2 hat restaurant. Easily one of the best French Restaurants in Melbourne/Australia. The sauces are not over done as with many French Restaurants hiding the main ingredients - if French is your go then this needs to be on your list.

Always a pleasure to dine at this authentic French bistro hidden down a Melbourne laneway. Duck confit with lentils a classic French treat.

We were looking for a restaurant that was less touristy than many of the others along the laneways,…read moreand we came upon Tipo 00 so we made a reservation. We're glad we did! Here's what we noticed: - It was difficult to get a reservation at prime dinner hour, so we opted for a 3:30 PM late lunch/early dinner which worked out perfectly for our schedule. - The place overall has a great vibe, good music, and it is pretty small. - There were some really interesting drinks and good wines to choose from...we went with wine since we had other plans later that evening. - We decided to start with the salad with pear and honey, and then my wife and I split both the black squid ink pasta, and the special pasta that had Moreton Bay Bugs. The salad was incredible perfectly dressed... Having it first gave us away as Americans for sure, but it was perfect. The squid ink pasta was every bit as good as everyone said in reviews, and so was the special pasta. - Service was great, not overbearing. They even brought us some extra bread so we could sop up the sauce from our pasta. Bottom line: There are so many great restaurants in Melbourne and Tipo 00 is right up there and should be on your "to try list".

Sat at the bar and enjoyed wine, complementary focaccia, an appetizer of fried zucchini flowers,…read morethe tortellini for our entree then their house brownie tiramisu for dessert. Delicious meal from start to finish, excellent service and one of the best Italian meals we've had. Highly recommend.

Cute little Korean restaurant on Rose Lane, the "new laneway" in the Upper West Side building…read more Korean Table is surrounded by I Love Chicken, Hakoya Ramen, Kyoto Mart, and Rolling Nori - and it holds its own for sure! I came here on New Years Day for dinner. The menu is 6 pages long, but there is a picture of every dish, which makes it really helpful to decide (I assume especially if you're not Korean). I kept it classic and went with the beef bibimbap, and boy am I glad I did! The only adjustment I made was no bean sprouts. Served in a sizzling hot stone bowl, you'll have to control yourself for a couple of minutes to let the rice continue to cook and get all crispy on the edges. The server was quite sweet and asked me if I knew how to eat it when she delivered the bowl. I sheepishly said, "um, mix it all together?" and she nodded in approval and skipped away. All of the ingredients and flavors blended together perfectly, aided by a generous helping of gochugang (sweet/spicy red sauce). I added a grapefruit soju to wash it down. Like many places, you'll self serve cutlery (chopsticks, spoons, napkins) as well as water from the counter. Someone takes your order either at the register or your table (didn't seem to be rhyme or reason to which or why), and then drops off your food when you're done. Space is tailored to groups of 2 or 4, though one group of about 6 or 7 kids came in together looking worse for wear after NYE. Prices are about $15 each for most entrees. The food was delicious (see photos) and I will be back!
