The crew at FS is very cordial and knowledgeable. They always greet with a smile. We both purchased weapons and processed our concealed carry permits through them. Special thanks to Susan for assisting and processing our paperwork We have joined the membership plan and enjoy shooting nearly every weekend. I have joined the She Shooters, which is lead by Beth and Stephanie and has great topics and information monthly Christine (and Roy)

Brought my daughter and her friend as a birthday surprise. This was a first time for them. The staff was very friendly. If it's your first time you need to register using the kiosk. Then you are set up in a room to watch a training video. The end of the video gives you a code to get a discount. You select a fire arm. Afterwards an instructor comes in with that gun, and fake bullets, to ensure you know what to do. When you go back to the counter, they take your ID to get you set up. You are given a bucket with your chosen gun, you choose a target, bullets, ear plugs, etc. By the time all of that was done and they were given the bucket, it was about 2:49 pm. I asked if there was going to be someone in the range area to help them set up. I was told people come by to check, but if someone stays that's called personal training and cost $100. I tried to pay for the 1 hr session. I was told you pay afterwards. Ok. Cool. I went outside to wait. They go shoot, have a good time, come back out when it's 4pm. So here is why Free State lost a star. I really want to take away two stars. My daughter & her friend went to the register and paid. (They should've waited for me). When I looked at the receipt I was confused by why it's over $100. Why are they being charged $40 for the 1st shooter, and $22 for the second shooter, when they were only down there an hour? The price is supposed to be $20 for the first shooter and $11 for the second. So they go back inside to speak with someone. They are told that the time started at 2:49pm. They didn't finish until around 4:02pm. The system only recognizes hourly time, so they were charged for a whole 2nd hour. We weren't going to argue with anyone in a room full of firearms. So we left. This was disappointing, because the time must start when they give you the bucket, not when you get to the range. If this is the case, Free State should explain that. Since the booking was for 3pm, we figured that's when the time started. - This is also why they tell you to pay at the end. I was clear that it was only to be for ONE hour, since we had other plans. The discount for first timer was also not on the receipt. All in All they had fun, but we won't go back. I do not frequent establishments with deceptive billing practices.

This was my first time visiting a gun range, and it was amazing! The instructor was super helpful. He made sure to explain everything and to make sure you're as comfortable as you can be before you go into a lane. They teach you how to hold a gun, how to load a gun, how to point, shoot, and take everything apart once you're done. The gun rentals are very reasonable, and so is the lane. Beginners have to watch a quick safety video prior to handling any pistols. It was very informative and about 10 mins long. Come early to do that, because it will eat away at your time on the range. It is an indoor range, where you can take off your mask inside the shooting range, due to the pressurized air. Which was great! The targets are $1 each, and after your first time, you are able to rent a larger pistol. They start everyone off with the smallest pistol, a .22. They have a large assortment you can choose from, and you can also bring your own gun in as well. I felt comfortable, i felt as if the instructor was clear, and knowledgeable, and most of all, i felt safe. I will definitely try to come visit again. This was fun, and i highly recommend! I had the most fun!

Ask the Community - FreeState Gun Range

I'm looking to get my Handgun Qualification License. I heard Freestate offers the class and fingerprints for $160. Is the application fee included?

No, $160 includes the class and fingerprints. You will have to pay $50 to the Maryland State Police directly when you apply online.

My wife brought me to GUNTRY for my birthday, and it was an awesome experience from start to finish. We kicked things off with a simulation session, which was so cool. I am already planning to do it again. The shock pack that zaps you when you get hit is wild. It is a little crazy, but honestly really fun to try. We spent an hour at the range afterward. It is definitely loud and a bit tight, but it gets the job done. The staff was friendly, patient, and very helpful the whole time. The retail shop is huge too, with tons of firearms and accessories to browse. We ended the night at their cigar and whisky event, and that was a great time. The whisky was strong and plentiful, and dinner was delicious. It was all catered in house by the cafe. Pricing is pretty reasonable overall. Their lesson rates seem lower than a lot of other places I have seen, although I have not had a chance to take one yet. My only complaint is that I wish it were closer. I live in DC, so it is definitely a trek, but it was worth the drive.

There is an Armory for weapon issues if needed, WELL TRAINED, range instructers, and an unbelievable cafeteria for after you shoot with an EXCELLENT menu! Training classes, safety classes, advanced classes, female only classes and more not to mention severly discounted prices for joining of of the many Club Membership options. I recommend with 5 Stars ABSOLUTELY!

All they did was close it off over 1 year ago and it has sat untouched ever since. I mean c'mon they won't even let a group of volunteers pitch in for all the materials and labor and fix it for free (just to get it done some time this millennium), but they will let it sit there and rot? hell, I'm even an engineer, spent my life on a thousand ranges, worked construction my whole career and still I'm not allowed to pay for the materials and use a volunteer group to repair it? This whole thing stinks of politics. Can't we keep the politics out of some things? My kids loved to learn gun safety and shoot at that range. How far are these democrats going to push us? I need all the Faith and Flag Conservatives who enjoy their 2nd amendment rights to help out here. Lets stop all the Dems BS! Help me organize a group of volunteers and petition city hall for immediate permission to get that range going again?..(for starters). If you think you would like to help and or you are politically savvy and know the right people to contact regarding this high jacking of our 2nd amendment rights or would just prefer to donate your time in labor or financial donations, please contact me via email.
