I had a shindaiwa brush cutter that was bogging down and probably needed the carb cleaned. Figured I would drop it off here as I don't use it regularly. I know the guy has many years in the industry and figured it was the best place to take it for service. I was told it would be 2 weeks. I waited 3 weeks then came to pick it up and was told he was waiting on a part. He seemed annoyed that I was even asking if it had the repair was completed. So I waited some more weeks then called and was told same thing, waiting on a part to arrive. Waited weeks again then showed up to pick it up. I was told that the fuel wouldn't prime and he said he didn't know how to fix it. What??? It was running when I dropped it off! I thought he was waiting for a part? Why wasn't I called when he ran into trouble? He decided he couldn't fix it then just sat on it, waiting for me to come pick it up?? When I show up I'm told he just can't fix it, doesn't know why doesn't have any answer for me and he hands me a bag of parts. He rips off the new carburetor he installed and just leaves my tool there on the floor next to a bag of parts. My tool that I needed weeks ago, dropped off months ago, is in pieces. I have never heard of such a thing. I'm new in the landscape industry and I'm busy and struggling with scheduling and managing costs and maintaining equipment. All the things that come with running a landscape business. I didn't expect that the tool repair shop would set me back so far and offer no apology or advice or anything useful whatsoever. I'm so shocked that I don't even know how to review this place. Did this really just happen? Freeport power equipment said 2 weeks to service my brush cutter, ended up spending 2 months taking it apart, then gave it back to me in pieces. No phone call updates, no checking in to explain the delay. Zero customer service. Zero care about the quality of my experience or its effect on my business. If you aren't already a familiar customer of theirs, I get the feeling you're of no value to them and you'll get nothing but bad attitude, wasted time, and in my case, you get your tool back in far worse condition than it was in when you dropped it off. I thought my lawnmower would be fixed after they held it for longer than a month. Instead I come there and the owner is telling me he couldn't fix it and I'm like why you didn't call me and let me know. I recently had new sod installed and wanted a newly sharpened blade on my lawnmower to cut it cleanly. I took my lawnmower at 8 am and I was told it would be ready at 10 am. I went to the gym and was done at 9:30 am. I called and it was ready. Only $10 to remove the blade and sharpen, what a deal, if you take the blade in $5. I have previously tuned up my machine for a reasonable price. If you want a good honest repair for a good price come here. They have good customer service but if you want sugary sweet customer service you will be disappointed. I am not disappointed it is a repair service. I showed up with my mower and asked about having it repaired after my brother got a pipe. The Karen at the front desk came out to look at it, gave me a ticket and said if they could fix it, the will and call me in 7-10 days, otherwise if they couldn't they would call and tell me to pick it up. I asked if there was any kind of estimate possible and she said they don't do that, they'll call me after it's done. I asked if they could call before they started work, she said they don't do that and will call after it's done and tell me how much. I gave the ticket back and took it down the street to Linares repair shop instead. About a year ago my mom's mower stopped working. We called and brought it over and met with the Asian man who owns it. He said flat out it was the carburetor and it wasn't worth the time and money to order it. We found the part for $90 and had it within 8 days. It's pretty much a hobby for him and he operates the place at his own time and pleasure. 100% will not be going back. Will continue to go to Linares Lawnmower repair down the street on Fruitridge instead. read more

Had an issue with my mower that was only a year old. Other places didn't answer the phone and others had long return times. Freeport Power Equipment answered on the first call and said I could take it right in. I live in Galt so it was a bit of a drive but worth it. Brought in two lawn boys. Both had different issues. One sat for a few years and just wouldn't start. The other would start but would stop running after a few seconds. Called to see if I need to make an appointment but was told to just bring them in. They were both fixed in about a week. Make sure to keep your receipts as they will be needed to collect. Very reasonable price to fix both. Definitely recommend!!! read more

I took my Honda tiller in because it was smoking badly. I got a reasonable estimate prior to taking it in. It was ready about a week later, and came in under estimate, all cleaned up like new. I put it to use the next day and runs very well. Happy customer. read more

This is a place that had one chance to gain my business and lost it. I brought in my old but absolutely dependable Echo Weedeater to have the broken trigger/throttle control replaced. I walked in the door and the older Asian man greeted me and I said I needed a throttle control and annual tune-up. He laughed and said, "No way, too old.". I then went straight home and did a google search for the part. It was 79 cents online. I ordered and it took a few days to get to me. The installation took about 4 minutes, if that. So because he didnt want to take the time to research the part he lost the money on that repair, and the rest of my lawn equipment. Blower, edger, mower, etc...All of my equipment gets annual tune-ups for the season and now I'll take my business elsewhere. Too bad, because I really like spending money in the neighborhood I live in at local businesses. read more

I have used these guys three times now. First time was a few years ago, I don't remember what it was. About six months ago I took in an MTD mower with a Honda engine. I knew the valve was stuck because of bad gas, but I did not want to try and fix it. They were very reasonable. I think it was $30, which included a new filter. About two weeks ago I took in an old snapper high vac mower and an old craftsman edger that came with a rental house I purchased. They both needed quite a bit of work and parts. Both of them were fixed for a total of around $100. Understand the process. Realize you may not be called immediately when they are ready. You will need your claim check. read more

Rude and unprofessional. I was there with my uncle today and asked them for repair the mower. They told us we need to call before being the item over and they refused to take the job, okay fine I get that. And then we went to the selling side of the store and ask the girl in the front desk the prices of the machines. She just simply ignored us! I was like I how fucking rude! No price tags on the merchandises?! WTF! Eventually we just bought a wire for grass cutting machine. As we were leaving and the old Japanese woman owner has the nerve to tell us we can't park here! I told her we are paying customers and we just parked here less than 5 mins. If the owners isn't Asian I strongly feel if they are racists. Use to work across the street from this place..one of the few businesses left in this park that I've known since the early 90s. With Capital Power out of business Freeport is the only place left in south Sacramento..unless you want to take a trip out to the north area and deal with the assholes at Bar-Hein,would rather drive out to Davis and deal with JB. Do not bring your small engine for repair here! I repeat don't do it!...So I bring in my lawn mower and the older man gives me a tag to sign my name and phone number on. He then gives me half of the tag and says nothing...I asked him when my mower would be ready and he says 10 days..So turns out I end up losing the tag he gave me..9 days later I call to see if my lawn mower is ready and he asks me for my tag. I said I lost it. He then seriously told me that I would need to drive myself to his place to tell him which lawn mower is mine so that he could tell me if it was ready!! All because Iost the tag he had given me!..Worst customer service ever..Fortunately I was able to convince him to give me a break ..He ended up putting me on hold forever to go and look for it. The owner was so rude to me! I had brought in my Mantis Tiller in for repair. While I was trying to tell him about the issues I am having with it, he states - "It is the carburetor. You haven't used this in a long time." When in fact I had used it just over a year ago. Then he dismisses me with the parting statement - 10 days to 2 weeks. He has a great reputation for his mechanical abilities, but his customer service SUCKS! I just hope that he can fix my tiller and not cost me more than what I paid for it five years ago. read more

Seems to be run mostly by an older couple--the gentlemen must be 60 or 70 but exhibits the fast-paced no-nonsense energy of an 18-year-old. Don't go there. Customer service is very low. Staff is very rude. Went there yesterday they threw a work order tag on the desk for me to fill it out without even saying anything. When I asked it they could take a look at my lawn mower while I wait both front desk lady and techician laughed in my face saying it will be 10 days before they can even take a look at it.
